Tony Romo Broken Collarbone? (1 Viewer)

There is another Romo thread on this page and you posted in it about the injury before starting another thread.

I think broken collarbone is season ending, right?
Depends on where it was broken and how it is fixed. If you can put a metal plate in there, then you can return in 4 weeks. If you let it heal on its own, then you're looking at 8-10 weeks.

Read somewhere that this was the same injury he suffered a few years ago and he missed the season because of.

That was in week 6 according to the report which so ultras that he could miss the season again

Romo is no stranger to injuries, especially the one he suffered on Sunday. He endured the same exact injury in 2010 while taking a hit from then-Giants linebacker Michael Boley during a Monday Night Football game in Arlington. Boley drove Romos left shoulder into the turf and broke his clavicle. That injury occurred in the Cowboys sixth game of the season, and Romo was out for the rest of the year.

That he suffered the injury once before explains how Romo seemed to know immediately on Sunday it was broken, as he appeared to tell a trainer such while he walked to the locker room.

This injury occurred in just the teams second game of the season, and its not clear how much time hell miss, but it will certainly keep him out for the foreseeable future, perhaps a couple of months. Thats how long Bryant may miss after undergoing foot surgery during the week for an injury he suffered last Sunday night against the Giants.

Romo owners: Going into week 4, are you still holding him on your bench or are you tempted to drop him or have already dropped him for emerging qb's like Tyrod Taylor, Derek Carr, or Blake Bortles?

Now 0-3, but having acquired Tyrod Taylor via free agency and Stafford via trade, I am ready to cut bait for a chance at the Rawls lottery. Having lost Romo and Dez my biggest weakness (aside from those two) is having a starting tandem of Stewart and Ingram at RB. If Rawls outs up numbers he is certainly better than Stewart and infinitely better than 0 from Romo for another 8 weeks. God it sucks to cut a preseason top 5 QB, but 0-3 calls for desperate measures.

When is the right time to pick up Romo? Looking like he may go week 11 and my all star QB Eli Manning has a bye week 11. Probably hard to start him first game back, but may have to.

May have to pick up Romo sooner than later if you think he can play well at the end of the season.

His schedule weeks 11-16 is pretty brutal on paper.

Someone dropped him for bye coverage in one of my leagues. People are talking about dropping Peyton in another thread, so crazier things happened.

Good point about the schedule, VikingFrog, but with Dez back and in the groove for a few weeks before Romo returns, and with the injury being to Romo's non-throwing clavicle, Romo will have the ability and weapons to be a near must start QB no matter the D he faces.

There are just a few QBs now that I would start over Romo when he returns. Was never a Romo owner (sticking with Brady until his arm falls off, and even then might stick with him) but if I had a mid-tier QB 1 or lower, I'd burn a spot to carry Romo unitl the playoffs.

"Pick up" Romo?
Both the leagues I play in are redraft and 5 player benches. Hard to hold a guy guaranteed to produce nothing for 8 weeks, especially with byes and injuries. I understand everyone is in different leagues, but he was dropped pretty quickly in both short bench redraft leagues I play in, and imagine he's fairly avaialable over the next couple weeks in those leagues.

I view it similar to the Gates situation. He'll sit there for a couple more weeks, and then people will start talking about his return, so better to grab him a little early before it becomes a dash to grab him.

Agreed, I have Eli. Dropped Stafford right before his big game. The rest of the wire is pretty meh at QB. Probably picking him up today to carry with Eli for the last 5 weeks of the season. Still may be a little scary to start him right away week 11, but that's what makes fantasy fun.
