I want to trust this MMMMMAAAAAAA and believe it will do good because I <3 GSP and believe his heart is in the right place, but there's little concrete information to go on so far and I don't see how they're going to accomplish all they're proposing.

yeah i am not sure getting rid of Hughes and Liddel really impacts the business side of the UFC. they were fun fighters, and the UFC wouldn't be where it is without them helping i their careers, but it was always a funny joke when guys would get jobs after they retired. nobody cared because they were taking care of guys who earned it, but they had zero chance of hanging around after the Fertitas sold the company.

Maynard came across as a tool imo.  He had top position multiple times and stood up.  He got outstruck handily I'd assume without seeing the numbers.  He didn't start kicking Hall from his feet when Hall was down until the 3rd round, and even then Hall started to land from his back.  Hall's standing kicks were impressive.  I do understand a little bit from Maynard's perspective that when it got a little hairy for Hall standing up he simply dropped to the mat not even going for a leg.  But you have to adapt.

Correct on all accounts.

Maynard played that way too conservatively and  played right into Hall's plan.

 
Fatass Cobb deserved it. It was scheduled to be a WELTERWEIGHT fight. Cobb weighed in at 220.....was told to get down to 205 morning of fight to make it a light heavyweight bout. Instead he still weighed 220. Loved the middle finger by Harris after Cobb was completely out of it. :lmao:  

Now the moron's (Cobb) on twitter saying everyone commenting isn't a fighter. :lmao:  If you miss weight by 50 pounds, you have no business being a fighter either.....

Cejudo fight: 30-26 card. Oof. Fight was close enough to not disagree with any result but definitely wasnt a 30-26 (deduction) fight.

Great night of fights tonight. Combine this and the current 206 card you'd have a nice PPV worthy card. Thinking 206 might be the lowest bought PPV in quite sometime.

FFS I'm tired just watching Elliott dance to the ring then in the ring :lmao:  Dancing is the last thing I'd be doing if I wanted to go 5 vs. Mighty Mouse.

Great effort by Elliott. He had Johnson in more trouble than anyone recently in the 1st. I'd rather see Elliot vs. Johnson than anyone else in the division right now. Johnson's just too good.

I was not as much referring to the Golden Shakes for Hughes and Chuck as I was to the wide and deep cuts in all corners of the organization.  I thought they had finished but it is clear they still have a ways to go.

I was just reading tv production might have some changes coming too as well as the owners intend to change a lot of things with the new tv deal to go away from the hype engine they have now, and we are likely to see many new faces in studio and calling fights, perhaps even giving full control of production and talent to the studios.

UFC on FOX has been non-traditional in how much control the UFC has. In every other sport, the networks pick the hosts and announcements and control production. It has been amazing.

With the UFC looking to significantly upgrade the contract size, things are going to have to change to give the broadcaster more say.  

The biggest piece of the puzzle is trying to figure out whether the PPV model will remain.  This is the biggest hinderance to a massive tv rights deal since most of the best fights can not be shown on tv.

I have read speculation that the ppv model might continue but that any new broadcast partner is going to likely want a share of the PPV revenue.

It also looks like the UFC is not going to look specfically for a single partner in this next contract.  If they can make more money splitting the rights between two or more broadcasters, they are going to strongly consider that.

It should be an interesting next 6-12 months.

Was just going to post the gate. Ouch. Wound up being really good night of fights. 

I'd bet the over, but really wouldnt be shocked if 206 did under 100k at this point. (I think Mighty Mouse headlined cards did/do ~125k) There's just zero reason to pony up money for that card. Not even a made up title .

For even a small venue they failed to sell out the arena. During Johnson's main even walkout, I noticed some great seats next to the tunnel that were empty.

They can tell us how DJ's the pound for pound king, how is 9 title defenses matches the total of all the other current champs, and how dominant he is, but the numbers prove that fans aren't that interested in him.

His biggest problem drawing wise, is that there is no one remotely interesting in his division. The majority of people couldn't name 2 other guys in the division. 

 
Has anyone heard 1 single good thing said about Bjorn Rebney?? The guy just literally reappears out of nowhere after 2 years and refuses/ignores to talk about his past. :lmao:  Every single MMA reporter that's spoken to him has nothing good to say about him and say he's completely full of #### when he does decide to "answer" a question.

Heard him on MMA Hour today. Even Ariel commented afterwards seems he has more of an personal axe to grind (bad mouthing UFC at every chance) than to help these fighters business wise. He's doing a ####### disservice to these fighters. These fighters are in for business reasons. Nothing but personal for this idiot. It's a real shame this bozo is even associated that really stands to benefit fighters. Needs to be a unified effort. Not Jeff Boris trying to start this. Not MMAAA trying to start something else.

I get all my unsubstantiated news from the twitterz, but I think the beard thing is accurate. Not 100% about the interim title status.

eta, yes, Holloway needs too win to get the belt, Pettis doesn't get it even if he wins.
