Twitter is about to Destroy Itself (1 Viewer)

It's gonna be like when that wikapeddish guy posts now...or worst...Gordon gekko.

Hopefully the hos will stick to posting pics and no words

If they show the tweets on everyone's timeline as 140ish characters with something like a "(cont'd)" button to click, I'd understand that and it could be pretty much business as usual. I think there are third party apps that already allow for that.

But otherwise, I have no idea what the purpose would be.

Not counting who you are sending it to as characters and going to 200 would be way better. The thing that makes twitter, twitter, is that it is not tl/dr.

(1/2) seems like a terrible idea. I like my info like I like my women, short and to the point.

From the article: "This person said, however, that Twitter Inc. is aiming to retain the look and feel of the user timeline. For tweets that are longer than 140 characters, users will have to click and expand to see the rest of the text. As users write beyond the 140-character limit, Twitter will signal to them that they have crossed the threshold as a way to encourage brevity."

It really doesn't sound much different from now, except don't have to use Twitlonger.

140 characters is nothing and makes it very difficult to express complicated ideas. The problem with Twitter is that it's mostly hot takes. (that was 140 characters)

Right, but you link to the longer content.

What they are doing here is stealing content. They are now taking content that would otherwise appear on other platforms and media and sticking it on their own servers.

It's a land grab.

That's a separate issue and one for sites whose articles are being posted on Twitter to deal with.

@actioncookbook: USERS: you're alienating the people who actually use your product

TWITTER: likes are now florps

USERS: what

TWITTER: timeline goes sideways
