Trump v North Korea (1 Viewer)

Refreshing to hear someone laying down the gauntlet on that little spoiled SOB.

I defy you all to go look up the concentration camps in North Korea, a Holocaust situation has occurred in our lives and we were taught that we were not allowed to ever let that happen on this planet again.

Ignoring does not work.

Kim has gotta go, that country has to be freed of itself sooner or later. Those people deserve better and this entire World basically has turned a blind eye because it's messy.

"Trump had OJ for breakfast-- why doesn't he care about the grapefruit industry ?"

Some of the lefties on this board will complain about everything.

Trump enjoys going up against Kim Jong Un. He's one guy that makes Donald look relatively competent in comparison.

President Twitter, please do this stuff diplomatically.

Also, I wonder if Kim will try to hire Kellyanne.......she can spin the misery there into NK being a Korean Disneyland.

Trump is going to tell China they got 2 options with North Korea. The first is they can remove him themselves and work with US in finding new leadership beneficial for all or option No 2 is we kill him Special Opps and you better turn a blind eye because I'm about to cripple your little Wal Mart scam/scheme.

It's not as complicated as people think. Both USA and China stand to profit Big when 1956 North Korea topples and those people are free to create commerce.

Trump is going to reset that chess board sooner or later.

LOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG way to go before Lefties get past the amount of birth certificate complaining that emenated from all facets of The Right.

Nevermind the idea that "nuclear and North Korea" is a hella lot more serious than Barry Soetero and Kenya.

Hey Thunder, I don't disagree. I was not interested in the BC and never felt it was something worth much discussion other than to be a twit.

But at some point one of them has to grow up and not always play the even steven game. I agree that unfortunately damage was done. But DNC should try and and practice what they preach here.

I don't think DNC types who dig in against Trump are gonna do,themselves any favors. You can disagree with Trump philosophy but the results already are pretty interesting and he hasn't stepped in office yet.

A man with zero political experience just pulled off the upset of the Century so far, let's at least give him the first 90 days and see what he does.

This is like saying a deranged man just attacked a hospital ER, grabbed the scalpel away from the surgeon who was operating on your wife, and coming to the conclusion we should just give the poor guy a chance to see what he can do.

I don't view him as deranged and I think most who say that are short sighted. You can't pull off what he has over a long period of time being deranged IMHO...put down put down put down.

I think calling Trump names shows an inability to receive any information outside of Trump hate sites and Trump hate speech. Just my humble opinion.

Take a deep breath there fella.

This is another one of those things where I think people are not doing themselves a lot of favors by criticizing Trump for taking a completely uncontroversial position.  "North Korea must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, especially those delivered by ICBMs" is probably the least partisan opinion imaginable.  Forget R vs. D.  I doubt you'll find another country other than North Korea itself that would actually support the creation of nuclear North Korea. Trump's tweet, while aesthetically inelegant, is exactly in line with the position of the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations.

Of course, the hard part is figuring out how to stop North Korea from advancing its nuclear and missile programs without getting a bunch of people killed, and that's where Trump can royally #### things up.  But his tweet is just reiteration of longstanding US policy.

Donald J. Trump

✔@realDonaldTrump

North Korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching parts of the U.S. It won't happen!

3:05 PM - 2 Jan 2017
So then just 42 minutes later this prescient genius tweets this:

Donald J. Trump Verified account @realDonaldTrump

China has been taking out massive amounts of money & wealth from the U.S. in totally one-sided trade, but won't help with North Korea. Nice!
3:47 PM - 2 Jan 2017

- Point being, everyone knows that China is pretty much the ONLY country that NK will listen to, so I'd really like to know what Trump will do to persuade NK should China decide that Trump's a supreme #### who needs to be ignored when he needs their help?

Narcissists and psychopaths are often wildly successful in business. Trump has very obvious characteristics of both, and is absolutely a liar and a con man. Derangement = insanity which is a different category. Trump is not deranged but he is absolutely devoid of character.

I've read some right-leaning opinions that say "Trump meant that North Korea can't do anything right and their efforts will fail like all the others."

I've read some left-leaning opinions that say "Trump is threatening war against North Korea."

I imagine the truth falls somewhere in between,  but a President should not be Tweeting his every thought for the world to see.

All that matters is how NK reads it.

If you were a paranoid, dictatorial leader of a slave nation, how would you read that "It won't happen!" comment, as a prediction or as a threat?

McG I have a lot of respect for you, much more than you have for me. But with all due respect, for you to post that Trump is a con man and act as if the lifers in D.C are as clean as a set of virgin white sheets is just preposterous and shows a clear disconnect from what Trump supporters think. We know he is a wretched looking piece of fruit but the problem is so is everybody else in D.C. Once you pull the pretty outer layer back. Some not so pretty as well.

I don't have a lot of respect for politicians in general, that was a major voting block for Trump that will never vote again. I will vote again but I doubt a lot of Trumpers are running to the polls now unless he is part of it. You can disagree but let's not get so caught up on the oral, sorry moral high ground here. They all are evil and they don't really care about you and I. Neither does Trump but he is a problem for the folks on the Hill, that delights me.

Yea, I'm not really understanding the reaction from either side.  Just seems like more of the same, except it's now in tweet form.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a statement from any White House either:

a) publicly taunting the NorKoreans that they can't do it (whatever it might be); or

b) publicly threatening to stop them; or

c) leaving it vague for them to interpret as they will what was meant.

That's why Trump is naming Dennis Rodman as Official Ambassador And Pimp of All Pimps to North Korea.  Rodman will smooth it out.

This post is a perfect example of why political threads are so problematic here.  Completely unfounded and unprovoked, and not additive at all to the topic of the thread.

All successful politicians are somewhat narcissistic and con men/women. They have to been or they would be eaten up and spit out.

Jimmy Carter might have not been but he was viewed as weak. Nixon, Ford?? Reagan, Bush Sr, Slick Willy, George W, Obama, Hillary  all have those traits as does Trump.  Trump is just more open about it.

All the others operate behind closed doors so we really do not know who they really are.

Huge applause from me on this post. Honestly I didn't like being branded a blind Trumper but I think you are on to something here IK. I would encourage those who have managed to make it to this point in life to give him 90 days and see if he can even make one single change for the positive.

I already do not like Goldman Sachs in on everything. That said you would be foolish not to invest heavy in the stock market for the foreseeable future. Wall Street thru action not press clippings or some anti-Trumper wanting the spotlight for 15 minutes has basically breathed a big sigh of relief. I said it before and I will say it again. Middle class folks will prosper more under Trump and those who want to get up everyday and make excuses and walk around butt hurt and always saying they are a victim of society, those people are in for a rough ride. They had 8 years of a pretty forgiving President that expanded pools of people living off the government and even got a few reasonable folks in this country brainwashed into thinking Socialism is the way to go.

Brexit and Trump show that people do not all want that. In fact most places do not survive when everyone is getting checks from the government forever.

Clinton literally held a town hall debate about whether we should go to war with North Korea.  Not meant as a criticism of Clinton, just that they've been a PIA for a long time.

I simply pointed out who Trump is. I didn't make any comparisons to DC politicians. Though I doubt any president in history is as devoid of conscience as Trump. Certainly none in my lifetime.

In which I'm forced to praise Bill Clinton... the way I recall it Bill Clinton was the one who shoehorned NK into a joint framework agreement, which was an actual accomplishment. I don't recall any taunting/threatening.

By the way our President In Waiting has actually supported proliferation. What do we say to NK when they raise the point that our POTUS has suggested that Japan (everyone's favorite former empire which once occupied Korea) get nukes?

Honestly, #### 'em.  Japan is a liberal democracy that in no way resembles their previous empire.  I have the same degree of problems with Japan having nukes that I have with England and France having nukes.  Japan vs. North Korea is a textbook example of false equivalence.

Edit: Also, in what universe is having a town hall devoted to declaring war on another country not considered threatening?  Again, that is not a criticism, just a sanity check.

Edit 2: I mean, you can credibly argue that an individual tweet is just a spur-of-the-moment thought that might have been poorly worded and should be given little weight. You can't possibly make that argument about a publicly-broadcast discussion in prime time led by the President of the United States personally.

Nixon? Your political life is likely Reagan and on but Andrew Jackson's treatment of the Native Americans? Prior to all of us but heinous acts by American Presidents, history is rich.

I thought the second tweet was way more problematic than the first. In fact I'm pretty sure it provoked an audible expletive when I read it.

So now we are upset that Trump wants to take Nukes off the table for NKorea to saber rattle? I'm not saying that NK cannot do what they claim but a good chunk of the time they cannot carry out their tests with much precision at all. They have fighter jets from the dark ages. Honestly the second they aim or fire a nuke towards us I think every country that owns them minus China is going to fire them at will towards them at that point. Call it WW3 but I don't think China can take on everyone.

Russia would fire as well, yes they would. What you have left would be World vs China...

It's truly amazing that you think the problem people have is with his position, rather than the fact that it's on Twitter.

So then you enjoyed when George Herbert Walker Bush woke us up one morning to tell us what he had already done? That's the last Pres I can remember acting without checking in on the current temperature of the country.

Twitter helped Trump win an election, try to keep up in the 21st Century. He probably will send out Tweets from the White House, his voting block loves him for using it as a way to reach millions directly and also quickly. Surprised this is being seen as a strike against. If Obama had started tweeting I think most of his supporters would have called him progressive. Trump does it and it's viewed as terrible.

The cases against Trump lately are mighty weak. You all were better off bashing him and Billy Bush for their gynecology tour bus.

Up next, Instagram photos of the sit room.  21st century!

I don't think it's the act of tweeting (although I'd imagine that would bug some of the more luddite Silent Generation and Baby Boomers who couldn't turn on a computer with a box of chocolates and some silk sheets)....I think it's the message he he lets out.

There was a episode of The Office where Pam would tell Michael that she was connecting an incoming call and then she fake connected it so Michael said whatever stupid thing he wanted to say anf got it out of his system.  Kellyanne Conway needs to do this to Trump; tell him of a situation, let him fire off a Tweet that doesn't go anywhere....then come back to him a minute later and tell him he needs to do it again.  I'm sure the second time will be much better and much more Presidential.
