Transactions during playoffs (1 Viewer)

Do you allow transactions in your league during playoffs? Pro's / Con's???

Would be interested in how folks are handling it... we've always allowed them, but the topic has come up for next year... thanks...

We allow WW moves and trades throughout the playoffs but only to the teams in the playoffs. Once you are eliminated you cannot make any transactions or trades.

We stop ALL transactions from kickoff of week 13 (last week of regular season) until the season is over. makes you carry depth into the playoffs.

We are a keeper league so that doesn't work for us. Plus the winner of the toilet bowl gets first pick so there is no reason to keep the "losers" from the waiver wire.

I was going to post a similar question, but was distracted with Petrino.

We just had a similar discussion in my league. I simply assumed that the rosters would lock this week on ESPN, but they didn't. And now, since it sets up a loser bracket for every team, technically, anyone can make roster moves. In our case, I initially posted a message that rosters were locked, but one guy complained, saying it wasn't in the rules. I had no choice but to agree, and ruled that playoff teams could make FA moves and non-playoff teams could, and I would deal with the rule specifically before next season. This is our first year in this league, and it's hosted on ESPN, which I'm new to.

My question is, what is the specific justification for locking playoff rosters? I now have one league that does, and one that doesn't.

I've always felt that locking rosters for the playoffs is too restrictive unless you have a deep bench setup. Most of my leagues have a 6 or 7 man bench, and with keepers it's really difficult to carry enough depth to cover 2 or 3 injuries. I'm all for any team that is still playing being allowed to manage their roster as they see fit.

One rule we've added in our keeper league is that your keeper eligible players are based on your roster as of week 13. But you are free to make any roster moves necessary while still alive in either the playoffs or Toilet bowl.

we have a 13 spot non keeper with position restrictions so yeah, with it that shallow the waiver wire is open to playoff teams only, all others are locked and trades were done before kickoff of week 10.

Very few add drops, if any, once we get to the semifinals unless its obvious due to injury, etc.

11 years in $$$ league and no abuse to this point, why fix if it aint broke?

Trade deadline was before kickoff in week 11. Dynasty League. I don't particularly care for it that early - it should be week 14 or at least 13 (i.e. just before the playoffs). All teams have the WW available. One plus to no trades is that is stops two things:

1) Teams dumping older vets late in the season to teams in the playoffs (it would seem odd to play a team that you played 2 weeks ago and face all new guys )

2) Teams out of the playoffs from snatching up backups for guys that went down during the previous week then holding the playoff team with injury hostage. (Of course, this could be remedied by A) Not allowing non-playoff teams to WW or B) Having deeper benches). The problem with A is that bad teams don't get a chance to pick up young players who show promise at the end of the season (dynasty league).

Allow them for playoff teams only. Once they get their 3 rounds of waivers, then toilet bowl teams can go if they want.

We have always done that your last FA Pickup (we only allow one a week) is week 14 before the playoffs. It makes you plan accordingly for those last three games.

When that final wrestle blow on Monday night, we're like the Bronx at sunset.....we shut it down.

We allow waivers for playoff teams only. You MUST put that player in your lineup for that week only. That stops the picking up someone to block another owner stuff. It allows you to make a move in an emergency though also.
