Got the Kiss of Death by MFL:

Coach bonesman had an impressive showing in the recent 2010 FBG Survivor - Round 1 - League 9 draft. Their bonesman franchise came away feeling exuberant about their top grade in the league based on analysis by MyFantasyLeague.com.

bonesman has the honor of making the best pick of the entire draft, selecting Jamaal Charles in round 5 with the 56th pick of the draft, 33 spots after the 23rd spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He's a blue-chip prospect," bonesman coach bonesman said.

bonesman made their worst pick of the draft in round 12, selecting Legedu Naanee with the 137th pick of the draft, as compared to the 243rd spot he should have been selected in, according to ADP rankings. "He's a project," bonesman coach bonesman said.

bonesman nabbed Andre Johnson in the 1st round, which reflects the fact that he was the number one ranked wide receiver for the 2009 season, based on this league's custom scoring rules.

Time will tell if coach bonesman can take their top-ranked draft all the way to the league championship.

================================================================================

Got in this league at 1:30 this afternoon....so I went in cold with pretty much no strategy, except I was going to take a stud QB and a stud WR with the 12-13 picks..........and that fell out the window when Rodgers, P Manning and Brees went within the first 11 picks.....and this insn't a flex QB league.

QB - Cutler 5.12, Garrard 10.1, Leinart 18.1

QBs are OK. As long as Cutler doesn't throw as many picks as last year....with Martz in town, I see Cutler slinging it all over the field....was thrilled to get him at 5.12. Not a fan of Garrard and Leinart, but they should be OK as backups, I guess. No bye week issues here.

RB - S Jackson 1.12, Wells 4.1, M Bush 8.1, Sproles 9.12, B Jackson 22.1

Like my RBs as long as SJax stays upright for 5 games. I will cross my fingers......he's a beast when he plays. Really like Sproles in this format being a PPR league.....Sproles always has a chance of taking one the distance. No bye week issues here.

WR - R White 2.1, H Ward 6.1, Gaffney 7.12, D Thomas 11.12, Aromashodu 14.1, Morgan 15.12, Heyward-Bey 20.1, Stroughter 24.01

White is a stud, but I am not thrilled with this group. I need either Gaffney or Aromashodu to step up. Heyward-Bey is a pure gamble....maybe he can catch one long one for a TD. H Ward has a Week 5 bye and Strougher has a Week 4 bye.

TE - V Davis 3.12, Boss 12.1, Watson 21.12

Davis is a stud, happy to get him at the end of the 3rd, being a 1.5PPR for TEs.....big TE run ensued in rounds 4 and 5. Boss and Watson are adequate backups. No bye week issues.

K - Akers 17.12, Vinateri 19.12, Nedney 23.12

Should be fine here. 3 good kickers with no byes.

D - IND 13.12, AZ 16.1

Two middle of the road defenses....the D run started a few picks after my 11-12 swing, and they started flying off the board. At least they don't have byes.

Overall, my team is OK.

My goal going into this was to avoid week 5 Byes at all cost because 2 of the remaining 6 teams are cut that week. I ended up drafting a couple late but hopefully if I am fortunate to make it that far it will not hurt me too bad.

Player YTD Pts Bye

Leftwich, Byron PIT QB (P) - 5

Ryan, Matt ATL QB - 8

Stafford, Matthew DET QB - 7

Leftwich fell to me pretty late. I am ok with this group of Quarterbacks I can live with. Quarterbacks always go too quickly for my taste in 5 points per td leagues and this one

was no exception.

Gore, Frank SFO RB - 9

Harrison, Jerome CLE RB - 8

Jones, Thomas KCC RB (P) - 4

McFadden, Darren OAK RB (P) - 10

Spiller, C.J. BUF RB - 6

I am thin at rb but i like the ones I did get. I figure I am only going as far as Frank Gore will cary me anyway. I just missed on some mid to late rb's who would have helped.

Bess, Davone MIA WR - 5

Colston, Marques NOS WR - 10

Cribbs, Josh CLE WR - 8

Davis, Craig SDC WR (P) - 10

Holmes, Santonio NYJ WR (O) - 7

Manningham, Mario NYG WR (P) - 8

Sims-Walker, Mike JAC WR (Q) - 9

Smith, Steve CAR WR (P) - 6

Stallworth, Donte' BAL WR - 8

I drafted 3 wr's awfully quickly and in hindsight wish I hadn't drafted the 3rd one so soon. It put me behind the 8 ball at other positions.

I ended up taking some big play flyers late.

Shockey, Jeremy NOS TE - 10

Witten, Jason DAL TE - 4

I wanted Finely instead of Witten. That may cost me. I wanted to avoid week 4 byes as well. Shockey should be a decent baxkup if he can stay healthy.

Feely, Jay ARI PK - 6

Longwell, Ryan MIN PK - 4

Didn;t realize Longwell had a week 4 bye when I drafted him. Would have went elsewhere if I had.

Browns, Cleveland CLE Def - 8

Chargers, San Diego SDC Def - 10

Titans, Tennessee TEN Def - 9

I like my 3 defenses. SD has an easy schedule, Tennessee can hold teams to low scoringm which is rewarded in this point system, and Cleveland has Cribbs.

Overall I am ok with my team. Not in love with it though. I tried the fbg tool to rank it (which is meaningless really since tis is a 5 week season) but it didnt work.

I apologize for not making it guys. I got stuck on the train after work and by the time I got home you guys already had me replaced.

Good luck to all.

Bear in mind, 'Rate My Team' likely doesn't know this is a weeks 1-5 league.

Manning, Eli NYG QB (P) - 8

Sanchez, Mark NYJ QB - 7

Smith, Alex SFO QB - 9

I was surprised at how quickly QBs were coming off the board, even in a 6 pt/TD pass league, due to the PPR (1 for RB/WR, 1.5 for TE) scoring. I found it devalued QBs when analyzing VBD and most QBs went off earlier than I had them ranked. I considered Brady at 3.3, but chose to go with Ryan Grant instead. That may be the pick that makes or breaks my chances. Clearly, this is not a thrilling group, but I invested very little in the position and Manning/Smith have excellent complementary schedules. Sanchez was a late-round flyer hoping he might have a big week somewhere in there.

Buckhalter, Correll DEN RB (P) - 9

Grant, Ryan GBP RB (P) - 10

Rice, Ray BAL RB - 8

Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB (P) - 6

Clearly, this is the strength of this team. Taking Grant in the third was a risky maneuver, since it guarantees one of my top 3 picks (all RBs) will not score for me each week. However, the value was too big to pass up. I had Rice rated my #4 back, Williams #8, and Grant #9 in the first 5 weeks, so I essentially have 3 #1 backs. I expect to get big points from this position each week. If only there was a flex.... I spent very little on the position beyond round 3 as I didn't expect anyone taken late to score any points over my starters in a best-ball format. Buckhalter is a viable #3 by FBG rankings, and he was a very late round pick.

Berrian, Bernard MIN WR - 4

Burleson, Nate DET WR - 7

Doucet, Early ARI WR (P) - 6

Douglas, Harry ATL WR (P) - 8

Jackson, Vincent SDC WR (O) - 10

LaFell, Brandon CAR WR - 6

Mason, Derrick BAL WR - 8

Moss, Santana WAS WR - 9

Nicks, Hakeem NYG WR (P) - 8

Washington, Nate TEN WR (P) - 9

Drafting 10 receivers is nothing I've ever done before. However, not taking my first receiver until the 4th round, I hoped to make up for quality with quantity to some extent. My hopes are that Nicks, Moss, and Mason will do well in a PPR format and that one of the others might pick up the slack if they don't. Jackson was a late round accident, but my hopes are that he signs and gives me some play in weeks 4 & 5. Berrian might be a nice late round snag if Favre does play, and is the only player I have with a bye in this competition. LaFell and Douglas are two guys I really think could surprise.

Daniels, Owen HOU TE (Q) - 7

Olsen, Greg CHI TE - 8

I feel pretty good here. I think Daniels is underrated and Olsen has big upside. I got snaked a few times at this position, with guys i was targeting going 1-2 picks ahead of my slot, but I think I came out OK.

Janikowski, Sebastian OAK PK - 10

Kasay, John CAR PK - 6

Tynes, Lawrence NYG PK - 8

Janikowski was another accident pick, but whatevs. I like having 3 kickers since with the bonus for over 30 yard FGs, kickers can actually be a decent source of scoring. Best ball means someone of the 3 should have a solid week in there each time out, and with 24 roster spots, there was no harm in taking 3.

Bills, Buffalo BUF Def - 6

Eagles, Philadelphia PHI Def - 8

I had the Eagles as my #1 DEF for weeks 1-5, so I was glad to grab them as the second D off the board. Buffalo was a very late pick.

Right now, it appears week 1 might be my downfall. if I get through the two cuts in week 1, I like my chances to survive.

My strategy going into the draft was:

-Wait on QB's

-Draft no players with byes early on

-Get a Top TE in rounds 2 or 3.

Overall my team is OK and in contention, but not a powerhouse.

QB's are:

McNabb and Palmer

I am higher then most on Palmer so I am comfortable with this pair.

RB's

Turner/Barber/Ricky/Slaton/Weaver

Thin here and will need some good games from Ricky and Slaton

WR's

Wayne/Crabtree/Rice/Collie/Chambers/Ginn/Walters/Avant

This is strong group and should generate consistently good points

TE's

Clark/ Z Miller

I almost took Clark in the 2nd....at 1.5/catch Clark is MONEY. I wanted Clark or Gates and was thrilled to get Clark in the 3rd.

K's

Crosby and Hartley are both upper tier. Who cares though, they are kickers.

Def

Dallas/Washington/NYG/Seattle/Jax

Seems dumb on the surface to take 5 def's but with bestball sometimes you can strike gold with quantity.

I just wanted to say thanks to the group for not screwing me when my computer crashed for a round and a half.

I am going to take a look at the other rosters and share who I think the Top 4 teams are.

i feel overall i am 1 of the weaker teams.

never played this format before and i really wanted to try a draft with taking a qb in the first round and see what happened.

overall i probably would not do this again, but i am glad i tried it.

qb-

i gambled with only taking 2 and if rodgers were to go down i am done.

Henne, Chad MIA QB - 5

Rodgers, Aaron GBP QB - 10

rb-

i didnt take 1 until the 4th round and i really don't like the group too much but i think thomas could be ok and i think portis still will be decent and hope that forset does get the nod at starting.

Bradshaw, Ahmad NYG RB - 8

Faulk, Kevin NEP RB - 5

Forsett, Justin SEA RB - 5

Jones, Julius SEA RB - 5

Portis, Clinton WAS RB - 9

Thomas, Pierre NOS RB - 10

wr-

i had hoped that roddy or calvin would be there in the 2nd but both were gone and i gambled hoping fitz will be ok. think bolding will be ok and i took a bunch of #3 hoping for a big game from 1 of them each week.

Boldin, Anquan BAL WR - 8

Edelman, Julian NEP WR - 5

Evans, Lee BUF WR - 6

Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR (P) - 6

Henderson, Devery NOS WR - 10

Moore, Lance NOS WR - 10

Williams, Mike TBB WR - 4

te- there was a run on them early but i was happy to hold off and still get zach as i think he will be decent.

Miller, Zach OAK TE - 10

Scaife, Bo TEN TE - 9

Shiancoe, Visanthe MIN TE (P) - 4

k- well, who knows they are kickers.

Brown, Kris HOU PK - 7

Carpenter, Dan MIA PK - 5

Prater, Matt DEN PK - 9

d/st-

missed the boat bad with these on a run but hoping for the best.

Buccaneers, Tampa Bay TBB Def - 4

Dolphins, Miami MIA Def - 5

Raiders, Oakland OAK Def

like i said i feel there is a good chance i am gone quick here but stranger things have happened.

Bear in mind, 'Rate My Team' likely doesn't know this is a weeks 1-5 league.
Yep, of course... In fact I think I finally remarked when I got Charles that guys w/ a week 4/5 BYE were especially discounted. It just goes off of ADP it seems.I knew the survivor leagues were elimination style, but I didn't realize the first 5 weeks thing going in. It got discussed pretty early on though so I knew the deal... but hadn't really prepared for it.QB:3. Brady, Tom-511.Cassel, Matt-4 18. Freeman, Josh-4I like what I've got going on here. Had I known Rivers would be around for my pick in the 4th, I might've taken Beanie or Pierre Thomas... but I was eying the 2 backs I ended up with right here too. All have byes but Cassel @ Indy and Freeman @ Cincy, should give me a chance at some pts if I make it to week 5. I really wanted Matt Stafford to pair w/ Brady (faces Stl week 5) but he got taken 2 picks before me in the 9th (prob would've passed on him there and took him in 10th if he was there)4. Addai, Joseph5. Charles, Jamaal-47. Jacobs, Brandon8. Jones, Felix DAL-410.Taylor, Chester13.Jackson, Fred I like my RBs. I wanted Spiller instead of Jacobs in the 7th though. Charles in the 5th is pretty awesome, especially since I was considering him in the 4th but wanted to play it safe w/ Addai. I need someone to step up in week 4, but they all have pretty tough matchups (aside from Addai @ Jax). In hindsight I prob should've taken M. Bush over Jacobs in the 7th1. Johnson, Andre 2. Moss, Randy-59. Edwards, Braylon12.Naanee, Legedu 16. Nelson, Jordy 17. Williams, Roy-420. Robiskie, Brian 22. Bennett, EarlSO stoked to A. Johnson at 8th overall. Was surprised to get Moss in the 2nd as well. After those guys it's pretty thin but Braylon and Legedu should get some extra targets over the first few weeks w/ key WRs on their team missing time to holdout/suspension.6. Gonzalez, Tony 19. Cook, Jared 24. Nelson, ShawnPretty stoked to land Gonzalez as the 9th over all TE after the run... he's got 5 weeks left in the tank!21. Reed, Jeff-523. Hanson, Jason14. Vikings, Minnesota-415. Steelers, Pittsburgh-513 & 15th defenses taken off the board... obviously they fell because of the bye weeks. Their SOS isn't that great either, but c'mon, those are two great defense w/ tons of pt potential. Overall I'm pretty happy with my draft. I do think I should've invested in an extra K/DST instead of going w/ a TE3 and a WR8... over only a 5 week period those guys won't make much of an impact, if at all. It was my first survivor draft and I didn't put 2 and 2 together on that one until after the fact.

Really went into this thinking to take BPA and try to avoid too many early bye weeks.

QB

Kolb, Vick, Orton

I like Kolb, but feel he is a higher risk so I got Vick later just in case. I am thinking that Orton may have a few 40+ attempt weeks trying to keep up on the scoreboard. Overall, I think I have 2 QB that are on teams that like to throw the ball.

RB

ADP, LeSean McCoy, Reggie Bush, Brian Westbrook, Mike Bell, Kevin Smith

I like my core and hope there is chance that Bell or Smith may sneak in a week that they get a couple of goal line TD's

WR

Brandon Marshall, DeSean Jackson, Donald Driver, Mike Wallace, Mike Thomas, Mike Williams (SEA), Laurent Robinson, Ramses Barden

I feel like Marshall and Jackson should be solid starters each week and hopefully can get a solid week out of one of the others each week.

TE

Heath Miller, Dustin Keller, Fred Davis

I missed the TE runs so felt the need to get a third TE. Hopefully think I have a solid group of 2nd and 3rd tier guys that I can count on one of them to at least give me a decent score each week

K

Bironas and Shayne Graham

Solid kickers that will play on teams that can move the ball some and with coaches that aren't big 4th down guys and are willing to take FG's and rely on good defenses.

DEF

Packers and Pats

Two solid defenses that typically create turnovers and with their high scoring offenses can turn teams in to one dimensional teams, creating turnonvers.

Overall, I feel I will have a consistent team that may not put up huge numbers but should avoid the low, low weeks that will kill you quickly.

Strong teams imo:BonesmanBarkerPostradamusEG
I hope you're right. I think instead of grabbing Jacobs I should've taken a WR3 of Harvin/TO/Wallace.Anyway, budman has a pretty good team too... he got me at least twice on snagging guys I had queued w/ only a pick between us.I paid the favor forward to steelerfan1 though :lmao:

Talentwise, Bonesman has a great team.....his issues are the dreaded bye weeks. Brady, PIT D will be going alone in week 4, as well as he has Charles and F Jones out week 4. And if he survives that, Bonesman doesn't have Brady or Moss or the PIT D.....MIN D will be going alone.Dave Baker has the same issue. Has Bowe, Winslow, Cadillac, and D Ward out Week 4 and Mendenhall, Welker, R Bown and Hasselbeck out Week 5.IMO, Postradamus has the best team. I like EvilGrin72 as well.

I came into this draft blindfolded and shooting from the hip.

Had a lot of fun! Sorry I was not more prepared.

Thanks and good luck to all!

One thing I found interesting. The 2 top teams according to the DD are fightingillini and Tickle Monster, 2 teams nobody has said anything about being strong.

Having said all that even if the DD predictions end up being accurate, the numbers in most cases are so close it makes the whole thing a toss up. Have fun guys.

I am a little surprised. I thought that my team would be the middle of the pack. The two teams that I like are the ones that get eliminated in Week 1. Go figure.Which means that we have no clue as to what is going to happen.

Looks like DD got it half right.

Eliminated week one looks to be Postradamus and da budman.

Good luck to you guys moving on. I knew it was tight going into Monday Night Football there were really 3 of us vying for just 1 spot left. With the NYJ/Baltimore game being a low scoring one I still had hope but with that early Jamal Charles td run and the KC defense selling out to try to stop Gates, Nannee got loose for a long TD I was toast. Good luck week 2 Gentlemen.

2 teams go home next week.

Rd 1 - Ray Rice - BUST (thus far, which is all that matters to me)Rd 2 - DeAngelo Williams - BUSTRd 3 - Ryan Grant - OUT FOR SEASONThat equals early exit. Well, there's always next year.

Well Steelerfan1, you might have thought you could go home, but you ended up the 2nd highest scoring team.

We lost John Norton and FightingIllini this week. We are down to 7 teams and one of us won't make it to next week.

After being the high scorer the last 2 weeks, I am worried about this first bye week. With ADP on a bye then I need another huge week from LeSean McCoy since my only other RB this week are Mike Bell, Kevin Smith and Brian Westbrook. Luckily, I don't have any other players on bye this week.

I lost thanks to Cutler sucking and Hester's return TD....thanks Devin.

BTW, I was thrilled that CHI won the game

Oh well....my team wasn't that good.....I had Wells and M Bush and SJackson nicked up, had Leinart, Devin Thomas and Aromashodu who lost their starting jobs.....SF imploded, which killed V Davis' value......and I had nobody that put up huge numbers which helps you advance. It would have been a miracle for me to survive the next two weeks.

Best of luck to the remaining 7.

Luckily, I don't have any other players on bye this week.
yeah bro1ncos,i am proof that luck beats talent.no way i should still be here, but i will keep hoping for the best.

I'm amazed my team is alive here too. Yikes!... probably the worst draft for me this summer. Jacobs?! Ugh! I was regretting that one before the season even started.

Hopefully I can even make it to next week where I'd be without Brady/Moss.

i know i've been saying this every week but this is the week i go.

down to 1 starting rb and think my luck is gone.

Looks like we have a race to see who will be eliminated this week.

Moving on (looks to be before the Sunday night game):

Old Milwaukee 183.75 with 3 players still to go

steelerfan1 140.45 with Shiancoe still to go

Battling for the final 2 spots:

bonesman 122.00 with Minny D and Braylon still to play

Bankerguy 94.75 with Avant, Crabtree, and Ted Ginn the last players of significance

Dave Baker 88.50 with Favre, Gerhart, and Cotchery still to go

bro1ncos 76.50 with Westbrook, Kolb, Mike Bell, McCoy, ADP, DeSean and Dustin Keller still to go

Of course the players still to play need to score more then players that already played.

I debated posting because of that, but I figured you weren't getting leap frogged by 3 of the teams below you.

just messin bron1cos  there should have been no way i am even here with all of the good teams drafted ahead of mine, but i will take it.

After looking at this again....i don't think I will make it. Crabtree needs to get me another 20 points in the second half for me to feel OK

It doesn't help me that it looks like DeSean may sit out the remainder of the game.

I have confidence in ADP and Keller tomorrow night, but you never know.

Whew!!! That was as interested as I have been in a Monday night in the terms of fantasy football in a long time.

I went from begging for one more catch for ADP or Keller to the point that I was worried that Favre would throw another TD pass and Dave Baker would get past me.

Congrats to all. My Indy connection of Clark, Wayne and Collie killed me in week 5. It happens. GL to those advancing.

WOW... bankerguy eliminated by less than half a point!!!!.... pretty awesome!

It's nice to know I would've advanced even w/ out getting that extra week from Moss.

Any idea when the draft for the next leg will take place, approximately?

Yea, I am still sweating to see if there is any scoring changes that affect things on Thursday. There is another thread about round two that Clayton started earlier today. Looks like the drafts will be either Thurs, Fri or Sat.

Ah, cool... thanks!

GL dodging any scoring changes... the only possible one I've heard of is a sack potentially being taken away from the Jets D... so you should be okay. That would be a heartbreaker though!

Nah the win is yours.....the .5 points does hurt a little. I made to the finals last year so it's cool. I hope someone from this league wins it all.
