UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (7 Viewers)

You can't end a fight when a fighter is getting back up, you just can't. As part of getting up, a fighter is going to get hit, it is part of the sport.

Now if the ref wanted to admonish or even take a point from Teixeira for grabbing the fence to help himself back to his feet, that would have been fair.

That was the worst official call I've ever seen. By the time the ref called it he was standing upright ready to go. WTF? How is that a tko?
far from the worst, semi bad but Texiera used the cage to pull himself up. If he doesn’t grab the cage 3 times to pull himself up then he continues to take shots from Lewis and isn’t standing

I didn't watch last night but caught a few YouTubes this morning. I was surprised Max bounced back so strong after getting beat pretty bad less than a year ago. Besides the Rodriguez/Holland all pretty meh, no finishes...

Didn't watch the card, but caught the main event. Max looked great. Super crisp boxing, great angles, speed changes, accurate. It was a good fight, but Max was the better fighter throughout.

Bittersweet for Dustin. Glad he didn't throw down in the last 10 seconds. Max channels something otherworldly in those moments. Dustin caught him clean and Max just ate it and returned about 10 shots. Clinching and not staggering out of the arena ala Gaethje after your retirement fight was smart.

Main event was a wild fight. RDR has some lazy awkward looking striking but effective, those knees and his ground game are pretty awesome though. Whittaker looked good before he gassed out. Really close fight and I think I leaned Whittaker with the big knockdown. Good fight either way.

 craziest under eye ball damage i’ve seen in a bit
Missed it. Who?
do not click on this if you are eating

OMG. That's nasty.

Was out all day and didn't even know there was a card early. Turned the tv on just in time for the main event, but it sounds like this card is worth watching a replay.

Hmm, I first thought the UFC would be available on the $80 a year Paramount+ plan but from the article that was linked, it may only be available on the more expensive package ($13 a month).

parlay that I like for saturday's UFC card:

Battle/Hooper/Asakura/Chimaev +298

Chimaev looks massive next to DDP, it could have just been the angle that I saw but man did he look like a large human

That's interesting. When i saw DDP this week I thought he looked huge for middleweight. If you're talking the handshake that looked like an angle thing to me. Khamzat is 6'2" DDP is 6'1". DDP looks much thicker to me.

Gonna find out soon if any of that matters. Give me DDP by dropped piano on khamzat's head in the 5th. Seriously though, DDP by tko in the 5th. Khamzat just doesn't have the gas tank after covid ****ed him up.

Edit. I thought this was funny. I didn't really care for him at first, but he's grown on me.

$156 compared to $119 at ESPN+. Includes all the PPV and Paramount stuff. I may give it a go next year.

Check that. Paramount is only $119 too if you pay annually.
Too bad the only locals is CBS. No-brainer if they had all the locals.

I think after seeing the face off there's definitely no size advantage for khamzat. DDP probably has an edge even.

Wife is out of town so I had a chance to watch a few khamzat fights and DDP fights again last night and honestly if DDP is a dog that's madness. Khamzat did not beat Burns, no way. Khamzat also loses to Usman if that's a 5 rounder. Whittaker already had a busted face in that fight.

DDP has that awkward style, but he times it perfectly with that supmanish punch. Super explosive, fast and powerful. He's gonna overwhelm khamzat and grind him down. Moving my prediction up a round. DDP round four TKO.

it is a little confusing right now but some articles are saying you will be able to get all of the UFC programming (with ads) for as little as $60 a year which is a great price. I think this lower tier does not get you all the Showtime stuff though.

I am a big soccer fan so Paramount+ would also give me access to Champions League and Europa League games which I currently have to pirate like I do the UFC.

Once things solidify come December, I think I may pay for a full year to see how I like it.

DDP could not finish sean strickland, the first fight was won by split decision and there is a case to be made that it could have been a draw or even a strickland win.

I have one minor parlay with DDP on it but I wish I had loaded up my parlays with Chimaev when he was -180

Yeah, but Strickland has cardio. And really who's finished him? He's only been finished twice in his career and one was Pereira. Dude's pure defense and a jab.

Whatever happens i can't wait for this one. Really exciting fight that i hope lives up to the hype.

freaken Battle missed weight by 4 pounds and they cancelled the fight. Not a good look for the guy now that he's missed 2 weight cuts in a row

He missed weight last time, I think, in a weight class below this one, so this is a REALLY bad look to miss again at a higher weight class.

He also missed weight a few fights ago as well.

I first heard they were going to continue at a catch weight but I assume Ruziboev must have changed his mind. I was looking forward to this fight on the under card (which in a rarity these days, I know most of the fighters on the undercard).

Battle is commendable for previously losing over 100 pounds (story told on his TUF season). Hard to maintain weight.
Does need the company forced mandatory move to fight at a higher weight class.
Or move to ONE Championship so he doesn't have to cut weight since they keep their fighters near walking around weight.

i mean he just moved up a division and still missed by 4 pounds, but yeah i loved his whole story on the contender series and loved the rebrand to the butcher from pooh bear but this is a bad look

They may have already done this, but if not, he and his camp may want to reach out to people like Jared Cannonier and Khalil Roundtree as I believe they have both dropped over a 100 pounds as well.

Yeah i agree. I usually sail the high seas for my ufc, but I'll pony up if it's this easy and more reasonable
Doing away with the PPV model is fantastic.
This doesn't necessarily end the PPV's. Paramount can easily make them available on a PPV basis.

The below is what was stated in the press release but I will acknowledge that anything can certainly change going forward:

As part of the agreement, UFC and Paramount will move away from UFC’s existing Pay-Per-View model in favor of making these premium events available at no additional cost to the expansive U.S. subscriber base of Paramount+. This shift in distribution strategy will unlock greater accessibility and discoverability for sports fans and provide an important catalyst for driving engagement and further subscriber growth for Paramount+. Paramount intends to explore UFC rights outside the U.S. as they become available in the future.

And the below was posted by Dana himself confirming that all UFC content will be available with out a PPV model.

I'm glad the ppv model is going away. I'd have no problem dropping $70 for a fight if I wasn't the only one watching. It's not a model that works for all viewers. Can the bars stream Paramount for just the subscription price? I know they had to pay way more than $70, and I think it was determined by capacity.

Caio Borralho, Carlos Prates, Jean Silva, and Maurico Ruffy, are all on the Fighting Nerds team.

Their combined UFC record is 19 wins and 1 loss.
