What scares me a little is how it was announced. No one on the outside, including Chandler for that matter, seems to know why. One would think if it was something simple (like scheduling, or someone got sick etc), they would just state why it was postponed.

I guess we just have to wait it out and see if gets rescheduled or not.

Interesting that Connor said cancelled instead of postponed.

Ariel Helwani said there is nothing nefarious behind the postponement/cancellation so I guess we now wait for Bones to do something dumb.
 
Oh dear. Nothing is definite yet but the UFC have already put out feelers to see who can replace Connor.

Poor Chandler. He waited so long for red panty night and now may miss out.
 
Dana White just announced that Conor McGregor is OUT for UFC 303 he says that Conor suffered a shin injury during sparring BUT he also confirmed that there is a back up fight in the works with Alexander Volkanovski

Latest on UFC 303:

Around this time last week, all the anxiety surrounding the UFC 303 main event seemed to start to dissipate. By Wednesday, no more feelers about replacements were being sent out. All systems seemed to be a go (again). Later in the week, Chandler did an interview with The Pivot about it being all good, and on Saturday UFC was promoting it again on the ABC fight night telecast. There was a scare about the fight being off and the scare appeared to be no more.

But since this morning, multiple sources are now saying feelers are being sent out again for June 29. For a replacement and/or new fight(s). In short, there seems to pessimism all over again regarding the status of the 303 main event. Actually even more pessimism - it seems - than on Monday last week after the presser was cancelled at the last minute.

Is this insurance? Due diligence? Emergency replacement mode? Remains to be seen. It's all developing (again). But it doesn't appear as though we are out of the woods either way just yet. More to come, and hopefully a definitive answer one way or the other In short order.

It’s not 100% off but I’d be extremely surprised at this point if it remains and they are actively negotiating with multiple camps to find a replacement. It’s all up in the air still but they are proceeding at this time like they need a replacement.

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 has been canceled, per Dana White.

The new main event is Alex Pereira vs. Jiří Prochazka for the light heavyweight title.

McGregor vs. Chandler will be re-booked later this year. The fight has been pushed because McGregor suffered an injury right before last week’s press conference in Dublin. Everyone involved - the UFC, McGregor, Paradigm - did everything in their power to save this. It didn’t look good initially, then it didn’t, then it did and finally it didn’t.

The plug was officially pulled a little less than 48 hours ago. There weren’t a ton of options. Pereira x Prochazka was always a top choice, feelers were sent last week, but there were hurdles: mainly, Pereira is in Australia on a seminar tour and is getting over a couple broken toes. But he stepped up. Again. Prochazka was in right away. And so it’s set

Potentially better match than would have been. Conor is not he Conor of years past. I may be a bit bias as Pereira is my favorite UFC fighter. Prochazka always brings it.

Jiri better have better defense than he showed in his last fight or Pereira is going to put him out quick.
