14 team H2H, 5x5 with QS instead of Wins.

I give: Clayton Kershaw

I get: Jose Valverde

My starting rotation has had great peripherals this year, but terrible results:

J. Vazquez

K. Slowey

R. Nolasco

J. Zimmerman

P. Hughes

C. Pavano

C. Kershaw

J. Pineiro

Kris Medlen is a FA.

My closers are:

S. Downs

M. Capps

J. Hanrahan, who I have not used yet.

I also have a guy who says he's pondering Kershaw for Tommy Hanson. I'd probably shop Valverde around to a couple of teams that are in bad shape, closer-wise. There are definite arbitrage possibilities here. So please rank the following options:

-Trade for Hanson

-Trade for Valverde

-Stick with Kershaw

I'd stick with Kershaw. Your starters aren't exactly awe inspiring, and I think you can make due with Capps, Downs and Hanrahan (who may have things worked out right). I'm assuming it's a keeper league, and Kershaw is only 21, pitches on the best team in the weakest division in baseball, and in a pitchers park.

1) It's a redraft.2) That the Dodgers are playing well has no affect on Kershaw. We use QS, not wins.3) My K/BB is 2nd highest in the league, HR/9 is middle of the pack. I wouldn't say they are "not awe inspiring." :popcorn:4) Would you trade him for Hanson?

In a redraft league, why trade a sure starter for a guy that may only make a handful of starts? I posted in another thread about my prospects for Hanson, who is going to get kicked out of the Braves rotation? Vazquez, Lowe, Kawakami, Jurrgens or Glavine. Assuming of course Glavine is healthy enough to pitch. I don't see it.I understand you are using QS. First off, it's always easier to pitch and make a QS when you have a lead. Second, look at the rest NL West - SD & SF are 28th and 30th in the majors in runs scored. Arizona is 24th in runs scored per game. Colorado is middle of the pack (and I don't feel like taking out their home runs, which inflate this). I like my chances having a starter in the NL West. You are using ratios to determine your pitching. Scoring categories are QS, ERA, whip, k's and saves, right? Not sure why I would care about K/BB and HR/9....even if they are by your admission middle of the pack. LEt's take a look at this pitching:Vazquez - solidK. Slowey - solidR. Nolasco (last I checked he got demoted. Not exactly awe inspiring)J. Zimmerman (ERA north of 6, Whip close to 1.5 - nice k's, but what, 2QS this year?)P. Hughes (ERA around 5.5, whip at 1.5 - I'm not sure how your QS are determined, but again maybe 2 this year?)C. Pavano (hasn't pitched over 100 innings since 2004. that's all I ahve to say about him)C. KershawJ. Pineiro (very erratic pitcher, with nothing overpowering. A decent #4 - #5 starter when on)That's my case for nothing awe inspiring. You have 1/2 of your staff with ERA's over 5.50 and WHIP at or over 1.50. In mixed leagues, these are near waiver wire material. I am a baseball fan, and I've seen all these guys pitch and Kershaw has no-hitter type stuff when he goes out there. No one else on your staff does. I'd hold.

I'd probably stick with Kershaw. I would not trade him for Valverde and I would have to at least consider trading him for Hanson. Matter of fact I might gamble a bit and trade him for Hanson then pick up Medlen. Anyone own Rich Hill yet?

Rich Hill is gone. I foolishly had him stashed on my DL, then let him go before he came off.I dropped Pineiro for Medlen. High risk, high reward.

Valverde's been a Top 10 closer the last two years. :X
