Look I hate how cluttered the board has become and I know some hate to hear about Henry or Selvin.... BUT, this is big news to teams with Henry so I am posting it in a new thread. I think it deserves that.

Broncos RB Henry's Appeal Delayed Again

Bill Williamson, The Denver Post - [Full Article]

A decision on Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry's future continues to be pushed back. An NFL spokesman confirmed Henry's league appeal is set to be heard Nov. 16 in New York, but like the previous assigned date, it could be moved back again. His appeal for a possible suspension for a positive drug test previously had been set for Monday. The current appeal date is scheduled three days before Denver hosts Tennessee, the team Henry played for before signing with Denver as a free agent. Henry's future with the Broncos might not be decided until weeks after the NFL hearing date.

If he's able to last the year this is gonna set a really bad precedent for suspensions...

With the new commish's strict policy I think he's gonna be trying to suspend Henry as soon as he can...

I traded Henry away for R. Bush thinking he was going to be suspended for sure. Not sure if I like that deal so much now or not. I thought Henry would put up much better numbers by now though.

This just figures. I own both Henry and Young, but at this point I want Henry to be gone because after Monday night, I'm betting Young gets plenty of carries, as well. I think it's going to be an rbbc now, and throughout the rest of the year.

And those of you who say no, Shanahan will run Henry into the ground until he gets suspended, that logic makes no sense. You put your most effective players out there, period (well, unless you're Brad Childress, I guess.) Young looked quicker and catches the ball in space more effectively than Henry. Of course he'll be used, of course they'll mix it up!

If Henry manages to delay the suspension indefinitely, it will likely not be worth it to start either of them...

I'd be interested in knowing the reason for why the appeal keeps being pushed back. I think we're still looking at two possibilities:

1. Henry's appeal keeps getting pushed back and he does play the entire season.

2. Henry's appeal is actually heard on the announced date (this time Nov. 16) and he's suspended immediately after - which is what every NFL reporter I've read or heard talk about the issue believes will happen.

If it's the first then Henry is looking real good obviously. If it's the second he's likely looking at three more games and then he's done. The latter actually matches up with Sal Paolantonio's report Monday night. He reported Henry had 3-4 more weeks (including the Monday night game) left and then he was done. Mort contradicted that report later in the evening but it would appear Sal's report was on the money.

I don't see any way this is a RBBC situation. When Henry has played and been healthy he has been the dominant ballcarrier and it hasn't even been close. Young has been in on third downs and sometimes gotten a couple of carries but that's it. I see no reason why Shanahan would change that. Henry was brought in to be the featured RB and that's how he's been used and how I fully expect him to be used as long as he's healthy. And I'm a Young owner just so we're clear. I'd love to see Young get more touches but I see no reason to expect that to happen if Henry is healthy. Young owners need to just be patient and see how this situation develops. If the appeal keeps being dragged out, Young has zero value. But if a decision can be reached at some point this month than Young becomes very viable. Just my two cents.

Thread title might want to include a "might"... could be a tad misleading IMHO.
Split the difference with you and went to "likely be here".From everything I have read, it seems that the Bronco's and Henry must know more than we do.

There has to be a reason that he hasn't been suspended based on the 'A' sample and that it keeps getting pushed...

That's a great move & I'm surprised somebody took it.

I gotta say I have really had a lot of laughs following the Denver/Shanahan RB soap opera each year. Some years I have Den RB's and others I don't, but the soap opera is just mind-bogglingly funny every year. Adding in the whole suspension deal and the fun in the court system and this year's version is a great hit! I happen to have Henry this year so I've been watching it closely again.

And all this just to motivate Tatum Bell! I love it!!

the best thing is Travis Henry hasnt' even played THAT good when he has played this year. Denver's RB's are extremely overrated. Long gone are the days of Terrell Davis and his 20 TD seasons. He's the 33rd ranked RB in my league, if you guys wanna go gaga over that, feel free.

Even if he does continue to avoid suspension, the stress he has to be under will eventually take it's toll, mentally and physically. Let's face it, no matter how dense and/or oblivous, the guy has a lot on his plate with the impending legal actions for this year and implications for next years paycheck, nine kids by nine wives, alimony, child support, letting his team down......I may be completely wrong on this but IMHO, it can't be a good situation in the Henry Camp and football prep/performance will suffer.

Travis Henry's appeal of his substance abuse suspension has been pushed from Monday Nov. 6th to Friday Nov. 16th.

The appeal could be subject to even more delays as motions continue to be filed in Henry's lawsuit against the NFL. That Henry's appeal was delayed a week means he will most likely be active in Week 10, and possibly a few games more. Selvin Young owners are just going to have to be patient. Nov. 2 - 10:03 am et

It was fairly well documented by a DEN homer in this forum that Shanny is not the RBBC coach many people think. You never know who might start at the beginning of the season but, barring injury, he appears to stick to the depth chart, pick a horse and ride him for the season, unless he's forced to do differently. As a Henry/Young owner, if Henry starts, I'll start him confident that he'll get at least 70% of the carries.

OK I hope you're right. I made my argument based on the fact that Young looked better and more effective than Henry has in several weeks. But I hope you are correct, sir.

What a joke.
Why do you hate due process?
What part of "due process" includes multiple delays of the hearing?

I'm glad to hear this news. My top 2 backs of Henry and Gore weren't looking too good. I'm going to play this news up to my league, and try to trade him. He's gotten me 5, 6, and 0(not playing) the last 3 weeks the Broncos haven't been on bye. Maybe I give him 1 week to wake up.

This can't come as news to anyone. This is typical when players are in legal trouble during the season.

Really? This long though? I am not saying you're wrong, but do you have a recent example? If this holds true that means this thing will have gone on for 2 months, basically of half the season.

I don't own either, I just don't think people should be able to delay the hearings until it's convenient for them.

I remember Onterrio Smith for MIN a few years back playing a few games after the news came out that he was going to be suspended... I can't remember exactly how many weeks he was able to delay it though

That "click" you heard was all the S. Young owners cutting Young loose on the waiver wires
I didn't hear a click, and that "the ____ you hear" line has been beat in the ground. I don't own Henry or Young, but why would Young owners turn him loose when Henry is a walking injury?

Guys there is a chance Henry wins the case.
I dont think that there is, but he's doign a bang up job of delaying the inevitable
Not so sure here - IF the NFL did in fact fail to follow the proper testing procedures (as alleged by Henry's law crew), then Henry might INDEED win this case. I read the league violated a court order a week or so back - that alone could push this in Henry's favor.

How about Tank Johnson getting special permission to go to the Super Bowl? NFL players are special since they make millions of dollars. They aren't subject to the same legal proceedings we are. As I was saying all the long, Henry would find some way to weasel out of this. Young is worthless this year.

I may be the Lone Ranger, but I somehow believe Henry did indeed test positive because of second hand smoke. Now will that somehow result in his ability to avoid suspension - I have no idea. But his huddle with Shanahan, and Shanny's subsequent comments when this story first broke, lead me to believe his innocence is very possible. His voluntary offer to take polygraph and hair analysis tests to prove his innocence suggest a more affirmative defense than any other failed test player I can remember. Sure, he's a multiple offender and it's easy to paint him with that brush, but in my rose colored glasses world it's possible, just possible, that he hasn't fallen off the wagon . . .

:goodposting:Glad you were here to break it down for us.
