While reading the Javonte Williams thread, many people were wondering which RB's would make the final 53 man roster. This got me thinking - how do teams divvy up their roster spots? Last season, this is how teams began with their initial 53 man rosters (only going to list QB, RB/FB, WR, TE):
QB - 76 (low 1, high 3)
The average was 2.38. The Patriots were the only team to carry a single QB, who they gave up on.
RB/FB - 124 (low 2, high 6)
The average was 3.88. The Patriots were the only team to carry 2 RB's, and of course their star got injured with 5 games left.
WR - 190 (low 4, high 7)
The average was 5.94. As expected, the Patriots were one of a few teams to carry 7 WR's, none of which finished in the top 60.
TE - 109 (low 2, high 5)
The average was 3.41. The Patriots were the only team to carry 2 TE's, and of course their star got injured with 3 games left.
Like the Patriots, the Colts stood out as well. They carried more TE's (5) than RB's (3) or WR's (4). I guess it is a crapshoot trying to figure out.
