Trading Sucks in FBB (1 Viewer)

I am in a 10-team NL only 5x5 roto league. Most of the owners are new to FBB and I have to say that we structured our league wrong--there's no one on the WW and trading is very difficult. We have 13 active bats, 9 active pitchers and 3 bench spots.

I have been in a f-hockey roto league for years, and thought this league would be similar, but was way wrong. It's really tough to structure 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 trades because it leaves a hole in someone's roster that can't be filled on the WW. Trading 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 doesn't make much sense because you're either trading apples for apples (why bother) or it leaves a positional hole that again can't be filled.

What am I missing?

NL only

There's your problem right there. Last time I did an only league there was hardly any trading at all except pitchers past the asb as people tried to tweak their innings vs. stats.

You've got 155 batters rostered or so. You can't expect #160 to be worth a damn in one league.

Exactly. With people new to FBB it would have been much easier to start out with a mixed-league. In that it is much easier to fashion your roster sizes based upon your league size and have deeper benches. What you did is the equivalent of starting out in FFB in an IDP dynasty league with salary caps.

If you wanted a soft Only league you have to have less starters

for 10 teams

1b 2b SS 3b IF UTIL OF OF OF OF 1000 innings

something like that. Don't even bother with catchers being mandatory.

You've got a pretty uber league setup right there and I don't even know your inning count.

What those guys said for a league for newbies where you want better teams, and more trading and more available

BUT you are wrong in your observations that 22 roster spots (most league use 23; many NL only leagues 24) and 3 reserve spots has a bare free agent pool - YOUR league only has TEN teams, most NL only leagues are 12 or 13 teams and there are STILL players in the free agent lists.
