all mains are 5, though with the Al preparing for a 3 round fight they could make an exception here. would be hard for a guy who trains for 3 rounds to have to change opponents and fight an additional 2 rounds (which from what i hear is a bigger difference then just fighting 10 more minutes), so i can see it being something for this fight

Nurmagomedov - Iaquinta is going to be a 5 round fight. Now as for as the title. if Nurmagomedov wins he will be recognized as a Champion, if Iaquinta wins it's a little cloudier. Dana said he'd recognize Iaquinta as te champ but the NYSAC might not due to Al weighing in at 155.2

To cloud things further there's Connor & Ferguson, so who really knows. A Cluster**** all the way around

 
Pettis is probably better off suing McGregor for whatever he was going to get paid plus the cost of his camp.  Felder is the one who is really screwed here, but I'm sure some lawyer will be glad to connect his loss to Conners rampage as well.

Dana on the 155.2 - "if Iaquinta wins he is the champ, since I completely made the belts worthless.  I'm just not going to pay him like a champ"

Outside of the UFC itself, the person I think who might have the best chance to get a significant amount of money from Connor is Borg.  If there is even the slightest chance of a small amount of vision loss due to the glass he got in his eye, a jury could add that up to a large sum.

He’s probably not at McGregor level yet but what do you think about that Adam Borics guy that won last night with the flying knee? 7-0 and only 24.

I thought you were talking about a fighter who isn’t in the UFC “outside of the UFC” who had the best chance of getting a big money fight against McGregor. But the guy had something wrong with his eye. I was just reading about the Bellator card from last night and my mind wasn’t on the right track. My bad.

They train together and said they have zero interest in fighting each other.  

Pettis apparently wanted $1M to fight Khabib.  I'm assuming Al was significantly more affordable than that - less of a name, not a former champion etc.  Guessing Al's going to get $3-500K show for tonight.

I wrote that really poorly. When I said outside of the UFC itself, I was referring to the entity the UFC maybe suing Connor for significant money.

No that’s all on me. It’s pretty obvious what you’re talking about. But do check out that Adam Borics flying knee from last night. 

Not that I expect this to happen but McGregor should pay everyone that causes a problem for that day $10,000. Then the fighters their full show+win+a performance of the night bonus. And he should do that today so none of them actually have to worry about lawyers or their bills or anything. Then deal with the people he injured above and beyond that. 

He talks about being the “boss” of the UFC and about all his money so step up, apologize and take responsibility for your actions. Don’t make other people have to deal with the damage he caused. He wanted to “deal with Khabib” outside of the proper channels but watch how fast he will hide behind lawyers now. 

 
It's so silly that the only reason the NYSAC wouldn't acknowledge Iaquinta as champ with a win is that extra .2lb, even though he was well within weight for his original fight and wasn't given a chance to re-weigh upon negotiating the new fight. :lmao:

Is that worse than what they did to Felder though? They wouldn’t even let him fight.

Completely guessing here, but I bet that getting a title shot (one that he probably never sees otherwise? ) , not to mentioned in his hometown -- made him care a little less about quibbling over his show/win numbers.

This is about as close to a real life Rocky storyline as you can get for Iaquinta.

It is so silly.

Now Al just won’t get to defend his belt in the state of NY. So basically NY is the loser there, not Al or the UFC.

 
I think the UFC definitely files suit against McGregor, but they will likely use it as leverage in any future Connor negotiations.  They still realize he is their Cash cow, so they aren't going to putt themselves at odds.

I watched most of Iaquinta fights on Fight pass today.  The worst thing that could happen to him would be to get into a situation like he did at the end of rnd 1 vs Masvidal.  That's the closest we have seen to a mauling, but he survived.  I think k the key to victory is going to be footwork, and keep circling like he did vs Ross Pearson.  Al sometimes likes to keep his arms low, which could work ok vs Khabib to get his hooks in and prevent a takedown.  Khabib does like to duck his head down and throw that wild right hook.  Al is susceptible to getting hit by a right, so if he gets too comfortable with his hands low, Khabib could catch him off guard.  Iaquinta shouldn't throw any kicks.  Terrible idea vs Khabib.  Al has a really nice right uppercut.  That could be effective vs Khabib block head.

Kabib has such a fast entry on his punches.  He throws this lunging left hook that kind of looks like a punch that Fedor throws.  If Al has a thing where he keeps his hands low, he might ear one of those. 

 
So Dana White was asked point blank if CM will ever fight in the UFC again....he basically said lets wait until after this weekend and see where they are at...said its a very unique situation.

translation ...yes he will fight again ...time heals all wounds (and huge pay per view sales do as well )

Conor is not allowed to talk to any of the defendants, either directly or through somebody else. 

Lawyers are already all over this thing. 

Really ####ty of Conor and he will pay financially but I believe this will make him a bigger star than before. 

It really sucks he ruined a few fights tonight.

I generally tend to agree that there is no such thing as bad press.  However, Conner is already an Uber star on another level from anyone else in the ufc.  UFC didn't want to book him for this fight because they didn't have enough time to promote him.  Unless he is trying to turn heel, I don't see how this helps him at all.   If a 2nd tier guy would have pulled this it could have propelled his name into the news for a few days, but Conner was already being asked about at press conferences before the incident.  You can't get any higher than the ceiling imo.    These lawsuits are gonna sting.

He's been the heel since day one, so this helps him. It probably wasn't choreographed to go down as it did, but it's naive, given the nature of this business, to believe this wasn't promotional. When it happened I called it next level promotional ####. Some agreed with that. I'm more convinced now than then. Conor's response to the title strip, the enmity with Khabib, Tony getting injured, etc. The next opponent is Khabib. The insanity was about Conor wanting a piece of Khabib. This was the attention getting opening act to the Khabib/Conor tour. 

Be great if Iaquinta pulls the upset. 

 
Kowalkiewicz kooked good until she was rocked with a minute left. Herrig is tough as he11 but she fought that last minute all wrong.
