UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (7 Viewers)

Did he call out Couture after the win?
Would be more interested in that than fighting this Tom Aspirin nobody that's apparently a champ of some sort. Because no one knows or cares who Tom Aspirin is.

The only eye balls UFC will draw is with guys that have been inactive 3-4-5+ years. Their marketing of fighters themselves is long long gone.....

It was quite ironic Pat McAfee had Dana White on his show this past week and outright said to open the interview "I had no idea Jon Jones is fighting this weekend". Arguably the greatest of all time and no one has a clue.

Quite telling

The money and marketing is with the boxing 🙂 shows at this point.

I get IFC wanting the Jones - Stipe fight, but Stipe was the 8th ranked heavyweight and hadn't fought in 4+ years. Stipe pretty much had zero chance.

Aspinall is the #1 ranked heavyweigh contender, but Dana doesn't want Jones to lose, and Jones doesnt want to risk his legacy against an up and comer.

Dana will preserve Jones' legacy by any means necessary.

Shrug.

Boxing and MMA have never been more available to watch. It's super annoying to have all subscriptions and stuff so they need to figure out something.

But I just watch what I can and catch up on the other stuff that I don't catch live. As far as big fights I guess for the casual I can understand the frustration. I hate talking to casuals about fighting though because I get nerdy and people look at me like I'm talking a different language.

Dooho Choi v Landwher is literally the fight I'm looking forward to the most on the schedule. So I'm probably not the target demographic

I'm not saying you're wrong, in fact, I definitely think Jones doesn't want to fight Aspinall.

But what does Dana gain from not making Jones v Aspinall?

after jones beat gane for the belt he had stipe scheduled to defend it but jones tore his pec and had to take time off. during that time aspinall wins the interim and becomes the #1 contender but when the jones/stipe fight was originally signed that wasn’t the case.

UK fans are blowing this up because they finally think they are going to get a champ but jones wasn’t ducking anyone, you are in here enough to not fall for these casual call outs

I think Dana feels like Jones is his UFC crown jewel and wants him to retire undefeated so he can always say he's the one true MMA Goat.

Which is why we won't see Jones - Aspinall IMO - there's just too much risk.

I didn't know Jones was fighting either until I saw a banner ad on my Roku menu. The star power is nearly gone and the maga connection gives me the ick. 🤢

Crazy how boxing (even if of this genre) and UFC interest have completely flipped.

People were saying a few years back that boxing was dead and UFC was thriving.

All the talk going into this weekend was 58 year old Tyson and YouTuber Jake Paul. Not a peep about UFC and Jones. I don't even recall last time any friends or acquaintances even mentioned UFC. Multiple years at a minimum

so it’s dead because you and your friends don’t talk about it, got it. They generated over $1 billion in revenue in 2023 but I guess it’s dead…

No idea Jones even fought over the weekend til today and saw result. UFC marketing fighters is dead.

UFC 310 this weekend has more name recognition for me than probably any card in the last ten years or more. Look at this line up…

Guida, Hooper, Weidman, Anders and Chiesa are all on the early prelims
Battle, Sterling, Reyes, Luque and Smith are all on the prelims
Gracie, Mitchell, Gane, Volkov, Garry, Rakhmonov, Asakura and Pantoja are on the main card

I periodically check on @AhrnCityPahnder 's profile when I see this thread near the top. His last activity was yesterday, and it was just to "threaten" @mr. furley :D Gotta love it!
I just did an FFA vanity search, so checking in here 6 months later. I'm still alive, all is well.

I'm still holding out hope that Tim Sylvia has a redemption run left in him. As long as the UFC brass give him the opportunity, im highly confident he can have another stretch as the HW champ. Pretty good odds on that, for you gamblers - thank me later.

 How about updating that title? I thought we forever stuck with it but we have a window.

Slap it high?

Be back to update it in 2027.

UFC 311 tomorrow night.

For the main event, Arman Tsarukyan is OUT vs Islam Makhachev.

Renato Moicano will take his place.

Dariush was scheduled to fight Moicano, so not sure if he will still be on the card.

Main card starts at 10pm
