Question on the Browns Running Game. The Browns are pitiful we all know that and they play the Steelers, Bengals, and Ravens twice a year, but they do have a pretty decent Offensive line and Running Game as we saw with Harrison at the end of 2009.

Who do you rank higher Hardesty or Harrison in a PPR Dynasty league?

Thanks guys

Do you guys see Adrian Foster being the main man in Houston? If so, after Mathews, I think Best, Spiller and maybe a couple guys like Barber III are off the board, is Foster a nice choice at RB? Or would Forte be better?

PPR

This is for a keeper league that runs thru next year.

Hey guys have my draft this weekend, having trouble deciding whether to take Romo or go QBBC? QBBC can be a tricky draft situation and sometimes I feel like I am guessing each week, having said that....

Who is the most likely QB outside the top 7 to make the top 7? In a QBBC do you go for one high floor guy and one high ceiling guy? i.e. and Eli and Kolb?

What is you're expectation for Ryan Matthews (thoughts on his preseason performance vs Chicago)? He kinda runs like Ahman Green, no? Would you take him over Romo, C Benson, Calvin Johnson, L McCoy, or G Jennings? If not how do you rank these guys (I have 4th overall pick)?

For WR2 which of these would you target 1st, then who....Ward, Welker, Nicks, Crabtree, Maclin, M Floyd or M Wallace?

Thanks guys, keep up the good work, you guys rock!

Evening Gents.

I'm in a 10 team, non PPR dynasty league with 4pts a TD for QBs. I have Drew Brees as my starter and Matt Stafford as my backup with scrubs/longshots beyond that. It is really nice having a stud QB that you can just plug in forget about. But I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a bad idea to trade Brees for picks/players and roll with Stafford. Am I insane here? Is having a stud QB too valuable to walk away from? Or is Stafford good enough (in a 4pt per TD league) to plug in if it allows me to add better players elsewhere seeing as I could trade Brees now for max value? Or should I sit on this idea for a year and see how Stafford looks for 2010? Thanks in advance!

First off, this is best FF site on the planet--keep up the great work. Okay, I'm in a 14 team dynasty auction league (standard scoring, non PPR) and am torn about going after a solid WR or RB, to add my existing roster. At RB, I have Stewart, Wells, and Bradshaw; at WR, I have Rice, Nicks, and Maclin. I'm leaning towards taking my existing money and going after a solid RB instead of WR--guys that I like and my money will most likely nab me are Pierre Thomas, Javhid Best, Ryan Grant, Donald Brown, or Spiller. Would you guys go this route, or draft another stud WR, such as Moss or Calvin Johnson (I don't have enough for an elite RB, but definitely will for a legit WR).

Thanks again!

I was catching up on some podcasts and listened to the Saturday morning Ridin Shutgun with Cecil Lammey from a couple of weeks ago (nice plug for you, no?) and I wanted to hear if your (Cecil) thoughts on drafting 9th has changed. You mentioned that was one of your favorite spots this year.

I'm in a 12-team PPR league and ended up with the 9th pick (If more details of the league are needed it's included below).

I have a pretty good feel for the 2nd round pick (there are some good WRs to be had there or someone unexpectedly dropping), but I'm having some issues with the 1st round pick.

As I see it, you have your top 5 RBs (up through Gore) and then AJ as the first WR to round out the top 6 players off the board. After that I see a selection of the following players: Steven Jackson, Moss, maybe Turner, maybe Fitzgerald.

With Fitzgerald being a little banged up and Leinart at QB, is Fitzgerald still a good pick in the first round?...seems a little risky to me? A lot of good WR have had a drop in their production when the QB changed.

I personally feel Turner is one of the safer RB picks to produce at a high level, but does his lack of involvement in the passing game make him a reach at the 9th pick in the first round?

Thanks for creating the great shows!

League Info if needed...

Starting Lineup: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (WR/TE), 1 PK, 1 DT

Socring:

1pt/25 yds passing

1pt/10 yds rushing/receiving

1pt/rec

4pt passing TD (with bonus for longer TDs)

6pt rush/rec TD (with bonus for longer TDs)

Hi Guys! Love.the.show. You're simply the very best. Thank you for all that you do – and it’s a WHOLE LOT – for the FF Community. Glad you’re back, Mr. Waldman!

1. In a 12-team, .5 ppr, 2-man keeper league I'll draft from the #2 slot his season, and have to choose just a couple of guys from the following (and lose that round’s pick).

Andre Johnson – 1st round

Steve Smith (CAR) – 2nd round

Donald Brown – 4th round

Cedric Benson – 7th round

Fred Jackson – 8th round

DeSean Jackson – 9th round

Miles Austin – 10th round

Shonn Greene – 12th round

Right now I’m leaning toward keeping DeSean & Miles. I know for a fact that AP is going first overall, which leaves me with an easy opportunity to re-draft Andre Johnson, or take Frank Gore (who I know will be there) with the second overall pick. Locking up my WR corps w/three studs looks really good to me, but Gore would be an absolute upgrade from last year’s RBs. What do you recommend?

2. What do we do with Antonio Bryant right now? Has he reached that “last spot” on the roster status that makes him expendable for fliers on lesser-known guys? Would you simply rather have Caldwell or Shipley in a non-ppr dynasty league?

3. Leon Washington – buy, sell, hold? If buy or sell, what’s his value -- in ppr, or non-ppr?

Thanks again! “You’ll always win” (w/The Audible),

The Riv

PS: Matt, I watched much of this year’s NFL draft with an unabridged copy of the 2010 RSP in hand. Congratulations and thank you for such an amazing resource.

Evening gentlemen,

So, I am in a 12 team redraft, non ppr, 6 points per td start 2 rb, 2 wr and a flex wr/rb, otherwise standard starting and I am picking 7th. Am I on the right track that at 7 you would either be looking for a Gore or Turner to fall or else you'll be looking at an Andre Johnson or Randy Moss? Or would you go after a Deangelo or SJax? Surely 7 is the wrong spot to take a qb.

Another problem I am finding is deciding on my wr2 (how far down in the rankings or adp can you go for a solid wr2) and whether to make my flex a rb or wr.

Of the rb's you guys are high on - Spiller, Mb3, Bradshaw type guys - would they be good flex guys or could they be acceptable as rb2 and how far down in rankings and adp can you go for your rb2?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the great show.

Hey guys. Just signed up for the FBG Players Championship last night. I know you can't play in the official tourney, but presumably you've given a little thought to the format with the 1.5 points per reception for TE (versus 1 PPR for other positions) and dual-flex lineup.

I was wondering what your TE strategy is heading into the draft in this unique format? Are you going after one or more top tier TE, knowing you'd probably be drafting them early, look for some mid-tier options or just out right wait at the position while bolstering RB/WR. Which undervalued TE would you target?

Thanks.

Hey Guys,

With the NY Giants' depth at WR do you lower Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks in PPR leagues? If so, how many spots? Or which players do you now draft above them?)

Assuming Dallas' offensive line is minus a couple of their projected starters due to injury (as it appears for now at least) do you see a particular player's #s suffering (Witten pass-blocking more, for instance)? Or do you think there's just an overall affect and more risk of inury to Romo?

Lastly, taking off your Steelers black-and-gold- shaded-glasses, what do you see as Mike Wallace's ceiling? Some people seem pretty high on him, but I can't see it...

MATT JONES BABY!

Have any players moved up/down on your board significantly due to the first preseason game? Specifically, did LeSean McCoy look particularly good or bad? You two have mentioned the entire preseason he needs to make that Jamaal Charles jump. Also, did anything jump out regarding the big 3 rookie rbs (Spiller/Best/Mathews) in their first preseason action?

Also, a more general question is do you ever not take the top player on your board due to the theory of VBD? I find myself gravitating to certain players that I fall in love with and reaching to get my boys more often than not.

With all the talk about Turner working on his receiving skills in training camp, how much do you think the Falcons will use him in the passing game? (I'd ask about Westbrook's effect on Gore, but that should be the one of the first things discussed tonight anyways)

Matt: Talk about upside down drafting please!!!!! Chatroom REACT!

As always, keep it classy.

:lmao: Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! Pick me!

In an all-IDP league with 2 DEs, 2 LBs, 1 S, 1 DB, and 2 DPs, how many of the top 12 should be LBs? 2 points per solo and 4 points per sack.

Oh, and sorry for squeezing another question in here, but...Kareem Huggins talk please!

Quick question:

You've been heavily pimpin' the QB-by-committee this year, and for most leagues I agree, but do you feel that it is as applicable in QB heavy leagues (i.e. 6pts/passing TD) or leagues with 2 QB roster spots? What modifications should we make?

Thanks guys,

Jonathan

Hey guys

Great show as always Gentleman, I am in a 14 team keeper\auction league. You get 1pt for every 10 rec/run yards and all TD's are 6pt. I am planning to go QBBC this year, as well use the RBBC for my RB2 as well. Since I have Chris Johnson as my keeper. Here is my list of ten players I am looking at for this idea, please let me know who would be the best fit for something like this?

1. Bennie Wells

2. Greene

3. JStew

4. L.MCcoy

5. Forte

6. M.Bush

7. Barber

8. Harrison

9. Bradshaw

10. P. Thomas

Also I wanted to see if my Homer love for my browns cost me 10 bucks, can Cleveland win at least 7 games this year? (please say YES!!!!!!!!)

Mr. B

What's up guys? 12 team 6 point per TD, Standard Scoring PPR league

Drafting this weekend from the 5 hole been looking real hard at the 4th round trying to snag Jahvid Best there, but its starting to acure to me that Wes Welker may be sitting there. Would you guys take Welker over best Best in a PPR league. Since it so hard to get a good read on the Welker situation where does his value fall.

Maybe a moment to discuss that tier of WR that could potentially "make the jump". That Harry Douglas/Devin Thomas/Jacoby Jones/Mike Thomas (and who else?) type group.

good evening guys

In a 8 team half point per reception league we start:

2 QB's (pass TD's are 6pts)

3 RB's

3 WR's

1 WR/RB/TE flex

What do you feel is the better draft strategy:

Draft 2 elite QB's OR draft 1 elite QB then play QB by committee for the 2nd QB spot

Thanks for sharing the football knowledge!

The WDIS stuff is really starting to lessen my enjoyment of the show. Just sayin. I'm guilty of it in the past, but at least I try to ask it in such a way as to make it applicable to the larger body of listeners.

Question for Matt, who is the best young running back that is not a starter or committee guy in the NFL. Meaning who are the real sleepers that have the talent to win fantasy leagues if the stars align.

Why do people insist on claiming that QB value doesn't increase in leagues with 6pt passing td, points for completions, or point per 20yrd passing? The way I see it, as QBs score more points there will be more points separating each QB, and it will be harder to make up those points with other players. In a 4pt league the difference between throwing 20 and 25 tds is 20 points, while in a 6pt per td league the difference is 30 points.

I feel a lot of people are confused about this. I also want to thank you for answering my questions.

Also, my user name is 'em-rip'

Who do you guys like the best in this group of WR's (assuming PPR)

1. Wes Welker

2. Steve Smith (CAR)

3. Crabtree

4. Boldin

5. Ochocinco

6. Nicks

7. Sidney Rice

I got a question for Matt Waldman: Why did you go out of your way to convince me that Jonathan Dwyer is a good football prospect?

Hey guys,

Love the audible. I download anything from Footballguys religiously on iTunes, and anticipate an episode everyday.

I know that the preseason is a snooze-fest by the time 4th quarter comes around (if not sooner). Any stats put up by those players can largely be ignored. BUT! I do wonder about play calling. I see that the Head coaches are still heavily involved in the play calling during the snooze-fest.

Does play calling in the pre-season transfer over to regular season? Because the NYG are calling so much pass plays, despite Tom Coughlin's comment about a more balanced attack. This could be especially important for me in the fantasy season whether to draft Jacobs or not

Waldman vs. Bloom...mano a mano.

Jahvid Best or C.J. Spiller in a PPR Dynasty League. Go!!

First time Shark Pool poster!

I have the 3rd overall pick in a 12-team, modified “3RR”-style redraft league. We start 2 RBs, 3 WRs & 1 Flex. Standard PPR scoring format.

With that 3rd overall selection, would you go MJD or Rice? Six of one, half-dozen of the other I guess huh? Or, since this is a PPR format and we can start up to 4 WRs, would it be too far a reach to go with Andre Johnson? I know this sounds insane, but since I will not select again until #22 overall in the 2nd & #34 overall in the 3rd, I am concerned that my WRs will not be competitive enough in this format if I go with an RB in the first.

On the other hand, if I go AJ in the first, I could either nab a solid ppr-RB like Charles in the 2nd or pair AJ with a solid #2 WR in the 2nd then assemble a plethora of RBs in the early mid-rounds. You know…the ole “throw ##### against the wall and see what sticks” method!

Any insight on how you would build the foundation of my team is greatly appreciated!

In a PPR yardage bonus league, I won last year, but this means I have the 14th pick every round (non-snake). With All Day, Frank Gore, and Roddy White as keepers, would you target a top tier QB or TE first over a 3rd running back or 2nd WR? We start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1RB/WR/TE flex.

Thanks

Hey guys thanks for the help last week, it's appreciated and I love the show!

In a PPR what do you see coming (numbers wise) from Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal. I had Royal last year and was burned by him (like everyone else lol) but think the talent is there to be a nice PPR sleeper. I also had V-Jax last year and think he too can produce as SD's top WR. Thoughts?

Thanks again!

**edit- Welker started so I pulled my question about him hitting the PUP**

Hey guys, great job with the show.

I read as much as I can and listen to multiple podcasts. The one thing that I hear over and over is. "he's worth a flyer in deeper leagues" or the opposite end of the spectrum is "Standard Leagues" Since there are so many different variations of leagues available can you clarify what constitutes a "deep" league.

Thanks

Hey guys, love the shooooooow. 10 team, 18 man roster, ppr, start rb,rb,flex,wr,wr, redraft, $200 auction.

My question is about being flexible during an auction draft. I've been doing dynasty auctions for about 5 years now and feel it's the ONLY way to draft in fantasy football. Last year I introduced it to my redraft league and everyone loved it. But I got caught off guard a bit by the studs being paid WAY more than what the dominator (my weapon of choice for drafting) said they should go for. So my question is this, do you "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" and spend more than recommended for the studs or do you hang back while the top 5 at each position go off the board and kill it during the 2nd and 3rd teir of player callups? Is it realistic to expect to win if you've got a bunch of second teir $10-$15 guys compared to some $40-$50 studs??

Thanks and keep on keepin on.

Cory in PR

I got a question for Matt Waldman: Why did you go out of your way to convince me that Jonathan Dwyer is a good football prospect?
Did you read my NY times piece? I don't think it was a very endearing analysis...
I was specifically referring to it. And I hope you know I'm kidding. I did draft him based on your thoughts that he could make it in the NFL but I always blame only myself for my picks.

Which non 1st round rookie offensive linemen have won starting jobs if any? Any info on how Bruce Campbell is doing at guard?

In a 16 team non-ppr that counts punt and kick return yards (1/10 and 1/20 yds) are there any fantasy backup RBs that become considerations as starters in this format (e.g. The Hyphen in Arizona)?

Thanks,

Mr D

Derrick Mason & Austin Collie ..... in my "main league" i have these 2 as my WR3 & WR5 (non-ppr)

same stats as last year for these guys ?

less than last year ?

(due to Boldin & Gonzalez)

better than last year ?

(Flacco makes the "jump" & Boldin takes the #1 CB --- 1 more year in the system, sure hands, & Manning believes in the kid)

PPR league. I did quarterback by committee and I've got Favre and Palmer. Which one will be more consistent? For recievers I got Calvin Johnson and Mike-Sims Walker, do I go with Meachem or Nicks as my third option?

Please ask Matt if he plans on a 2010 follow up to the article he wrote in 2009 which identified Breakout Wide Receivers. He identified them as receivers between their second and fifth season who in the prior year had at least 41 receptions, 400 yards, and two scores.

This is an excellent article and I'd like to know who he is considering this year based on that criteria. Some that come to mind are Hester, Knox, Aromashodu of the Bears. I'd be interested in knowing his thoughts on such receivers as my drafts are coming up soon.

Hey Guys, another Audible Addict here.

My question pertains to my mixed keeper league. I have Brady as my QB keeper (We keep a starting lineup basically). Besides the fact that I feel I can no longer trust him if my team gets to the playoffs, I'm concerned about when the time to find his replacement is. How do you decide it is time to move on from your stud QB? OK, I know you should always be looking to get that next better piece to the puzzle, but it is Brady.

I'm confident that he can help get my team to the playoffs, but I don't think he can help win me a championship.

I've thought about benching him in the playoffs (assuming I get there) and rolling with Alex Smith or Josh Freeman (love their playoff schedules) am I crazy?

Very QB friendly scoring league.

Guys,

Great show as usual! I caught the Conan reference last week.. nice touch. It's always inspiring! :(

Question regarding Tom Brady and the Patriots passing attack in general. Do you see some upside here, with the possibility of both Welker and Edelman working out of the slot? I read an article on ESPN that alluded to this, and I was wondering what you thought about it. Brady is one of the two top QBs left in my Auction Keeper league, and I am tempted to try and steal him while his value is low.

Thanks in advance!

I have snagged WR Harry Douglas in the last round in 33 of 41 of my PPR leagues. WHat role could he have in ATL this season? Can he win the WR#2 job over Michael Jenkins outright?

If he does, I'm winning at least 2 dozen league championships this year.

Can we got some clarity as to the current situation with the New England wideouts. People are saying Edelman, others are saying Tate, others Price for that third spot. How is Welker really looking and if he is healthy are any of these other guys worth rostering in redraft or dynasty.

Percy Harvin is in the news today with the migraines again. At what point does he start to slide down the rankings and how far do you drop him? Obviously the news of Favre coming back helps him, but how do you weigh this type of illness in your rankings?

I'm not much of a college football watcher. But who should I keep an eye on since I have three first round dynasty picks in 2011?
