I have read that he was actually a fairly normal guy at one time. When he was told he was going to be cut by the UFC, he "invented" the current character you have seen the last many years. Where the line crosses between the heel he portrays and what he is really like, probably will continue to blur the more he stays in character, which for him seems a 24/7 type thing.would love to know how much of Covington is just schtick. watching the post fight conference, dude just seems to be a huge troll, and not really standing for anything that isn't just finding a way to promote for his next fight
Well he IS a gullible egomaniac. So the answer is: anyone that wants to.He plays pro wrestler better than today's pro wrestler.
I love Colby. Whatever you gotta do to promote/market yourself. He brings it. And people talk about him.
Whatever your political stance aside, how many other fighters have the president on the phone postfight?
Agree. Never understand the hate on Colby. He plays pro wrestler better than today's pro wrestler.

yup. was watching some stuff on youtube last night and found this clip:I have read that he was actually a fairly normal guy at one time. Woodley had no business in there with him last night. Should have left his gloves in the octagon. They should still look and feel brand new.
It works, but his shtick is more cringy than Cejudo.modogg said:the bolded above is going a bit far with it. Not really hard at all to see why he brings hate upon himself. He is a troll, and good at it. MMA media loves to eat up a good story, and Colby just keeps it going and plays the character very well
Ummmmmmmmmmm... did you actually watch that Usman fight? He had a more impressive win over Woodley than Burns or Usman, and the 5th round would have been ground and pound.
Arguably Colby fought a lesser, older Woodley but he had him leaking. Those elbows split him. I think he would have finished it properly big given the opportunity. Usman and Gilbert both dominated him, but they didn't do the head damage.Ummmmmmmmmmm... did you actually watch that Usman fight?
Usman took Woodley down and laid on him with ground and pound for the entire 25 minute fight. It was a complete and utter dominance performance.
That being said, I think the Usman-Colby fight will be a coin-flip. I can see it going either way in a competitive fight.
damn. nice picking.Agreed, this is a great non-PPV card.
Colby Covington vs. Tyron Woodley - Bully beatdown. Hope that Woodley rage engages but Colby stops him by TKO in the 4th. Colby even thinks of easing up in the 4th to dish out more punishment in the 5th!
Donald Cerrone vs. Niko Price - Going with youth on this one. All 30-27 decisions.
Khamzat Chimaev vs. Gerald Meerschaert. Chimaev time. 3rd round stoppage.
Johnny Walker vs. Ryan Spann - Walker gets back on track with 2nd round KO.
Mackenzie Dern vs. Randa Markos - Dern takes this with a decision as Markos is tough and stays in the fight.
Kevin Holland vs. Darren Stewart - Holland in decision.
I like the idea of the backup during these times, but I'm curious what the plan for him would be if the fight happens. They tried to match him up with Tony & Dustin but they want each other. I don't think he should necessarily get the winner of Khabib vs Justin either.Michael Chandler is the backup for the Gaethje/ Khabib fight. He’s pretty good, but I don’t think he’s in the same class as the top 5 UFC guys in that division.

But it's 8AM in UAE now.absolutely dumb to have the co-main not start until midnight
Hats off to Kevin Gastelum for making this guy look like a Simpson character. Nobody can even touch him in 2020. He leveled up.Like a surgeon.
I think Costa is extremely dangerous, but Izzy is on another level and made him look like a rookie. That was easy money. Not mayweather vs mcgregor easy...but pretty close.
meathead gets KTFO. Costa was all bark and zero point zero bite
Deleted already whatever it was.More fighters need theatrics and promote themselves like this.
Kudos to his opponent for keeping a straight face![]()
