I truly think the kid will show up with coke or pcp in his system.  It was just unreal.  Hopefully he comes back clean and will get many more fights even just being a game opponent.   I'm a fan.  

 
I was happy to see Moutinho win the $75k bonus. 

Granted that is $1 for every head shot he took but at least it gives him something to live off of to train now.

 
Am I nuts or was this main event result significantly better for the UFC than Connor getting his ### whooped for a few more rounds?

It feels like they can play this off as an injury loss and milk one more big draw out of Connor before the clock strikes midnight.

I don't think so. For the 1 round this fight went McGregor looked horribly overmatched.  Most people know he was getting whooped and it was just a matter of time.  Don't get me wrong.  The UFC may TRY to milk it.  I just don't think it'll be any bigger than it would have been even if he'd gotten his butt whooped for a few more rounds.

Regarding a rematch, I know Dana guaranteed it and all but I've been trying to figure out how it happens.  The winner was guaranteed a title shot so if I'm Poirier I hold them to that.  If he wins the title McGregor shouldn't be given a fight against the champion just because Dana White wants that fight to happen.  A title fight is earned and McGregor showed last night he's not worthy of a title shot, especially against the guy who beat him handily two times in a row.  So McGregor has to fight the other contenders and win to get that fight, and I doubt he can do that.

If Poirier loses the title fight then maybe you can talk about another rematch but if I'm him I make the UFC pay him twice what McGregor makes on the fight out of principle and because he's the one taking a chance fighting a much lesser quality opponent. 

And, of course, McGregor is gonna be on the shelf quite a while recovering from surgery.  So, there are a lot of moving pieces for a rematch to occur.

 
The most money is Poirier McGregor 4.  McGregor wins as a massive underdog.  Fixers get their money too.  Then open the vault one last time before shutting the franchise down with PM V, where Poirier almost kills McGregor.

 
I am going with MGregor's next fight being a Paul brother.  They can all do the trash talking and build it up.  Connor went 10 rounds with Mayweather in an actual fight, Logan "thinks" he won his fake fight....   They can do the country wide tour and almost get into a fight each time, they all walk away with 50 million.  Poirier can go and fight for the belt, in a few years they do #4 to settle it.
