UDFA signings (1 Viewer)

Yet to hear any news on WR Richardo Lockette
Post #8
Seahawks

Brett Osborne (OT, Harvard)

Jeron Johnson (S, Boise State)

Ricardo Lockette (WR, Fort Valley State)

Ricky Thenarse (S, Nebraska)

Ladi Ajiboye (DT, South Carolina)

Michael Morgan (LB, USC)

Doug Baldwin (WR, Stanford)

Pierre Allen (DE, Nebraska)

Jesse Hoffman (S, Eastern Washington)

Sazenbacher to Bears, good fit for him in Martz O
At 5-11, 182, Sanzenbacher is not exceptionally big, and he ran a 4.56 40 yard dash, so he’s not exceptionally fast. But he was voted a team captain and team MVP and was first team all Big Ten.I don't know about the Martz system, but he'll certainly fit in with the rest of the crap we have at the position. :wall:

He is a pure football player, and should be a very solid reserve option

Martz wants guys who can cut, and I believe Dane had one of the better agility tests at the combine. He's perfect project for the Mike Furrey/Ricky Proehl/Kevin Curtis role...I think the issue is you have a different idea of what fits their system than what they do if you aren't satisfied

First time in a while the Steelers actually signed some guys with real promise. John Clay and the huge TE from USC, and my fav....

Marshall Pro day: When Mario Harvey found out he was not among the invitees to last months NFL Scouting Combine, Marshalls pro day emerged as this fiery linebackers key chance to show NFL teams what Marshall fans have raved about for ages. Of the 12 Marshall players and one small-schooler who worked out for NFL personnel on March 16, it was Harvey who made the most of his opportunity. The 5-foot-10 7/8, 250-pound fireplug registered a stirring 4.46 40-yard dash and put on a strong positional workout for onlookers, including a New England Patriots scout who took particular interest in the Thundering Herd defender. Harvey also logged a 32-inch vertical and 9-5 broad jump, with a 4.19-second short shuttle and 7.13 three-cone drill result. Harvey is an aggressive, energetic, play-making defender some NFL team will take a chance on him for his special-teams promise and potential on defense. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Not sure whether the initial post has been updated, but did someone forget to wake up Al Davis?

Usually when you have to reach for positives like this about a player, it's because there's an absence of any definable aspect that makes the player a good prospect. I'll be really surprised if he ever makes an impact anywhere.Main point: we are awash with these types of receivers. Bennett is a perfect example and was a more accomplished college player in a tougher conference, and even played with Jay.

What this team has lacked, for, well, pretty much my entire life, is a true WR1. Obviously we're not going to get that from UDFA, but I don't think we need more "heart" or anything else at the WR position. We need raw, God-given talent and ability to beat defenders over the top. Cutler has been asking for one since he got signed, and I'd like to see them give him one.

Interesting that the Bengals, Raiders and Redskins only have two each. Out of the first 260+ only six have gone to those three teams.

Turns out if you a crap organization for long enough not even UDFAs desperate for a shot at the dream will want to play for you.

Maryland TE Will Yeatman to NE. A notre dame transfer who should battle it out with 7th rounder Lee Smith. They are both great blockers, but I like Yeatman better in the passing game. He has great size, 6'6 270, and is a good pass catcher for someone that big. He also played lacrosse at Maryland which is one of the top teams in the country.

Good theory, but Jags seem to be in the lead for number of signings, but I have no idea what the quality of players they are gettting.

The Jags have a long long way to go to compete with those three teams. /hijack

Texans are loading up on WR's: Maehl, Toliver, and Lester Jean all quality UDFA prospects, gonna have a hard time cracking the top 4 with AJ, Walter, Anderson, and Dickerson entrenched. Maybe they don't re-sign Jacoby now though?
Hopefully that'll be the case. Given defensive needs and their cap situation, if they can have a quality 5th WR from UDFAs it would definitely help the team situation out.

Nah, the Bengals are just notoriously quiet about everything they do and don't have as many people digging up the names themselves. They are getting people too.@joereedy Joe Reedy

Lewis says he has about a dozen college free agents committed

Kent State safety Brian Lainhart

Illinois State OT Chris Riley

Hampton RB (maybe FB with his size) Steve Johnson

Arizona St kicker Thomas Weber

Kentucky OLB/DE DeQuin Evans

TCU Bart Johnson

South Dakota St TE Colin Cochart

These are the ones the Bengals' boards have tracked down.

Just was doing some research on Josue Paul. He is 6'0 225 lbs, and has a running backs body. He runs a 4.3 40 yard dash, did 28 reps on the bench, and has a 33 inch vertical. He uses his wide body to his advantage, and does everything like a WR, including running good routes and using the whole feild, but once the ball goes up he turns into a TE and boxes out the 5'11 180 pound corner. He also got carries and returned kicks, which showed some of his versitility and break away ability. Sometimes it takes the entire defense to bring Paul down, and he gets great YOC. He is also a legitimate deep threat. Obviously going from Centeral Connecticut to the NFL will be a huge jump, but I think in a couple of years he could be a starting WR. He is one of the most intersting WRs from this draft because of how much of a unique player he is. Here is some film of him:

Thanks for posting this. Coincidence it is then.

Johnny Knox is one of the fastest players in the game. Dane is faster than that 4.56 and is an excellent clutch reciever. I still don't understand why he wasn't drafted. Reminds me of how most had good things to say about Blair White last year and while White certainly doesn't have a high ceiling his solid play was always deserving of a roster spot over high risks a lot of teams take.

Hawaii WR Rodney Bradley to Ravens

Houston OT Isaiah Thompson to Bills

Illinois DB Travon Bellamy to Rams

Boise State S Winston Venable to the Bears

Raiders sign Sterling Moore who played locally at Laney College and Deer Valley High, the same school as RB Taiwan Jones.

Nice find. A "diamond in the rough" type of prospect that will need to be developed, but worth watching for sure.
