5. Pittsburgh

The Steelers inconsistency is very frustrating to me, but I think I understand it: it's the offensive line. Ben is constantly under pressure in every game, and Parker/Davenport don't get enough holes, either. I'm afraid this problem can only be fixed in the offseason. If Pittsburgh has to face a tremendous pass rush from either Jacksonville or Tennessee in the first round of the playoffs, I could easily see an upset.

Indianapolis is so full of injuries that they will be scrambling the rest of the year to win tight games like the one today. Fully healthy, they're at or near the top of this list, IMO.

Dallas has the best offense in the NFL outside of NE. But as today proved again, their defense is suspect. I think now they will lose to Green Bay in the playoffs.

Now that they have Ryan Grant, the Packers are 2nd only to NE. They don't seem to have any weaknesses, or at least they're certainly not playing like it.

Pittsburgh cannot win on the road. Losses to the Jets, Broncos and Cardinals prove that. The Steelers are a decent team, but I would put Jax ahead of them at this point. And to be honest I am not sure they are that much better than NYG.My top 51. NE2. Dallas3. GB4. Indy ....although if they don't get healthy they will not remain5. Jax

New England

Dallas Green Bay

Jaxonville

Indianapolis

New England's in a class by themselves. The ranking between Dallas and Green Bay is pointless because they play in a couple weeks. I'll give the edge to Dallas because they play them at home.

I don't care of Indianapolis is ahead of JaX right now, they're not playing better football and it's going to be a tough 5 games for them to win that division.

NE

Dallas/GB

JAX

NYG/PIT

Giants, Jags and Steelers have game breaking flaws with their teams. The other teams are getting away with theirs, except for NE, who has no weaknesses.

I still don't put Jacksonville in the top 5 because I don't think their offense is consistent enough. The 5 I have listed all have a large number of very good to excellent offensive performances. Although I said I would not be surprised to see the Jaquars upset the Steelers, an upset is what it would be.

I think with Garrard at the helm, the Jags have a very solid offense. He looked amazing today in person...beautiful on the threaded needle to Reggie Williams. He has 8 tds and 0 ints this year, and runs the offense very efficiently.

I'm sorry, but after Dallas's secondary got torched for 300+ yards today from Jason Freaking Campbell, how can anyone possibly say they are better than Green Bay?

In terms of points scored for/against (adjusted for strength of schedule), Green Bay's defense has much more of an edge on Dallas than the Cowboys' offense does on the Packers.

Jason freaking Campbell is a pretty freaking good young QB. I am very Redskin biased but I would take him over any other QB in the NFL today other than Brady, Manning, Rothleisburger and Romo.

I'm a Giants homer...I'll put them at 7 with the Steelers being 6.

I'll concede this point, we can put GB No.2. It doesn't really matter though, they play in a couple weeks.Let me ask you this question, what do you think the point spread will be?My guess right now is Dallas minus 3.5 to 4That doesn't mean Dallas will win but in terms of making a Power Poll and those 2 teams having the same record, it's enough for me to put Dallas as a slight edge. Maybe you think Green Bay will be giving Dallas points?

What does it take to get the Steelers off everyone's list of teams with a chance? Steelers/Giants......are you serious? Patriots are the clear number one. Colts are number two as come crunch time Dungy will have all the pieces back together. Cowboys and Packers are in the next class and the other teams just don't matter. Jags are good but this is one of those years where the Superbowl champ will be remembered as a GREAT team. Not going to get away with a sub par QB like the Steelers and Ravens did during their wins. This team will be remembered as one of the best.

I'm not sure if anyone would argue that Roethlisburger is a sub par QB.

Are you saying the Steelers have a "subpar" QB? The equivalent of Dilfer?

Would you say Ben is in the same class as Brady, Manning, Favre, or Romo? Didn't think so. Ben is a less then average QB when comparing superbowl quarterbacks or even Romo who I'm sure will get his ring.

That's why you have to play the games though, anything can happen. Everyone who makes the playoffs has a shot.I mean, if Dallas was at home vs. Seattle after a bye, I wouldn't be so smug to think that as a gauranteed win. They better play well to beat them.I gaurantee NE thinks the same way that's why they're always up for all their games. They are a very experienced. When I think of NE right now, if there was one word to describe them, it would be Professional.

In playoff games Ben has looked better then Manning and Romo.

Actually I would. Ben is as good right now as Farve ever was, and better than Romo. He is slightly below Brady and Manning but might rise to their level over time. Just my opinion.

Hope someone jumps all over "Ben as good as Favre ever was" so I don't have to. I guess I give up that is the dumbest statement I've ever heard.

When things this stupid are said, it should result in an immediate revoking of posting priviledges.I'm being serious.

I agree with this statement. Should be a hellova game.

But the way the Patriots are playing they are by far the best team in the NFL. And I really hate to say that.

Agreed. It doesn't matter till we play. I'm not looking past Detroit this Thursday, but man that Dallas game is going to be great I think.

I'll concede this point, we can put GB No.2. It doesn't really matter though, they play in a couple weeks.Let me ask you this question, what do you think the point spread will be?

My guess right now is Dallas minus 3.5 to 4

That doesn't mean Dallas will win but in terms of making a Power Poll and those 2 teams having the same record, it's enough for me to put Dallas as a slight edge.

Maybe you think Green Bay will be giving Dallas points?
My first thoughts were Dallas -2.5

:thumbup:You make good points. I think the spread will be in favor of the Cowboys because it's a home game---my guess is about the same as yours. Were the game in Green Bay, I think it would be Packers - 3.5 or thereabouts.-=kwantam

I bet it's about 2.5

first, I never said that Ben was playing BETTER than Farve ever did. I said he playing right now as good as Farve ever did, and I'll stand by that. When was Farve at his best, around 96 or 97, when he was MVP? I'm guessing his QB rating is not as high as Ben's this year. (If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.)

But that aside, I think in Roethlisberger (and he had a bad game today), we have one of the great QB's of all time before it's all over, a guy who will be recognized, so long as he stays healthy, in the class of Farve, Marino, Elway, etc. I realize that is a singular opinion on my part, but it's hardly ridiculous. You all are welcome to make fun of me all you want.

I'll start......his name is spelled Favre. (He also has 3 MVPs under his belt)
Thank you. Of course I knew that, just typing too fast. look, I really REALLY don't want to be put in the position of dissing Favre, he's always been one of my favorite players. Just don't think Big Ben gets the credit he deserves, is all. But I am not enough of a quarterback expert or even football expert to engage in this conversation with all of the tools I would need. So let's just say I'll agree with you that Favre is one of the best ever and is probably not the best example I should have used to defend Ben, OK?

They very well may not be in the top 5, but offensive inconsistency would not be the reason for this. They just endured a 2-1 stretch, all on the road, with their back-up quarterback; not exactly the ideal measure of the offense as a whole. You could, however, point to the pass defense, specifically the pass-rush, as a reason to knock them down in your rankings. That line of thought wouldn't be considered a stretch. I don't think you could place your ranking on their offense.

To be fair to the Steelers, they are team that wins by running the ball and playing defense. Its not a pretty way to play football and when a team like this loses it can look downright ugly. But its still a very very good team.

:hophead: Seriously, just retire the moniker right now because everything you say after this is flat out worthless.
