Tuesday Night game a trial balloon? (1 Viewer)

Was listening to a talk show that was saying that Goodell and the NFL have been tossing around the possibilty of Tuesday Night football for a couple of years now.

With that in mind was the NFL just waiting for the chance to cancel a game and move it to Tuesday to see the reaction and how the ratings go? Lets be real..the NFL has played football in way worse weather than what Philly got on Sunday.

I love the idea. I dont really get all the people complaining about bieng able to watch football games but spread out over more days.

I don't get it either. People are weird. If they could find a way to play 7 nights a week I'd be good with it.

I think it's something they can threaten the NFLPA with come bargaining time. The can talk about more Thursday games, maybe some Tuesday games, and then pull them off the table in exchange for some concessions from the players.

Personally, I've always felt that the best way for the NFL to get more TV exposure would be to break Sunday into three time slots, and broadcast two games in each time slot, regardless of whether the home team is playing in one of the games. Not showing a game opposite the home market team is just lame.

Honestly, the NFL doesn't need to test anything. If people watch a Monday night game, they'll watch an any night game. I'm surprised they haven't put a game on every day with complex scheduling rules for time between games. Nobody is going to say: oh this game is awesome too bad I don't watch football on Tuesday Wednesday Friday or Saturday. If there is a live football game on with access to watch said game, it will be watched. Why do you think all the most watched programs are football. I wouldn't be surprised if tonights game sets some Tuesday viewing record--just because it is football...on Tuesday.

I don't see Tuesday as a regularity because MNF loses it's luster as the last game of the week.

disagree. the 'luster' isn't being the last game of the week, it's being the only game of the day/on in prime time. Same luster applies to TNF.
