Thanks for the great show. First year using return yards ,specifically 1 pt. for 25 yards, and wanted to know how much it should affect my rankings in an otherwise standard league. It seems that the returner position is an ever changing one and thus would be hard to project. Would appreciate any insight into leagues that use return yards. Keep up the good work!

Hey guys, thanks for all of the great info in the non-playing season. RB question, non-PPR league, start 2 RB and 3 WR. I currently have DWill, Grant, Moreno, Felix Jones as my keeper RBs, and just drafted Matthews. In your opinion, how do you rank this set of RBs?

Thanks.

Hey guys, I am looking for a good DTBC for the first 5 weeks of the season, since I am looking for a $1 D I will not consider any top 10 D, but will not drop to low to risk it with a bottom 5 unit.

Scoring favors strong DEF (Allows low scoring / low yardage) and get points for Special Teams scores.

For the first 5W, which DEF combo do you like:

TEAM W01 W02 W03 W04 W05

NY Giants CAR @IND TEN CHI @HOU

Gentlemen. Love the show and so do my dogs that get a 2 hour walk each time there's a new episode of the Audible up on iTunes.

So... finally my first draft of the season is upon me. A combination rookie/FA draft.

The cream of the limited rosterable FA crop seems to be:

QB: Kolb

RB: Michael Bush

WR: Gaffney, Jacoby Jones, Chambers

TE: Fred Davis

When in the draft would you start looking at each of these FAs over the given rookies?

Thanks! I'll put down my keyboard, and listen.

12 team dynasty PPR. We start 1 QB, 1-2 RB, 2-3 WR and 1 TE.

Guys, I don't know where I would be without your fantasy football insight and expertise--keep up the great work!

Okay, I'm in a 14 team auction dynasty league ($500 cap) and the scoring format is 1 point for 25 yards passing; 1 point rushing and receiving (basic scoring with no PPR). MY roster is as follows:

Kolb

Stafford

Wells

Stewart

Felix

Bradshaw

Foster

Sid Rice

Nicks

Maclin

Finley

Keller

I'm prepared to go to war with Kolb and Stafford at QB and have about $75 to spend on either another RB or two WR's--can I go to battle with that WR core, or do I need to spend much of my cash on someone in the case Rice, Maclin, and Nicks don't do as well as expected? I was thinking of trying to steal Randy Moss, or grab two guys, such as Bowe and Knox. Guys load up on RB's in this league, so I'm really debating between going the WR route, or adding another potential stud in Donald Brown (he is not on many people's radar screens).

Hey Boys, hope the dog days of summer are treating you right.

In taking a look at our rankings, a few players on Bloom's PPR Redraft rankings list (Cecil's aren't up to date!) stand out from the pack. Love to get your thoughts on a few of them, particularly those that you haven't talked about much on the show lately.

1) Donovan McNabb (consensus = QB9, Sigmund ranks him QB13) -- Is this worry about supporting cast? Worry about staying upright for 16 games? A combination of the two? Or more a testament to the guys you have ahead of him in what's shaping up to be a deep position?

2) Alex Smith (consensus = QB19, Sigmund ranks him QB27) -- Smith acquitted himself quite nicely in his 11 games last year, and you seemingly are a believer in other aspects of the SF offense (Gore, Vernon Davis, Crabtree), so are you expecting Smith to lose his job or get hurt? Because otherwise the QB27 ranking is really hard to fathom.

3) Jamaal Charles (consensus = RB11, Sigmund ranks him RB16) -- For a guy that helped you beat me in the FESL finals, where's the love for JC? :) In all seriousness, I'm torn about him myself but have come around to the idea that he'll get the shot to be the man and Thomas Jones will be a more conventional backup. We'll get some sense for that (I hope) in camp, but was wondering if there's more to your RB16 ranking than worries about the KC line and TJ's presence.

4) Joseph Addai (consensus = RB17, Sigmund ranks him RB21) -- You're not that far from the consensus. But you do have him out of your PPR Top 20 and yet, Addai has been a Top 12 fantasy RB in three of his four seasons, including a Top 10 showing last year. Are you that much of a believer in Donald Brown?

5) Anquan Boldin (consensus = WR17, Sigmund ranks him WR28) -- I'm with you that the distance between Boldin and Mason isn't going to be as wide as many suspect, and I too have Boldin lower than most (WR19), but in a PPR league, WR28 seems to be very low unless you doubt his ability to play more than 14+ games. Is that the concern? Because over the last five years the fantasy WR28 has averaged 58 receptions, 834 yards and 5 TDs. School some people.

6) Devin Hester (consensus = WR29, Sigmund ranks him WR20) -- Another player I'm with you as an outlier (I have him WR18), but it seems based on ADP and the drafts I've done that people REALLY aren't getting clued into the situation in Chicago yet. It's one thing to not believe Hester will be a stud, but it's another to then draft Aromashodu and Knox ahead of him, yet that's happening in nearly every league. Walk everyone through why you (and I) don't see it that way.

OK, that's enough for now. Can't wait to hear the discussion.

Hi guys - new to BTR and FBG.com, doing my best to get invovled and to remain active. Love my experience thus far.

My question is in reference to a statistic that Kellogg mentioned on air yesterday. He stated that "Every year, 4 or 5 of the top 10 QB's from the previous year, will fall out of the top 10 the following year". Assuming his info is correct and that this trend holds true, which of last years top 10 QB's will not be in the top 10 by the end of this year? And which QB's on the outside will move up to top 10 status?

Tx and keep up the awesome job fellas.

(PS - ATTN: Bloom) I emailed you a week or so ago in reference to FGore. Just wanted to let ya know that I heard recently on one of the BTR shows where he went #1 overall in a similar league. My confidence is growing...lol.

Great show fellas, appointment podcast for sure.

Saturday is draft day for my dynasty, PPR, IDP league. Always one of the highlights of the year, sunshine, a startling amount of beer and a way-to-competitive wiffle ball game to follow.

I only have one pick in the first 3 rounds so my question is about some players I am targeting with picks 3.12, 4.5 and 4.7.

I think Mike Kafka would be a great bargain with one of those picks and I don't think there is much of a long term difference between him and Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. I realize I will have to sit on him for awhile, but if Kolb isn't as good as everyone seems to think he will be Kafka could get a chance relatively quickly.

I also love Kyle Wilson. I think the rookie corner rule, combined with Revis being the one on the opposite side and an aggressive pass rush will lead to lots of tackles and big plays for Wilson. Corners get a bad rap in my league so I think he could fall to at least the 3.12.

I am also hoping Brandon Graham slips down the draft. The comparison to Lamar Woodley are common, but does Philly plan on using him as an end or OLB? I am probably only interested if he is going to play end.

Thanks guys and keep up the great work. Never doubt it's greatly appreciated.

Love the shoooooow. You guys are the Lennon and McCartney of fantasy broadcasting.

Here's a topic that I'd like to hear BOTH of you chime in on:

Lots of fantasy question marks that we hope to erase once training camp starts in a couple of weeks.

What are the Top 3 story lines that you're most eager to follow once the pads are on and the hitting starts?

Thanks!

Hi fellas, I was hoping that you would break down rookie TEs. Specifically Aaron Hernandez and Jimmy Graham. Both for this year, but more specifically for a Dynasty PPR.

Thanks again!

Hey guys, great work on the PPR mock draft at footballguys.com, that's the kind of stuff that sets you apart from other sites. I was wondering if you would spend a little bit of time talking about some different receiving situations.

First in Indy, do you see Reggie Wayne being a top 5 WR this year? and who do you think will end the season as the second best WR for them fantasy wise?

Second in Dallas, do you see Mile Austin being a top 5 WR or do you think with the addition of Dez Bryant his production will drop off from last year?

And last in Atlanta, a lot of people seem to think Matt Ryan will have a great year, do you guys agree with this and if so what do you see in store for Roddy White?

Thanks guys!

1) The current staff consensus ranking for Reggie Wayne = WR5, with the lowest ranking by Anthony Borbely (WR11) and the highest rankings by Waldman and Tefertiller (WR2)There is much less consensus about the next best Indy WR. Pierre Garcon is the 2nd highest in the consensus rankings (WR36) but he ranges from an 18th place ranking all the way to unranked (meaning outside our Top 60). Austin Collie is next at WR53 consensus, but more staffers have him unranked than don't while Waldman's WR32 ranking helps pull him into the top 60 consensus. Most of the staff don't currently rank Anthony Gonzalez, but those who do see him in the mid 40s (his aggregate ranking stands at WR67).2) Austin is currently WR7, with Mark Wimer having him way down at WR15 while Bob Henry has him at WR2. Dez is ranked WR38, which ranges from WR19 all the way to unranked. Suffice to say, not many of us think Bryant will hurt Austin's production.3) Ryan stands at QB10 currently, and our rankings are pretty tight on him as the highest (QB8) isn't far from the lowest (QB14).

Hi guys,

Thanks for the great show.

In a dynasty 0.5 per ppr idp league where you only have a 25 man roster, how would you structure your bench (11 player bench) with regards to spots for offensive and defensive players?

You guys rock - by the way Cecil, I heard Marc Schlereth use the name Albert Haynesworth"less" on NFL Live - did he steal that from you?

Hey Sigmund and Cecil,

With the recent assertions from Steve Slaton that he's fully recovered from his spinal condition/nerve surgery back in February

(During the July 4th holiday weekend, Slaton tweeted "Thanks everyone for your thoughts but … I'm back," Slaton said, via Twitter. "Thank you Lord for watching over me and helping me heal fast and correctly." Head coach Gary Kubiak has said he will not hold Slaton back from contact during camp.)

And given Gary Kubiak's praise of Slaton back in June:

(On June fifth, head coach Gary Kubiak said "I think he's regaining his confidence every day that he's out here. I just think you see a guy that struggled last year that's saying, 'I'm not going to struggle again. I'm going to get back to playing the way I'm capable of playing.' That's what's I'm seeing right now.")

how do you guys now view the RB depth chart down in Houston? Is this shaping up to be Arian Foster as the #1 down there, with Slaton as the change of pace guy, or are they members of a shared Running back by committee that also includes Ben Tate?

thanks,

MW

If you can believe it that segues into my question perfectly: If you guys are the Lennon' and 'McCartney' of fantasy broadcasting(I'll let you fight over who is who), does that make Garda 'Ringo?' Is Waldman 'George?' Is Faletti 'Stu Sutcliffe(minus the brain hemorrhage)?' Was there a 'Pete Best?'This important. I'll hang up and listen.

:matt jones drop:

:vuvuzela noises from our affable hosts:

:appreciation for this show (applause drop?):

thanks guys.

If you had to choose two receivers outside the top ten for PPR leagues to get a hundred catches this year, who would you choose and why? Who do you like to get 85+ catches and is going outside the top 35 wideouts and why? And please don't say Wes Welker. Thanks for the show guys.

Hey guys love the show! I've been listening to the new fantasy football show on Sirius Radio. Why don't you guys have a xm/sirius radio show? Don't they know your the best in the business.

Give me your favorite QB by committee combo from the following list. I'm in an auction league so I can take my pick.

Palmer

Farve

Ryan

Flacco

Henne

Roethlisberger

Freeman

Cassel

Sanchez

My favorites are Palmer/Stafford or Palmer/Roethlisberger

I like Ryan's work ethic and talent but not sure he has the weapons.

Henne could have some nice upside!

Thoughts?

Hey guys, is this the year to target a top TE in a PPR auction or is it still more important to spend on the RB and WR positions? For instance in a $200 12 team auction league, is Dallas Clark worth $17? Finley $14, Witten $14?

Yo Cecil and Sigmund! The audible is so far ahead of anything else out there, it's like you guys are Brady if he threw 50 TDs every year and every other team in the NFL had a QB from Buffalo not named Kelly (I'm a Bills fan so I can say that). Your knowledgeable, sincere passion trumps the ego-driven pablum that are mislabled as fantasy shows by a large margin.

I'm dying to know where you think Lebron James will go...oops sorry that's over and who cared in the first place?

Last week, Sigmund talked a bit about some things to look out for when creating the ruleset for a Dynasty League. One thing he mentioned was allowing teams to steal a player off another team's taxi-squad by giving up a draft-pick one round ahead of where that player was taken. I am commissioner of a dynasty startup where we have NFL size rosters (45 active players/8-man taxi squad), start a full 11-man defense, 10-offensive players and 1 kick returner. I was going to have a rule where a player could remain on the taxi squad for their rookie and 2nd-year seasons only. I wanted to know if you have ever been in a league where a taxi-squad player could be stolen? In my leagues, savvy owners covet their taxi projects and would unleash a heavily armed Dr. Rockso on anyone who might pilfer them. I know I would go nuts if the WR I drafted in round 6 of a rookie draft and had high hopes for was stolen for a round 5 pick. How would a rule like that work and why would it be good for the league? Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Long time lurker of the Shark Pool and just started listening to The Audible. Love the show.

I know you two are high on Nicks, but what type of production can we expect of Steve Smith? He was targeted a lot and was a PPR machine last year. Is it crazy to expect both of them to be in the top 15 in PPR? In PPR mock drafts, I find myself targeting Smith in the third, Nicks in the fifth, and Eli Manning in the seventh. Am I gambling too much on the Giants and their passing game?

Also, I am really high on Miles Austin. Teams can't double him with so many other weapons. He seemed to be targeted a lot by Romo. If you prorate his last 12 games to 16, you get about 100 receptions, 1600 yards, and 13 tds. Obviously, I don't have such lofty expectations. However, after the big 4, Gore, and Andre Johnson, all of the players have major question marks and Austin's floor seems relatively high. I currently have him slotted as my 7th player in PPR and wanted to hear what you two have to say about that. Specifically, I wanted to know why out of the four fbg projections, only one staff member has him having more than 80 receptions and nobody has him exceeding his yards and tds from last year despite not being the starter for the early part of the season.

I have a million more questions I want to throw at you two, but I'll leave it at 2. Thanks and keep up the good work!

ETA: In case it's not clear, I am talking about redraft.

Gentlemen and Scholars (You both are!),

I've been listening to the Audible for a couple of months now and I am seriously impressed. It's been only 5 years since I've started playing this Great Game, and I am officially hooked. Your podcast has been a great source of insight and has essentially become my fantasy football crack cocaine!

I am in a 12-team, 16-man roster, PPR (.5 points per reception) Auction Keeper League. We can keep 3 players from the previous year.. their salaries increase by 20% every year, and we have a minimum cost of $10. Currently, I am sitting on a glut of talent for the following prices ($200 salary cap):

Benson - $10

B. Wells - $10

D. Brown - $10

L. McCoy - $10

Pierre Thomas - $12

Vincent Jackson - $13

Desean Jackson - $13

My question actually surrounds some Auction Draft Strategy. In my League, I have noticed that the other Owners tend to gravitate towards the middle on pricing.. the studs are cheaper than I think they should be, but the 2nd tier guys are more expensive. I think I could nab Jones Drew, Gore or maybe even Peterson for around $50. I'm tempted to even try to snag Andre Johnson for around $40. Last year I won the league by going young playing for RB depth.. but I could really "crush my enemies, drive them before me and hear the lamentations of their women" if I snag a pair of studs and roll to the championship. Thoughts? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!

Cecil & Sig,

This season looks like one of the deepest years at the QB position yet to date. Would I be better off stockpiling RBs and WRs early in my PPR league and waiting for 2 mid to lower level guys like Stafford & Campbell at the QB position? (6 point TD passes)

Also, should the same strategy be employed for TE's who look to be super deep as well?

BUY or SELL:

Randy Moss will finish the season as a top 3 WR and get one last big pay day.

Hey Guys -

We will be drafting Head Coaches in our 12 team redraft league this year. Scoring will be +10 points for Win by the Coaches' team each weekend and -5 points if they Lose their game. The starting position in the lineup is optional, so every owner will need to determine whether to start a Coach or not depending on their confidence in that team's matchup each week.

Where would you expect the coaches for the top teams to start being drafted? We draft 17 rounds and have 17 roster positions, with 9 traditional starters plus the optional coach position.

Thanks.

Hey guys,

Have to say love the show and it is the best out there !!!

Any comments or more news on this possible Sidney Rice injury ??

Thanks ..

From another post in Shark Pool :

Agent says Sidney Rice has a lingering hip injury

Posted by Mike Florio on July 8, 2010 6:20 PM ET

Before Thursday, neither Vikings receiver Sidney Rice nor anyone close to him had anything to say about Rice having any injury.

After former NFL receiver Cris Carter called out Rice on Thursday for failing to show up for Larry Fitzgerald's workout session in the Twin Cities, Rice's agent has opened up about Rice's health, or more accurately lack therof.

Rosenhaus said on his Twitter page (via Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune) that Rice has "a lingering hip injury that he suffered in the playoffs." Rosenhaus also said that surgery isn't anticipated, and that Rice is "hopeful that he will be fully healthy for the start of the season."

If surgery ultimately is necessary, folks will want to know why in the hell the injury wasn't taken care of earlier in the offseason.

Then there's the possibility that Rice simply needed cover for his decision not to show up for the Fitzgerald workouts, and that his injury is either being exaggerated, embellished, for flat-out fabricated.

But if it's legit and if Rice ultimately can't go, maybe Rosenhaus can get the Vikings interested in one of his other clients, who is better known by his initials.

Hey Guys - I love the show.

I'd like a general breakdown of the NYG WR situation in PPR.

What are your projecitons and where do you have SS, MM, and HN, ranked on a general cheatsheet?

Also - why are you all ducking the FFA College FF League?
