Trent Green (1 Viewer)

With Damon Huard being resigned to a 3 year deal and Brodie Croyle on board for the Chiefs and a very under reported firing of Terry Shea as QB coach

Could Trent Green be far behind Shea out of KC, and end up in sunny Miami as a stop gap until they draft a guy or see if Cleo Lemon is the answer? Green has a 7.2M base in 2007 and Carl Peterson has stated he would like Green to take a pay cut.

Terry Shea and Green are close, and Culpepper is hardly a lock to be recovered/good enough IMO at this point.

I think the firing of Terry Shea is a indication that the chiefs offense is going to be changing from the #### Vermeil -Al Saunders type offense into a more conventional ball control type with a heavy pounding running game.

Do you think that was somewhat due to the fact that they had so much turmoil at the QB last year and not exactly by choice?

Trent Green in Miami. Uh, I wouldn't count Culpepper out just yet.

here is a link from TSN backing up what I stated before:http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=174326

The firing of Chiefs quarterbacks coach Terry Shea could be an ominous sign for QB Trent Green, who worked well with Shea and was extremely comfortable with him. Shea served as something of a security blanket for Green, who struggled a bit in 2004 when Shea left to go work for the Bears. Shea's departure is an indication the Chiefs are veering further from the offense used by former coach **** Vermeil and former coordinator Al Saunders and will emphasize a ball-control scheme based on a power running game and a play-action passing game.

A "source at the NFL Combine" told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that Miami may have interest in Trent Green if he's placed on the trade block.

There have been no indications that Green is being shopped by Kansas City, but Tuesday's signing of Damon Huard will undoubtedly lead to more rumors and speculation. The Dolphins would seem a fit, as they recently hired Green's longtime friend Terry Shea as quarterbacks coach.

Uh, Trent Green had career highs in yardage, completion percentage, and TDs in 2004.

As a Phinsfan, getting Trent Green doesn't seem like a step in the right direction. Miami is not ready to win a SB right now so why bring a flimsy band aid in at QB...it might make more sens on a team that is playoff ready like Chicago where he has a good ground game, solid OL, defense, speed at the WR spot...that would be a good fit. Miami not so much.

I wanna see what CPepp can do with another year removed form that knee injury. We need a QB we can count on for the next 4-5 years.

C-Mart averaged 301 carries/season here in NY under Herm Edwards, and that includes the 2005 season when missed four games due to injuries.Herm is a great coach from a fantasy perspective: he LOVES to run the ball, and he's definitely NOT a RBBC guy.

not to get off the thread about Trent Green here, but LJ's Ypc avg. went down last year, while carries went up. In 2007, you're likely to see less carries, but more yards per..so, its probably a wash..if he goes back to his 2005 average of 5.2 per carry, it will take LJ just 344 carries to reach his 2006 rushing total of 1789 yards. That's 72 fewer carries. Thats more like Herm Edwards' coaching style.

and yes, whenever you put a second string QB in as a starter, you need to run the ball a lot, to keep pressure off of the guy, and to try to minimize the turnovers that second string players are prone to make at first.

LJ is pretty unlikely to average 5.2 ypc in 2007 if Huard's at QB.

I think he's assuming the entire KC offensive line gets in a time machine and suddenly play as well as they did in 2005 as well. If that happens it's entirely possible.

Chiefs | Green on the trade market?

Wed, 28 Feb 2007 07:37:26 -0800

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have called teams offering QB Trent Green in a trade, according to a source.

I quoted myself just for fun. And to add that my call on C-Pepp is based on his knee potentially never returning to full strength. He worked out on his own at a Miami strip mall to recover from the injury, he may have done himself in...
