I see him as an all or nothing guy...like most QBs, it's going to depend on his ability to make decisions at NFL speed...very hard to determine that.
I agree. I just think that people are more in love with his measurables than what he's actually capable of doing on the field. Too many people have been burned drafting by measurables instead of game tape.

This is excellent analysis, gentleman. Thanks.
Every thread doesn't need to be an analysis.
I guess I'd just like to know why you picked the players you did. Your list is your opinion. Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one and most of them stink. You'd provide a lot more value by giving a few reasons why you feel the way you do.

1. Marshawn Lynch - doesn't have "it". Seems to lack the little things that separate the great ones from the backups. Decent vision, but slow reaction time. Doesn't explode out of his cuts, and will get taken down behind the line alot.

2. JaMarcus Russell - This really depends on what thee team who drafts him does with him. He has the potential to develop into a great QB, due to his physical abilities. But his grasp of the game leaves alot to be desired, and he should be groomed behind a clipboard for at least a year, then played sparingly to get used to NFL speed.

3. Tedd Ginn - too one dimensional to make a great impact at the WR position. See Troy Williamson - alot of speed, d, but not a polished WR by any means. Has trouble with any routes but fly routes. Will be easy to jam at the line.

Gaines Adams - Too risky for a top-five pick; one dimensional pass-rusher that might not hold up against the run in the NFL. Could see him getting rag-dolled by massive OTs.

Adam Carriker - An excellent comparison is Aaron Smith. Don't see him getting to the QB much and not large enough to play DT. Could be an outstanding 3-4 DE; not worhty of a top-10 pick.

Dwayne Bowe - Not extremely fast and didn't put up huge numbers in college. Some liken him to Anquan Boldin because they both have excellent size and are physical receiver. Can he catch like Boldin? Not that he won't be a good pro, but very risky for a mid first rounder.

1. Brady Quinn - Made a living putting up stats against cupcakes. Didn't look so great when they played teams such as a LSU or USC.

2. Leon Hall - Decent corner but doesn't seem like first round material

3. Ted Ginn - Not even the best WR on the Buckeyes. Gonzalez is a much more polished WR than Ginn is.

:moneybag: You are absoutely right. We'll take him at 11.

Calvin Johnson, there is just no way he will live up to the hype. He will probably turn out to be a average to above average WR and not the Robo-stud people are making him out to be.

I keep seeing the TW comparisons and think they are unfair. The guy can catch for starters, also I think people are not giving him enough value as a return man. I will agree that he may not be polished, of course he hasn't been playing WR that long and he is only going to get better. I think he will be a special player in the NFL.

Russell

Peterson

Jarrett

I think all will have rough years assuming they receive extensive playing time. Now of course their surrounding casts will dictate their success/failure rate but assuming they are relatively high picks(bad teams) I just don't see them doing much.

a lot of people thought the same thing about Vince Young last year (me included) and his success will probably help keep Russell's value high.

... and then there's Akili Smith.

Watch the tape... this guy is a questionable decision maker. The NFL QB game isn't about big arms, it's about reading complex defenses, making quick, good decisions and delivering the ball accurately. Based on his college career, I highly question his ability to do the first two.

How many times against ND alone did he chuck it into double coverage and get away with it b/c ND secondary blew???

Great, he can roll out and chuck it 80 yards. Woopty freakin doo. Kyle Boller can kneel at the 50 and throw it through the uprights. How's he doing? JRuss will be somewhere between Boller and Culpepper. And that's probably best case.

Why is it that so many times players are drafted on measurables rather than game tape? Is this only obvious to me alone that measurables should only be used to validate what you see on film, not the other way around???

If the Raiders select this guy over the sure fire uberstud named Calvin on April 28, I will puke, piss and poop myself in my living room. Somebody get me a tums please.

Maybe as a KR, but that doesn't make him worthy of a high first round pick.

Except VT's college game tape was much more impressive than JMs
