Trading future picks (1 Viewer)

Possible offer is trading my 1st rounder (12th pick) to the team drafting first overall. In exchange, I will receice their 2007 2nd and 5th round picks, along with their next years' #1 pick.

Our league hasn't had this occur before, but rules are in place for it to happen. Each one of us would have to pay our next years league fees before the trade were to occur.

It sounds insnae to trade the 1st round pick, but how often are they busts anyway? I don't give up much because I gaina 2nd and 5th and set myself up better for next year.

This is how we handle it also - you have to pay up front for the future seasons that you are trading. And there's nothing insane about that trade at all. I think you're getting a good deal.

All of our owners are prepaid a year in advance...owners are allowed to trade picks through the subsequent season (which they've already paid)...

Is this a redraft league? If so I'm guessing the rest of the leaguemates are going to have a huge problem with this.

The current offer is now:

2007 2nd round (12th pick)

2007 7th rounder (1st pick)

2008 1st rond pick (unknown)

for my

2007 1st round pick (12th overall)

This is a redraft league.

good deal?

Odd to trade picks in a redraft - I think it allows teams to alternate stronger years. If your rules allow it, it's a good deal for you - both teams need to pre-pay, and I'd think you may need to make the # of picks each year even to smooth any issues.

Looks like a good deal for you. Not sure why your leaguemates would have a problem with it if it fits within your rules ... your 1.12 pick could be bettered by many other teams if they were willing to seek the trade and pull the trigger. Good for you for getting it done first.

You can't trade future picks in redraft. Thats just feels wrong to me. At the very least since it hasn't been done before you need to talk to the other people in the league.

It's already covered in their rules ... it's allowed, owners just have to pay for the future year prior to completing the trade. I don't think you need to discuss your trade with others until it's finalized, just like you wouldn't with any other deal. If it wasn't written in the rules, that would be another story, but apparently they've previously decided that it's OK for their league. So, go get your picks Milwalkey.

Yeah your right, I had read the thread earlier and forgot that part. Yeah don't tell anyone, and take it. If there are no keepers at all for that redraft then that’s a no brainier deal, a lot of value there. I still think its werid to trade future picks in redraft, but if its in the rules its in the rules.
