Top 5 favorite bands... (1 Viewer)

All time favs

1. Pink Floyd
2. Tool
3. Metallica
4. Guns N’ Roses
5. White Stripes

As OP was worded and i can only listen to those 5 artists forever I’d probably mix it up a bit. Top 2 would still be in, beyond that I might mix it up a bit

I was gonna check my amazon music artist library but apparently they completely ruined that feature…seriously WTF Amazon

I’m curious how often you guys are listening to your favorite bands.

I can think of several bands that were in heavy rotation for me for several years. Pink Floyd, The Cure, Radiohead, and Modest Mouse, for example. However, it’s uncommon for me these days to play those old albums.

I guess I prefer trying to find new bands to love.
When I think of my all-time five favorites, Rush is number 1, but I have barely listened to them at all in 2022. Pink Floyd is likely top 5 for me, and I almost never listen to them anymore. Both are in that retired favorites category, meaning I have heard them so much in my life that they really aren't part of my every day listening like they used to be, but they still get the love when thinking of all-time favorites. While not top 5 artists for me, the same treatment goes to bands like Yes, Queen and Van Halen.

There just isn't enough time for me to get to everything I want to hear.
1. Rush
2. Porcupine Tree
3. Van Halen
4. Queensryche
5. Dream Theatre
6. Iron Maiden

Had to name 6.
Hey, your top 2 is the same as my top 2!

Rancid
King's X
Bad Religion
The Clash
Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers/Refreshments

Honorable mention - Operation Ivy, but their career was too short to make top 5.

#5 could have been Willie, Waylon, Drivin N Cryin, Drive by Truckers, Isbell, or Simpson but I listen to RCPM more and have been to more of their shows.

Man, this is tough. I am gonna just go off the top of my head, and in no particular order:

Sublime
311
Tool
The Police

....

I can only come up with four right now because there are 100 more that can be on this list. Maybe I'll revisit this in a couple days when I have a chance to read through the thread and digest.

OK - for now I'll round out the list with Pearl Jam.

There.

This was really tough. Growing up a metal head, surprised none made my top 5:

Pink Floyd
The Doors
Pixies: Nice to see them on a few lists here
The Smashing Pumpkins
The Slambovian Circus of Dreams: Found them about 5 years ago, besides Christmas and Dylan covers, they have an extensive eclectic catalog of what they describe as rootsy rockin' psychedelica
