UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (6 Viewers)

Did she just speak like 3 languages in that interview?

She's a machine.
Thus far she's done post-fight interviews in: Russian (heritage), English (moved here), Spanish (lived with sister in Peru), and Thai (10 gold medals in kickboxing / Muay Thai).

Everyone who has recently beat Lawler pushed the pace, and had him defensively bobbing & weaving.  Unlike how he won last time, Nick let Robbie set the pace.  You have to get in Lawlers face so he doesn't do it to you.   Nick just isn't as good as a patient fighter not trying to get hit.  His overwhelming volume and pace is what he is known for.  He still did some technical things, and Robbie is still really good.  Imo one of these things happened to Nick,

A) the rumors of Nick getting ko'd in sparring, which caused the move to 185, was real.  You are more likely to get knocked out again if you were just recently.  He didn't go lights out, but that right hook may have made him see stars and fall down.  Smart decision for Nick to quit.

B) Nick is trying to get out of his contact.  Doesn't care much.  Needs the money, a screw you to UFC, didn't take it seriously, didn't want to fight Lawler.  When he knew he was going to lose, he quit.

C) Nate Diaz was wrong when he has been saying Nick Diaz is the best fighter in the world.  It's impossible to shake father time in sports, particularly fighting.  Ring rust is real.  Long layoffs matter.  Getting punched in the head in life has consequences later.

D) he didn't want to fight Lawler, so couldn't mentally be where he needed to be to.  He has always looked at his opponents like an enemy.  Maybe it's different when it's a guy he doesn't appear want to kill.

Something that is really bothering me is the excuse I have heard several times that "nick only had a 6 week camp".  And also that he didn't want to fight Lawler.  What happened to them being such phenomenal athletes that they are always ready?  He has been off for like 6 years, plenty of time to prepare.  And UFC has been wanting him back forever, so they basically allow him and Nate to pick their opponents to a certain extent.  They have to offer you like 3 fights a year.  We know he turned down Khazmat, who was the other one.  Who did he want to fight?  Based on how much Robbie worked the body, Masvidal would have kicked his guts in.  And Usman?  He has a fight, and even if he didn't at the time you don't get a title fight for your comeback.  Usman would have destroyed him.

Diaz said in the pre-fight presser, "if he loses he will want to get back in right away".  So maybe we see him again soon.  Hopefully, he has more time to prepare, makes agreed upon weight, and fights someone he wants to.

I became a huge Nick Diaz fan when he clipped Lawler in 04.

I stopped being a Nick Diaz fan when he quit vs Lawler in 21.

It's over.

Islam & Khazmat both huge favorites, do not disappoint. Both guys look like they could be legit contenders at their weight classes.  Who does Dana give the bonus to?
