Travis Taylor (1 Viewer)

I am in five leagues. 2 are 10 teams, 2 are 12 teams and 1 is a 16 teamer. Travis Taylor is available on the waiver wire in every league? Doods rankings going forward have Kennison @ 45, Taylor @ 46 and Mc Cardell @ 49. Kennison and Mc Cardell are taken in all the leagues. I can't figure this one out. Why no love for Taylor?

I just dropped Mark Clayton and picked up Taylor. My reasoning is that Williamson has been dropping balls lately and Taylor had 8 targets last week. Probably not a big switch either way, We'll see.

I can't believe you ask that. The only answer I have is that if you have to ask that question, then you are one tier below where you want to be as far as a fanstasy football player. I'm not trying to slam you in any way either. Take it for what it is, only friendly advice. Study up and realize there are many WRs on the WW better than Travis Tayor. Yes, he will probably have 1 or 2 games where he's a fantasy stud, but he's not worth rostering in a league with 26 players or less.

do you have a better answer other than the thumbsdown? I'm all ears, and I'm also ready to say I'm wrong if you can give me a reason.

The simple fact that he caught 6 balls last week, and is on a team with little WR depth. He doesn't have to start on your fantasy team every week, but there is nothing wrong with him being rostered. Personally i'm hurting for WR's, and he is one of my better options this week.

I think people shy away from Taylor because of his history and because of the lack of production from vikings recievers. Taylor has always been a tease. he goes off for one game and then disappears for several in a row. Personally, I'd rather have someone who scores fewer, but more consistent points. If you are able to guess which games Taylor is going to get 120/2 then he's a great addition. Just be prepared for him to put up 1 catch for 7 yards.

Nice post, and my point emphasized.

If he's your WR1 or WR2, you got prblems. But as a bye week or flex WR, nice fit. Minny has got serious issues at WR right now and Taylor looks like their best option.

Troy Williamson?

That's what I'm thinking, Taylor could become their # 1and johnson's go to guy by default if Williamson keeps dropping passes. Hell, Taylor caight 6 of 8 thrown his way last week. That 6 points in my league without the yardage or a touchdown.

he'll be a decent week 7 bye-filler. i can't wait to read some of the ACF threads those weeks.

I picked him up for week 8 and/or 9. He's playing the Pats and at the 49ers.

He looks good to me.

Actually his whole schedule looks acceptable, if he produces.

I'll have 4 weeks until I need him and he will be my 4th option (start 3) then.

I feel he's worth a gamble.

Taylor is definitely worth a gamble, especially for bye week filler. I had him last year and I happened to need him as a bye week filler. He came through quite nicely that week.

Williamson is clearly the number one target on a team that has one passing td. Unless you are in a deep league , taylor has no value.
O.K. Here are the stats to date through 3 games.Williamson - targets ------- 25receptions ------- 14 catch % 56 %total yds. ------ 218yds. per catch -- 15.6targets per game - 9,7,9Taylor -targets ------- 16receptions ------- 10 catch % 62.5 %total yds. ------ 171yds. per catch -- 17.1 targets per game - 2,6,8 - game 3 was 6 - 8 -82 yards against the Bears. Is this a trend ? Maybe because Williamson can't hold onto the ball?Wiiliamson has also dropped several easy passes. I don't see a clearcut # 1 in receiving numbers on the Vikings for the WR's. I don't have room for Taylor on most of rosters (5 leagues), I was just curious as to why he was a guy ranked approx. 45 at W/R and is available on most waiver wires. I think part of the reason is that he was in Baltimore for several years with Mason and the Ravens just didn't throw the ball that much. I think Taylor will end the year in the WR 40-45 range. :banned:

don't be too tough on the guy...i know taylor is a never-was and probably a never-will be, but so was corey bradford and you had some of the "brilliant minds" of the board pimping him this offseason, when anyone who has been paying attention at all the last few years knew he was a bum. so it happens.

Travis Taylor is a cookie-cutter #2 guy. Not too fast, not too slow, solid hands, good route-runner. He's not breaking away from anyone and he's not much of a run-after-the-catch guy. If you need a tough catch underneath, hes your man. If you're looking for a playmaking stud, look elsewhere.

It also doesn't help that Williamson right now isn't a #1. He's more of a #1.5.

You guys want a true sleeper? Try this name on for size:

Billy mother-fackin-McMullen.

Travis Taylor's career game-by-game stats

5 seasons and I don't think he ever had 2 good fantasy games in a row.
What sticks out to me the most when looking at his stats...In 6 and 1/4 seasons, he's only had 2 100+ yard games......so, in order for him to have a big game, you are hoping for lighting to strike and for him to have multiple TDs. Of which he only averages 3.5 a YEAR!

Good Luck!

I don't start him because I have better receivers in front of him, Holt, Muhammad, D Jax, Moulds but will start him on bye weeks and hope for that lightning in a bottle.

It's been said a lot, but ever since Brad Johnson took over at QB, he's spread the ball out quite a bit, making it a guessing game as to who will have the better game (Williamson, Taylor, Robinson).

To be sure, Brad has started focusing more on Williamson, but that doesn't mean he's going to lock in on him unless Troy really shows he can be a go-to guy. Add to the fact that they have a solid pass catching TE in Wiggins (who hasn't been targeted a lot, for some reason), makes it a crapshoot from week to week.

As for Taylor himself, he never really distinguished himself in Baltimore when they were anxious for a go-to guy, and the trend has continued in Minny.

Think it might have to do with where he was playin' as well?2000 Ravens rookie (skip that one, not much playing time)

2001 Ravens QB Grbac, team WR#2 overall (NFL STATS)

2002 Ravens QB Blake, team WR #1 overall (NFL STATS)

2003 Ravens QB Boller, team WR #1 overall (NFL STATS)

2004 Ravens QB Boller, team WR #2 overall (NFL STATS)

2005 Vikings Culpepper/Johnson, team WR #1 overall (NFL STATS)

Ravens passing, for the most part, was average on a good day. Given his situation, he performed up to the level of the teams he's been on.

Don't get me wrong. If you're in a 10 team league with an 18 man roster, you shouldn't even be reading this. However, if youare fielding 24, 26 guys in a 12 or greater league, there's no way you can pass on him for guys like Troy Brown, Samie Parker, even the Claytons (pick you team, doesn't matter). Travis will produce better numbers.

NOW is the time to get Williamson folks. The Vikings schedule from here on out is pretty soft. Look for a lot more nice games from Williamson from now.

Because he'll drop fewer passes against easier teams?

Didn't want to make a whole new thread, but Taylor looks like a nice start if you need a bye week WR. He and Williamson both had concussions, but neither are considered serious and with Robinson out the Vikes should go to Taylor often.
