Two tight end strategy in PPR league with one at FLEX (1 Viewer)

I have an interesting idea about running two tight ends full time throughout the season. I have the 8th pick in my 10 man PPR league. Heres how I would go about it: First round draft Travis Kelce (I know he will be available for me there), second round take a RB, and then come back in the third and take Waller/Kittle. This way I would have my flex on lock for the entire year, and if my team needed a WR or RB, I could easily move one of my TEs for a valuable piece. Not to mention having a monopoly on top TEs. Anybody have opinions on this? Seems pretty cool to me.

Our 10 team PPR FFL had this very thing happen last year with a team.  He had the #1 overall pick though.  Took CMac who go hurt.  He took Mahomes and Kelce next.  Got Waller later in Rd 5/6 I think....

He won the league....

In TE Premium, it is almost a given to start 2 TE.  Some PPR leagues give 0.5 ppr extra for TE making them worth the Flex play.

The problem is the scarcity of the position makes them a challenge to have consistent play for start 2 TE.  Depth is vital and injury could cripple your chances (*just like any key positions)

Range of outcomes is a good way to think about it. Maybe, at age 32, Kelce repeats his 2020 or 2018 performance. That gives you the equivalent of the WR3. Which would be great....except you took him in the first, when 7-9 RBs will go. Effectively you took the first or second WR/TE to get...the WR3 production.

With the 13th pick you take say Jones/Eckler/Harris (instead of say Chubb/Elliott/Taylor)....coming back at pick 28 you take Waller. What if you get the STILL VERY AWESOME OVER 1K 2019 version of Waller bc of TD regression, and he ends up being the equivalent of WR30. You passed on McLaurin/Lamb to prove you’re the smartest guy in the room?

Also, at pick 33 you’re picking up Lockett/Moore as your WR1.

It could work out, but seems a bit suboptimal. Those early round choices reverberate throughout the rest of your draft.

Run your (or someone else’s) points projections with the WR/TE positions combined. If it works out that a TE is available when it would make sense to draft a WR or TE, go for it. Don’t force it, though. I’m in a similar situation in a 12 team league where a TE can fill a WR slot, but not vice versa. It seems doable from the early positions where you can grab a stud RB in the first, Waller in the late second and Kittle in the early third. Also possible to go Kelce first and Waller second but feel that’s a reach for Waller and puts you in a suboptimal position at RB. Obviously 10 teamers it would look slightly different.
