Trade involving Utley (1 Viewer)

5x5 roto league. 8 teams (office league).

My batting is pretty solid: 5-8-7-4.5-8 (R-HR-RBI-SB-Avg). My pitching is in the crapper: 1-3-3-2-1 (W-K-Sv-ERA-WHIP).

I have been offered Uggla, M Rivera and K Rod for Utley, H Matsui and Wheeler. This owner is in love with Utley.

Do I make this trade? Uggla and Utley are pretty much a wash. Matsui is only used when my other OFs aren't playing and I only picked up Wheeler for when Percival was down. I think it's a no-brainer. Just wanted to get some input in case I am missing something.

utley and uggla are not washing. who else does he have?

It's ok. At first glance, I thought you would be getting raped here, but Rivera and K Rod are very good saves guys and will upgrade you there big time.

I'd do it.

Posada, Youkilis, A Ramirez, J Rollins, R Braun, J Bruce, V Wells, P Burrell, Giambi, Pierzynski, Soriano (DL). He only wants Utley. If I didn't get Uggla in return, then I would have to go with DeRosa off my bench.

i guess its growing on me. if its a redraft id consider it. i still dont have that much faith in uggla though. i dont think he can keep this up

Why are you making this trade? For saves? How far out in that category are you? If you can take the lead in saves then maybe, but if you're going to trade Utley go get yourself a bonafide number one, or two number 2 starters to help you in more pitching categories. That, to me is a waste of a trade of Utley.

Good point. These guys will help your ERA and WHIP as well but won't have the impact on that that a starter would as they have a third of the number of innings. You might be better off trying to salvage your ERA and WHIP instead of saves as some low WHIP and low ERA middle relievers are probably available on the waiver wire that could really help you there. Some of those guys have pretty high K/9 rates as well and can help you boost that category as well, especially if you have an upper limit on innings that isn't all that high.

Like Marmol and Kuo? I've got them. Anyone else to consider?

Casilla's coming off the DL this week. Doug Brocail in Houston is solid and putting up the occasional Save or Win (not as many K's though). Scot Shields has been good. Taylor Buccholz is solid. Octavio Dotel in Chicago has a lot of K's for a reliever and solid ratios. There are others as well. I have Kuo too.

I don't know who I'd drop for one of those (Kuo, B Colon, King Felix, Wheeler, Marmol, Sherrill (my lone closer), Joba, Oswalt, Kershaw, Harang, F Carmona (DL), Isringhausen (DL, I know he's active now, but if I drop him, that still doesn't free up a spot), and C Cordero (DL)). My ERA and WHIP are so high because I had B Myers, Gagne, R Betancourt, and Ian Snell earlier in the season. I didn't get rid of them quick enough.
