These are great facts.  What is the point?
he was the anti thesis of a fighting champion, and it went well beyond his time off for boxing.

To claim he always fought the best is wrong imo.   To have done that he needed to clean out his division like Mighty Mouse did as champion.

Conor starched Aldo and Alvarez when they were champs. ( I know you know this, just pointing it out). He's an amazing fighter but you can tell Fame and money is more important to him than his legacy as a pure fighter.   So I see both sides of it...I can't knock him as a fighter but he certainly did hold up 2 divisions for over a year when he was riding the fame/media wave.

Again put up his fights against anyone.  Just bs bro.

I don't knock him at all.  The choices he made are his own and they certainly benefited his wallet, which is the whole point of being in such a violent profession.

But I think you would agree that most unbiased viewers would believe that these choices hurt his legacy as an mma fighter.  There was a time he was on a track to be considered as one of the best of all time and now he might be one more loss away from that idea going poof.

He was on that track but even then there were lots saying that we haven't seen him against a smothering grappler.  Whether it happened 2.5 years ago or just when it did, Khabob was in his way on that path to be considered a GOAT. I think the result is the same then as it was a couple weeks ago as it is if we ever see a rematch.

But yes, I mostly agree with the bigger point you're making.

F$#k Conor. It was sweet watching him get dominated and making him say uncle. Zero humility and zero respect for his sport or opponent. That's what you get, mouth. Maybe next time he let's his skills do the talking...oh, wait, he doesn't have much outside of his left hand, which didn't make an appearance against Khabib.

not sure his fight with khabib was karma.  He made more money fighting Khabib than any MMA fighter has ever made.

He lost the fight but achieved his main goal...making money.

List the people conor fought then khabib.

  Never have (or will) consider Conor amongst the best fighters ever. He's far and away the best promoter ever.

Everyone knew if Khabib got his hands on him it was over. Conor's ground game is ####. Had Mendes not been on short notice, Conor doesn't win that fight either IMO. Agree 100% that a rematch ends in same result. Only thing I think Conor could do better is keep distance and picking his spots better. Thought he was too aggressive going into Khabib. He's usually a lot more calculated.

Because Sonnen is such a consummate word smith and a decent actor I never know who the real person is but listen to this interview after his fight.  Very genuine, humble and intelligent

If he had beaten Fedor, he would have turned it up to 11 and immediately zeroed in on Bader.   He shticks it up as good as anyone, but once he stops selling a fight, I really like the guy.  You almost only ever see that when he loses, though.

I expect Bader to dominate Fedor.  :(
I expect the same -- but I also thought Chaels wrestling would be much more effective than it was last night -- Fedor has such good balance and is really tricky with those trips and reversals.    If I were forced to choose now I'd agree with you .. but I'm not really confident.

Chuck Liddell is fighting Tito Ortiz next month? What year is this?

I had to do the math to see if they were going to set the record for oldest guys (combined age) -- but they're roughly a year short (combine age of 91) of when Coleman fought Couture in 2010.

Then I found some Canadian insanity where a 70 year had his first pro fight against a 49 year old.  Guessing that combined age of 119 years old is gonna stand for a while.  :lmao:

They each debuted at a double digit UFC (13 and 17). Aspen Ladd just fought at UFC 229 and was like 3 years old when Tito Ortiz debuted. I mean, I'm still going to pay for this but jeebus.

Sage Northcutt has had 13 pro fights / 8 fights in the UFC and fought out his contract (I didn't even realize he was a free agent until reading his wiki now) and he was 14 months old when Ortiz debuted.

I don't disagree with you. My statement was regarding the fights in the crowd and drunken frat boys wanting to be tough guys at events. If I had kids, I wouldn't hesitate to take them to a RAW or Smackdown taping (I went to both in my college days), but I wouldn't want to attend a UFC show as an adult.
Totally agree with you there. the MMA fans act like uncivilized animals.

Not sure if this was talked about but Khabib is threatening to quit UFC if Dana fires his cousin or anyone in his camp for the brawl after the fight. Dude this isn't Russia!!!!!

Khabib calls out Conor after winning a fight 2 years ago.

Khabib and his team attacked Conor's teammate Artem Lobov.

And Conor attacked the bus with you in it and he got arrested for it and his hearing was on TV

And you're going to threaten to quit if one of your teammates gets fired after you initiated that post fight brawl after winning pretty convincingly?

You started this.
Yeah Connor shouldn't have used the personal stuff but if someone can confirm or deny this I heard Khbib made some disparaging comments about McGregor's Grandfather that starter McGregor on his rant about Khbib's family and all. Look I'm not gonna defend Connor for the bus incident. He deserved a suspension.UFC and Dana also need to be held accountable and hopefully this whole thing shows Dana he needs to calm these things down before they get like this. However if a lot of this Khabib started then well I can't say I feel sorry when Connor attacked him the way he did. Can't take the heat get out of the kitchen.

you have to be joking.....

No matter whose side you are on in this insanity, no one in their right mind can be ok with Conor injuring other fighters on that bus who had absolutely nothing to do with this crap.

Who fought harder people?
McGregor.

McGregor's fought Nurmagomedov, who is way better than anyone Nurmagomedov has faced. SOS matters, but so does yr record, right?

Conor certainly has insane crossover potential, but he's not head-and-shoulders above his division. He's def. a couple levels below Khabib. That is eventually going to become an issue w/r/t his marketing potential.

Never said I was defending Conor's bus incident. Simple saying to put all this on Conor is unfair. Like the guy or not Khabib wanted to Fight Conor, then like a ##### confronts one of his guys with two others. I heard during that Khabib made mention of Conor's grandfather to Artem which Artem told Conor which set him off on the bus incident. Then Conor attacks Khabib's family with his words. Like I said not sure why Khabib is so upset when he unleashed most of this. After Khabib mentioned Conor's Grandfather all bets were off. When I meant by attack I mean going after Khabib and his family. Sorry but if Khabib made the initial call out then went after Artem with his Russian thugs and mentioned Conor's Grandfather I can't feel sorry for what Connor said about Khabib's family. Thats like the bully picking on someone and then finally gets popped and runs home to mommy and daddy and plays the victim card. Khabib isn't as innocent as people think.
