UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (4 Viewers)

meh.  Diaz was getting his ### beaten.  it sucks it ended on a cut but the result was very unlikely to change.  Mastivol wasn't tired and was winning easily.
I agree.  Despite the 4th and 5th rounds being "Nate Diaz's rounds" I think he was saved by the stoppage.  He wasn't winning a decision being down 3 rounds, and I doubt he was going to submit a guy that held his own vs Damian Maia.

Kevin Lee was the highlight of the night imo.

The UFC is so competitive right now, the booker must have his work cut out for him.

I am pretty sure the booking last night wanted Walker, Gillespie and Luque to take next the next step by beating a solid name opponent and all three lost.

Not disagreeing that Mas was likely going to win, but you don't have to be tired to get ktfo.  Nate is a tough one to count out with 10 minutes left to play around with.

Stinks that the fight was called, but Diaz was getting killed.    It would have been fun to watch Diaz get pounded on some more.

The Zabit - Kattar main even is only 3 rounds? The heck?
from what I read, this was a late replacement as the main event.

Since the fighters signed the contract to fight for 3 rounds, they both decided to keep it at that length since that is what they trained for.

As it is not a fight for a belt, it does not need to be 5 rounds.  We have just grown used to all main events being 5 rounds for a long time now.

I'm official off the Diaz Bros. bandwagon. Those guys cry about everything and take offense to everyone. Get over yourselves. You're not anywhere close to being at the top of any division and Nick is completely irrelevant.

Yeah, the victim schtick is a little tired.  The sad part is the window is rapidly closing as they get older.  Nick arguably missed the best years of his career because of stubbornness.  Was a 5 year suspension excessive for weed?  Yes, but it's been over, get back in there.  I'm a nick fan and that's why this has been frustrating.  They both could have fought 10× by now.  And he does himself no favors in interviews.  That was basically incoherent rambling and somewhere in the process he may have called out Jorge Masvidal for saying he was going to "baptize his baby brother".  Someone should tell him Nate is a grown man who doesn't need a guardian.  He really may have too much cte.  Nick has had a boulder on his shoulder since his teenage years and it has never gone away.  He needs a psychiatrist bad.

Yes, I tuned into that interview and switched off after 30 seconds of nonsensical rambling. I'm not sure why ESPN didn't edit that segment.

Sounds like this was a very entertaining night.

I went to two boring AF Christmas parties instead. Shoulda stayed home to watch the fights.

Agree.  i thought Overreem was winning for sure.  crazy 5th round KO.  Was shocked that opponent didn't pounce at end.  Ref bailed him out.
Rosenstruik was very lucky. I’m not going to rip the referee, but the way it played out,  it was kind of a bad stoppage. Obviously the referee knows there’s well under 10 seconds left, and because Rosenstruik retreated (actually turned his back on Overeem with his hands raised) there was no danger for the downed fighter...who was of course on his feet when the fight was stopped. Again, it wasn’t an egregious stoppage so I’m not outraged, I just don’t think it was necessary.

Mother of god.

I don't think I have ever seen a cut quite like that.  Did a seam on his glove help rip it like that?  It looks like a drunk butcher with a pair scissors got to him.
Only similar thing I recall is Robbie Lawler after the Rory McDonald fight.  I will consider my life a success if my face never looks like that at any point.

Wife’s birthday is the 14th, so we are heading to Vegas for the fights. We have a reservation at Lagasse’s Stadium for the night - staying at the Venetian so it’s perfect.

There's gonna be some type of controversy tonight, right? There always seems to be some kind of F up by someone somehow.

I had Aldo winning that fight. 1st round was close but leaned Aldo. Jose won the 2nd for sure. The 3rd was close, Moraes took over the last 2 minutes of the round.

Not the worst decision I've seen but thought Jose did enough to win it.

While not a great fight for the fans, that was probably just what Amanda Nunes needed to keep her honest, a tough 25 minute grind it out fight

I haven't watched a card in awhile with listening to the commentary, but they seem to have gotten worse with the way they call the fights sometimes. Sure Max was eating some low kicks, but they were making it sound like the fight was over. Maybe it is just Cormier when he is there, but it seems to happen more often when he is calling fights. I don't know if it is done on purpose, just seems "off"
