Turner to the Falcons? (1 Viewer)

Michael Turner-RB- Chargers Feb. 29 - 3:43 amThe Falcons have contacted free agent Michael Turner. The Falcons signing Turner would likely take them out of the running for Darren McFadden at No. 3. He'd be an excellent fit in new OC Mike Mularkey's power run game. It doesn't sound like will Atlanta have much competition.

The team in my league with Turner and Norwood has got to be hating life if this comes to play..... and to think, I offered 3 mid to late first rounders for them both last year..

Im kind of shocked someone would be jumping on Turner so quick. I guess the Deep RB draft didn't hurt his value too much.

With the cap room that many have it makes sense. You only need to give up cash to land Turner and you can use your pick elsewhere. Even in a "deep" rb draft, none of these guys have played a down in the NFL. At least with Turner the tires have been kicked and you know he can be effective on an NFL level.

This would seem like a good fit as I think Turner/Norwood would compliment each other well.

Does anybody remember who the main suitors were for Turner last year? I seem to remember GB and Tenn. You would think that some of the same teams would be wanting to bring him back again if they are still hurting at RB.

If ATL could pull this off with Turner it would free them up to pick up Matt Ryan (or roll with Rosy/D.J. Shockey) or another stud D Lineman (get Mario some help) in the first round.

This makes perfect sense for Atlanta.

Not sure what that RBBC does for Turner and Norwood....

I agree with that, However, the demand for Turner has dropped since the end of the 07 season. I haven't seen Turner mentioned around too many teams. Its a nice move by ATL to lock him up, I was just under them impression he would sit on the market for a week or more, drop his price and someone would get a solid deal.

Buff was also in the mix. I wouldn't expect any of those teams to be in the hunt for his services though. Grant has been a find, White is unspectacular but servicable and Buff drafted Lynch.

:loco: you're making it sound like he's already signed.

Whoops...I must have misread that blurb.

Maybe the public demand has dropped but it wouldn't make much sense for teams to go around talking about how much they covet him because:1) he's under contract2) it could impact how other potential suitors approach himTipping your hand publicly doesn't help in any way, it only hurts them.

With the money ATL would be paying Turner I wouldn't expect it to be RBBC. I'd expect Turner to be the starter and get the majority of touches. And having the RB1 role with defensive-minded HC and Mularkey as OC, Turner could be in many worse situations.

Atlanta would be a team that would make a lot of sense.

Last years #3 was Joe Thomas who got $22M guaranteed and $42.5M total. I'd rather pay that kind of money +10% to a rookie QB or Lineman than a RB.

Especially if you can bring in Turner for between 20~30M total which could be about half the cost of investing that top pick in a RB.

He'll be visiting a few teams before he signs anywhere. I wouldn't get too excited just because Atlanta happens to be his first stop.

I don't know whether or not this is worse news for Turner owners or Norwood owners.
Turner > Norwood Turner would be the starter IMO. Norwood would keep his change of pace role. I don't think Norwood will ever be an NFL starter.

I have both Turner and Norwood in my dynasty cap league for 4 more years at incredible prices.

I would be perfectly fine with Turner going there. He may not produce much this year, but after that, I think that offense will improve and Turner will be great if they are committed to a power run game. And I would already have his handcuff (though it could end up like a Taylor/MJD situation)

Obviously, I would prefer he goes elsewhere, but Turner to ATL is not doom and gloom for someone who has both Norwood and Turner.

I think Scooby might be combining the Falcons and the Texans.
Maybe he meant Jamaal as in Anderson?

just posted in falcons offseason thread that they signed redman to a 2 year deal today

The Falcons have re-signed quarterback Chris Redman to a two-year deal, according to his agent, Joby Branion.

Redman appeared in seven games for the Falcons last season, completing 59.7 percent of his passes for 1,079 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Redman could enter the season as the starter. The Falcons also have quarterbacks Joey Harrington and D.J. Shockley under contract.

Turner is a soft spoken, high wonderlic, guy. Kraft will most likely assign a dollar amount to this. Character is something Atl needs to work on.
