ETA: I had included Houston in the original poll, but lost the info when I hit "Back" :coffee:

Self-explanatory poll. Please, Turner owners, restrain from voting where you WANT him to go (Denver, duh)

*Jamal Lewis and Fred Taylor are not under contract in '08 IIRC ....feel free to let me know who else might not be signed beyond '07 and I will update the post.

Cl;eveland. The Browns will still have some cap room and with Quinn, Edwards, and Winslow would give the Browns some serious offensive weapons.

My first inclination is to say the Dallas or the Jets, given the past working relationship, but it's too hard to guess at this point.

Why not the chargers?

He might pull a Betts. They move towards more of a RBBC as LT approaches 30.

He probably might want to win a SB.

Browns? Titans? Texans? Really? He should just retire with the few million he's made and save himself the effort. Bash your head in 4 years with the Browns, then retire with concussions and leg problems! Yay! While you go 19-45. Woop de do. Look at Moss. The guy is giving back millions just to play for a SB. Look at Dillon. Waste away with a bum team, in a bum town, or live in Cali on a stacked team. The Texans? That's appealing to someone? Green is there because no one else wanted him.

Or stay with the most talented team in the league, and be SB contenders year in year out.

While I wouldn't suggest that's the most likely scenario, no one thought Betts would stay. I'd guess we're looking at 15-20% chance he signs a deal and stays with the Chargers. (for this to happen, they'd have to use him way more in the offense, and keep LT fresh with fewer carries. Plus LT has had over 2,400 touches in his career.)

No chance. Guy wants to start and the Titans reportedly offered him a deal with 14 million guaranteed. Chargers can't match the kind of money his agent will be looking for.

I think you make some great points, however, if he is anything like most other RB's in the NFL, he will not want to live under LT's or any other RB's shadow for the next 4-6 years getting 75-150 carries a season. He will want to show he is a truly talented player and can be an NFL RB, or if he can live with all the nicknames he would get for being LT's career understudy, bagboy, clipboard holder, stunt double, situational back, waterboy, quality backup but not quite talented enough to be a starter in this league. <--- everyone loves that old chestnut.I would still like to see him on the titans, as I think they have a solid foundation of talent and good coaches, and i think white will be the career back-up, who really is not talented enough to be a starter at the NFL level.

Houston.Ahman Green is a 1 year stop gap.
I'm inclined to agree here.I would have voted Tennessee, but honestly, I think the Titans will be in a position to draft McFadden and will be better off spending big $ on a veteran WR. Not to say they couldn't sign Turner too, but their attention should be on a WR. As it should have been this year.

Could be anywhere. It's almost pointless to speculate right now. He should be starting for someone. Trade accordingly.

What sucks for Turner in this is, it wasn't him that caused no trade:

(Rotoworld) Titans coach Jeff Fisher says the Chargers upped their asking price for Michael Turner on Saturday, ending the possibility of a trade.

Impact: "It became obvious to us they were not willing to move him," Fisher said. "They wanted the assurance of knowing they had a backup to LaDanian Tomlinson, I think." Turner is now almost certain to remain a Charger.

If I was Turner, it would be hard to not hold this against SD, suppose he suffers a serious injury and is never able to play again, or next year, even though he should still be fresh from lack of use, what if no one is looking for a RB and he will be 1 more year older and even less attractive than a "possibly" equal or slightly less talented rookie. that comes cheaper.

Obviously he must remain professional about it, or he will not even get a look next year, but this would be something I wouldn't soon forgive or forget if i were in his position.

LT is going to start until he's 34? I highly doubt that.LT has 2 years left until he's 30. Give him maybe 1 more year after that. And I can see a big RBBC trend coming for LT in the next 1-3 years. LT is hitting Tiki numbers, where his body will start whispering talk of retirement. I just don't see a LT getting 350+ carries until he's 32. That's just very wishful thinking. LT is approaching Faulk numbers where he started to decline. Injuries, getting worn down. LT has carried the ball a massive amount of times. As I said, the Chargers would have to start giving Turner far more work. Which is possible. Do the Chargers really want to draft a RB in the next two years? You've got an elite RB in house (or so people claim). A little surprising AJ Smith will just let Turner walk. He is a backup. When the Titans were wiling to give up a 1st, it's surprising he'd flatly refuse to deal him. It all really depends on LT health, and how much Turner gets involved. But as I said, it's probably 15% range, but there is a history of this with as recent as Betts last year.

You guys do realize that the trade deadline hasn't been surpassed yet, and Turner could be traded any day now.
Yes, but do you think he won't pull the same crap he did on the Titans on someone else? Something could happen to a RB in preseaason and force a team to trade (try to anyway) for a quality starting back, or could be something else in the works, just seemed like the Titans had met the requirments and had something going with Turned then the carpet got yanked out from under them. At least that is how it seems it happened, perhaps those reports are wrong and the Titans were not even in the ballpark. We will probably never know the truth.

Houston, Seattle, Atlanta, and the New York Jets are more likely than some of the teams listed here.
Houston I had on there before I had to re-do the post.Shawn Alexander still has a year or two left. It's be a little odd to pay huge money for a RB if he isn't going to start immediatly.I have faith in Jerious Norwood as an every-down back or at the very least- above average.Ditto MBIII.Thomas Jones is getting paid good money and Leon Washington will be sharing carries. Turner would be a nice complement to both, but I don't see it happening.

The thing that makes Cleveland an interesting candidate is the fact that they don't own a first round pick in 2008. There should be a few excellent backs available in the Draft, but the Browns like won't be in position to take one of the top few. Signing Turner seems like a good solution there, but I'm not sure if that's something Cleveland would generally do as an organization.

Cleveland tried to get Chester Taylor as a RFA, so I wouldn't be surprised if they make a run at Turner when he is a FA.

Most RB positions seems secure now, somewhat the purpose of the draft and FA that started a month ago. It won't seem that way in 08.

Some team's young RB will stink, some vet will get hurt....stuff happens. GL predicting that now

This has to be the most childish sentence I've ever read (excluding the FFA) in my life. Turner has talent, the only backup to the greatest rb in the game today and the team that he's under contract with is trying to do what's best for the team and their organization. And Turner should hold that against them............childish.

This type of thing happens every year.

????I honestly have no idea what you're talking about.
The Titans were meeting the requirements to trade for Turner, then on Saturday(SD) they changed what they wanted. so the Titans backed out. I posted the quote from Fisher in this thread. (I think it was this thread or the other huge MT thread)

Really Tex? IF you were offer a job with another Company and your current employer blocked you from moving on and making more money at what was your dream job. I think you would hold that against the company.I know I would......and if that is childish I guess I am!

There's a HUGE difference from the corporate world and the NFL. You can't compare apples to oranges. Turner will get his chance sooner or later and he knows this. Of all the teams in the NFL, the only team that saw anything in Turner was SD. I'm sure he's grateful.

It would seem hard not to hold it against them, he was being offered possibly a once in a lifetime deal. Yes he appears to be a very talented RB and something still could happen this year or next, but to ask for something, have someone (appearently) meet you demands and then renege on the deal.. If it was me, I would be pissed at them.

The environment may be different but human nature is the same. So it I were an NFL RB or a Teller at a Bank a would be bitter if my employer blocked my chance at MY dream job!In fact if I were Turner I would hold out. I would not come in until I had to for the year to count. But that's just me. And there are about 2.4 million reasons for him to play. More than anything I think I just dislike AJ and the way he operates.

Edit to say: Most NFL player realize what a small window of opportunity they have and to lose another year is pretty big!
