Trade Vetoed - What Should I Do? (1 Viewer)

I am in a work ppr league that has a decent sized buy-in. I consistently have one of the best teams and have won the league half of the years we have done it (thanks to Footballguys!). So far, I have the highest scoring team and best record this year. Despite this trade being clearly in his favor based on Footballguys or fair based on the CBS Trade Value Chart, my league mates vetoed our trade since it makes my team better. Here is the trade with the numbers representing Value column from Customized Top 200 list.

Give 48.7 points:

Alfred Morris & Bilal Powell 25.4 & 3.8 (he has only Fred Davis & Shonn Greene)

Eric Decker 17.7

Kyle Rudolph (he also has Owen Daniels) 1.87

Get 28.1 points:

Rob Gronkowski 21.4

Hakeem Nicks 6.7

While you may say this trade isn't good for me to do, it opens up my bench to work the wire more and has a better playoff schedule, assuming Nicks is ever healthy again. Morris is my #4 RB and Decker is my #3 WR in a 2 RB, 2 WR, and a flex roster.

Besides having better rules/constitution setup, what should I do? The person I am trading with has the #1 waiver claim if that makes any difference.

If it's dynasty I like the Gronk side, but if redraft I like the Alf side...either way, close enough that it shouldn't be vetoed. I suspect you really want Gronk, so rework the trade to take Decker/Nicks out and do it again and see if you can get it through. If not, you can't make a big fuss since it's work league, but just don't play next year....

If the rules allow the league to vote on trades, then you are screwed. You should try getting that rule changed next year.

Looks fair to me. I'm a commish in several leagues and would never vetoe that.

Actually if I were you I wouldn't even make that trade. You have Rudolph. Morris and decker are solid. Gronk is great and so is nicks when healthy. But there is no guarantee that nicks comes back to full strength any time soon

Print out the Footballguys & CBS Value charts and hand them out each and every co-worker in the league first thing Monday morning.

Bring them all together in a conference room explaining your thinking, and force the anonymous vetoers to come forth.

First Im not sure what points vs points has to do with anything (and Im guessing since you say you win all the time you dont either...you just threw that in there to make your case) I could trade you some pretty good defenses and kickers in a 4 for 1 deal and use that to explain why the defenses/kickers for a stud Rb is a great deal for the other guy.....so that part of your argument is garbage.Basically youre trading him some waiver wire players + 3rd or 4th round pick for his 1st and 3rd or 4th round pick. Now that doesnt tell the whole story I realize but that is the justification for the trade veto that was used. Personally I dont trust shanahan and I dont think Morris has a snowballs chance in hell of keeping up the pace he is on.... and Decker is a fine wr but there is a reason you are trading him away for an injured Nicks. No way would I make that trade...but thats not the issue. Having said all that absent collusion the trade should have gone through. The "His team would be too strong argument" should never be a reason for voiding a trade.

The "His team would be too strong argument" should never be a reason for voiding a trade.
But it often is, which is why trades should never be up for vote by the league. Too many crybabies who will vote down trades for illegitimate reasons. But to the OP, there's probably not much you can do.

Thanks for letting us know you win constantly. I love hearing about your amazing team so much, keep it coming...
:goodposting:Although the OP is missing a bad beat story, which is usually pretty schintillting. Of course if that is because you're 4-0, not sure you didn't post the entire roster for us to admire.Never understood why people play in leagues that allow trades to be vetoed. The owners who vote to veto often do so because of a perception the trade makes one team stronger. Of course that is why teams make trades, and anyway, it's inpossible to say with any certainty what will transpire in the next 8-12 weeks.

Have you been happy to veto other people's trades in the past? That vetoing is awful shouldn't be news. You've been absolutely KILLING IT, i mean just CRUSHING IT in this league for years and years. Is this the first veto in history or something?

Please tell me you didn't use the CBS Trade Value Chart. Oh god.

I don't care about the trade, I don't think any trade should ever be vetoed unless it's blatant collusion, but using that trade value chart should be illegal.

I was nursing a halfie after reading the title, but after finishing the whole post it's grown to a full fledged woodie.OP, please tell us more riveting stories about your league, I need to pound this badboy out.

You agreed to play in a league that allows league vote for veto. There's nothing you can do now except take the high road. Especially since it's a work league.

Oh and now you can veto everyone elses trades and not feel bad about it.

I have Gronk/Nicks on my roster and i could see myself pulling the trigger on that trade.

You also said he has the #1 waiver pick, I'm pretty sure as a Nicks owner he could

have used that to pick up Hixon to off set losing Nicks. (he was available in most leagues the last few weeks.)

As said above, get rid of that Veto rule.

Also, post 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 13, and 17 thanks for your contribution to the thread.

(The demise of the Shark Pool continues.)

I'd offer up the trade again. Let the league keep vetoing it and ask for explanations from others as to why. Then, offer it up again.

Never understood why people play in leagues that allow trades to be vetoed. The owners who vote to veto often do so because of a perception the trade makes one team stronger.
This, trades should be vetoed for collusion only. Also, how do we stop the ##### responses, I have to say I am tired of reading that garbage in every thread.

I would rather read the OPs post then the bull#### ones. Report it to the Mod and move on.

Lots of people berating the guy for posting a FF question in a FF forum. What a joke. The topic let's you know straight up what this post is about. Why come in and write something simply to be a @hole? If these sorts of questions don't do it for you, don't click on the post. It really is that simple.

When you join leagues with the veto option, this is the mess you deal with. I agree with what someone else wrote, just keep offering it and have him keep accepting. And it's a fair deal in my opinion.

Vote to veto every trade in the league. Tell the other owners you are the one voting to veto every trade. Offer great trades knowing the other owners will veto them out of spite. Then next year change the veto rule or leave the league.
