Top 3:

Albert Pujols

Alex Rodriguez

Vladimir Guerrero

after that i'm a bit :shuked:

Don't think Bonds can still be considered in this tier anymore. Seriously considering Utley.

If by right now you mean this very day I put Magglio Ordonez and Justin Morneau on this list.

What criteria should we use?
I guess I am talking about the guys who:Are in their primeYou would start a team with todayWould command the most money on the open marketAre all-around playersAre established but also have many years ahead of them
A-RodPujolsReyesJ-MauVladI defy ANYONE to beat that fivesome using this criteria!!!!!!!!
PujolsMiguel CabreraA-RodReyesMatt HollidayHowever if I'm starting a new team I'd want three pitchers and Pujols or A-Rod and Reyes. Top five pitchers using the same criteria:J SantanaPeavyVerlanderBondermanHaren

Cabrera is a good one. Wondering why you would discount Vlad? Age/injury risk? (though back hasn't been a problem for a few years) I guess I'm also talking about players that have a certain "It" factor and simply impose themselves on the game. Reyes is definitely a good one.I think I really started thinking about it last week while watching the Phillies-Reds. Utley came up in consecutive at-bats and got a green light on 3-0 both times and hit a 2-run homer both times to almost the exact same spot. Later in the game he got on and after the pitcher threw over to first a couple times, he took off and stole second. It just seemed like he was in total control of the game. This is not a veiled attempt to praise Utley, but that is what made me start thinking about these types of players.

Utley would be in my top ten and closer to 5 than 10. Vlad is great, he's just older than some other OFers and his fielding skills are quickly deteriorating even though he still has that big arm.

Albert Pujols (Best 1B)

Alex Rodriguez (Best 3B)

Jose Reyes (Best SS)

Vladimir Guerrero (Best RF)

Grady Sizemore (Best CF)

Chase Utley (Best 2B)

Joe Mauer (Best C)

Matt Holliday (Best LF)

Johan Santana (Best SP)

Not even looking at stats so I could be way off -

Mauer - c

Pujols - 1b

Utley - 2b

ARod - 3b

Jose Reyes - ss

Holliday - lf

Sizemore - cf

Guerrero - rf

Peavy/Santana -sp

F Rod - closer

Okajima - setup

Top 5 would be -

Pujols, Utley, ARod, Reyes, Guerrero....add Santana, remove Guerrero if you include pitchers.

Damn, I didn't even see rudnicki had posted the same thing.

I dont think I'd really consider Vlad using the critera listed. He's getting older and he's becoming a liability defensively. Plus, I think he wont age well because of his plate discipline or lack thereof.

Curios as to why everyone has Pujols as a Top 5 "right now". The guy to me has been a major disappointment. His average, RBI's, HR's, are all down from what he has done in the past. He may rebound in the second half and tear it up, but "right now" he would not only be in my top 5, he would not be in my top 10.

Here's my top 10:

A-Rod

Reyes

Holliday

G. Sizamore

Prince Fielder

Vlad Guerrero

Tori Hunter

Chase Utley

Mags Ordonez

Ichiro

Right now, I would say the above ten are playing much better right now than Pujols. JMHO.
