Which SB champion had the highest rushing YPC average by its team RBs? And where does that team rank all-time? And which team had the highest RB rushing YPC average ever?

I would think that the Broncos 1998 team was pretty damn good.Edit to 1998; I thought '97 was TD's ridiculous 2000+ yard season.

1998 Denver was pretty darn good (4.83 YPC, second behind SF), but not the highest.

I will guess the 1972 dolphins for team season
Ding. That Dolphins team RBs averaged 4.86 YPC. The interesting thing, I think, is that they rank only 31st among teams since the merger. Now there have only been 37 years played, so ranking 31st is pretty darn good. But what it also means is that of the top 30 rushing teams since 1970, none of them have won a Super Bowl. (Obviously, I'm using highest team RB YPC as a proxy for top rushing team, which may not be as accurate as we would like.)

Top rushing season of all time (by a mile) is still out there. Not that difficult, so I'll reveal soon if no one guesses.

'78 Patriots? I know they ran for a ton of yards.

So did the '73 Bills.

The '78 Patriots RBs ran for the 10th most yards since the merger. They actually ranked 2nd in yards that year (KC), and ranked 3rd in YPC (the stat I've been using throughout the thread). In terms of how they ranked in YPC average, the '78 Patriots (4.46) are "just" tied for 147th best. The '73 Bills (5.41) are the second best rushing team by RBs since the merger, behind the '97 Lions (5.84). But the '73 Bills did outrush every team since the merger, with 2,940 yards. (The '97 Lions rank 30th in total rushing yards by RBs.)
