Traveling to Scotland in July. Suggestions? (1 Viewer)

I am traveling to Glasgow in July for work. My girlfriend is flying over and we are going to travel for about a week after. Any suggestions? We will certainly want to do some distilleries. Been thinking about possibly staying on Islay and in Dufftown. Anybody been there? How long would you stay? Open to lots of ideas as to where to visit, things to do, places to stay. Thanks.

Train to Edinburgh. Go to the creepy castle there amongst drinking whisky. King Author seat too. Hop on/off bus might be good idea.

Get up to the Highlands if possible. Rent a car to get there.

Get ready for thick accents in Glasgow. Drink and have fun!

If you're into rustic scenery, you can visit the Isle of Mull. Easy drive from Glasgow. If you're into history, you can visit Iona at Mull. Antonine's Wall is between Glasgow and Edinburgh; there are also walking trails along it.

Have her bring your golf clubs with her caddie suit ready to go. Then, share the sites of the golf courses while she walks next to you carrying your clubs.

Wife and I did a bunch of hiking at the isle of Skye. Beautiful up there. Nerve wracking driving up there on the narrow roads though. On the island they also had a bunch of remote roads that were only narrow enough for 1 car with a should every few hundred meters. And the roads were hilly too. Sheep in the road too.

We really enjoyed Edinburgh too.

Skye is nice. Walking around Portree and eating the catch of the day. My wife and I stopped at Luss NW of Glasgow on the shores of Loch Lamond. It was worth it for the scenery alone.

Another vote for Edinburgh. Also saw a castle called Linglithglow (? Sp) that was in partial ruins, it was cool. It is Queen Mary killed some of her husband's or something like that. St Andrews was fun to tour. I hated the food there except for the fish and chips.
