Ultimate Survivor - Leg 1 - League 8 (1 Viewer)

Only 3 people left to acknowledge the change back to 9pm will still work for them (Marc Faletti, Bruce Henderson, and Green and Gold). Hopefully we hear from them soon. Then we can get Clayton Gray to revert the time back to 9pm.

I've already put in for a vacation day on Tuesday. Hopefully I draft well enough in the early rounds, because I'll be hammered by the middle rounds. Gonna have to be very flexible during the draft, because it's certainly not going to be normal.

If we already have a league with MFL, do we still need to get a password from Clayton? Or will our existing account be sufficient? I've already been able to predraft, so I assume everything is good to go. But if not, let me know if I need to send something to Clayton ... I'd hate to be locked out come Monday night.

If you've already been able to log on, you are good to go. What I don't understand is how you were able to take ownership of your team without the password. That doesn't make sense. I am also in multiple MFL leagues, but each league is independent of the other, even though you can switch from league to league. Perhaps you were blitzed when you logged on for the first time and forgot that you used the password that was sent to you? :lmao: My suggestion would be to change your password, then log off and back on again. That would ensure the team is under your control, but as I said, I doubt it's necessary. See you at the draft in a few days...

Question for the MFL-users.

I've used before, so I more or less know what I'm doing, but this will be my first year with multiple leegs on that site. If I used different email addresses when I signed up, can I still link them into a global login?

I also have multiple MFL leagues. When I log in to any one of them, my others show up under the "My Leagues" menu, but I use the same e-mail for all. I will test it out by changing one of my e-mail addresses, and let you know.P.S. I wanna poke your avatar in the eye!

I just tested it out. I have 3 MFL leagues. I changed e-mail addresses on one of them, then logged out of all 3. I then logged into one that I hadn't changed to e-mail to. When I went to "My Leagues", the other 2 leagues were not there. But when I went to both of the other homepages as a guest, the league I had logged into showed up. I guess that means all your leagues will be linked as long as you don't log out of them, regardless of what e-mail address you use. Hope that helps...

We draft tomorrow night, but are still waiting on confirmation from Marc Faletti and Green and Gold about reverting back to 9pm. I have sent them both PM's and e-mails in hopes of a response. I doubt it will be a problem for them, but I just don't want them logging onto the site 2 hours in advance. I have also PM'ed Clayton Gray and asked him to change our start time back to 9pm on the site.

Sorry if I seem to be acting like a commish for the league. I know I am only one of 12 owners. I just felt I'd be doing Clayton Gray a favor by taking care of all this stuff. He has 12 leagues to worry about, and his draft for Survivor League 7 starts tonight. I'm sure he has his hands full. Plus, since I have the first draft spot, I only have to take Tomlinson, then wait to see what falls to me at 2.12. I wonder how the bye weeks will affect the draft...

Green and Gold, where are you?

Quick question: What is the 'survivor' part of all this?
We only play for 5 weeks. For those weeks, the lowest scoring team(s) get booted out...Week 1 - 2 of 12 get bootedWeek 2 - 1 of 10 gets bootedWeek 3 - 2 of 9 get bootedWeek 4 - 1 of 7 gets bootedWeek 5 - 2 of 6 get bootedAfter Week 5, the remaining 4 teams will advance to leg 2 of the Survivor League, and compete with the top 4 from the other 11 leagues.

See you all tomorrow night. I'm so psyched to get this thing going!

I am sorry that I wasn't able to make it on time and that I held up the draft. I should not have said that I would be able to make it at 9 for sure. The meeting that I had is usually only and hour to and hour and a half tops. This obviously wasn't a normal meeting and it lasted over 2 hours. Once again I apologize for delaying you. Good luck to all in the draft.

Don't sweat the delay, we were up and running quickly enough and still were only 13 seconds shy of being the fastest draft so far. Sorry you missed it, though.

The Faletti roster:

QBs: Cutler, Hasselbeck

RBs: Barber, Turner, J.Lewis, A.Bradshaw, L.Washington

WRs: Fitzgerald, Jennings, B.Johnson & I.Bruce, Ginn, Randle El, L.Robinson, Jacoby Jones, DeSean Jackson

TEs: Crumpler, Z.Miller

Ks: Kasay, K.Brown

Ds: Jags, Ravens

A little thin at receiver, no doubt. That's my biggest concern. But I'm likely to have a good QB and RB score every week, and Fitz+Jennings is a very solid top-end at wideout. Lots of really good teams were drafted; should be a a fun league to watch play out. As always, injuries will be a huge factor, I'm afraid...

Best of luck all!

I didn't realize I took 7 RBs. Probably should have nabbed an 8th WR before my 7th RB, but oh well. Only have one important guy (Roy Williams) with a bye week in our window for this draft.

Team Awesome (aka SSoG):

QB- Tony Romo, David Garrard

RB- Maurice Jones-Drew, Selvin Young, Jerious Norwood, Michael Pittman, Ryan Torain, Andre Hall

WR- Anquan Boldin, Wes Welker, Bobby Engram, Reggie Williams, Demetrius Williams, Mark Clayton, Arnaz Battle, Keary Colbert

TE- Antonio Gates, Tony Scheffler

PK- Nate Kaeding, Phil Dawson

Def- Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins

My thoughts on...

...my QBs: I firmly believe that I got the best QB in the league. Brady and Manning both have week 4 byes, and I would gladly take 5 weeks of Romo over 4 weeks of either. As far as Garrard goes... in 14 games last year, only twice did he fail to crack 15 points. He also had 8 20+ point games, including 7 of his last 8 (and a 19.8 point game the week before that streak started). Garrard = mind-numbing consistency, and a hell of a lot more production than you'd expect. Basically, the perfect Best Ball Backup, imo.

...my RBs: I'm a Jones-Drew fan. It's no secret. You'd think he'd be even more valuable in Best Ball where you don't have to start him on his bad games, but I'm actually counting on him as an every-week starter here. You see, I only have two other RBs- Jerious Norwood (the backup), and "Denver RB". Clayton informs me I'm the first person to grab the entire Denver quartet, which surprises me, since all it cost was a 5th, 16th, 18th, and 20th, and I feel it pretty much guarantees me 2nd round production. RBs aren't a huge strength, but I really don't think they'll be a liability, and I think there's a TON of upside here.

...my WRs: I'm very happy with my depth. I feel a lot of people spent their last 5 rounds throwing darts and grabbing every rookie WR in the league, but I grabbed my quality depth earlier than most and therefore didn't have to worry about it. Lots of consistent performers in Boldin, Welker, and Engram, and some upside guys in Reggie Williams, Clayton/Demetrius (who is really one player in two), Battle, and Colbert (who I believe Shanahan *wants* to become Denver's WR1 if Marshall gets suspended). No super-studs, but Boldin is studly enough, and I've got enough consistency to survive and advance.

...my TEs: Gates is a superstud. His foot is a concern, so I backed him up with a garden-variety stud... with another foot injury. As long as one of them is healthy, I'm made in the shade with lemonade.

...my PKs: Kaeding and Dawson are both reliable vets on high-scoring offenses. Sounds like the recipe for a pair of top-10 kickers to me.

...my Defenses: Alright, I admit, I was just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. But with my QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, and PKs, I should be fine. :moneybag:

Edit: By the way, I only have two players on my team with a bye in weeks 1-5. Wes Welker and Bobby Engram. Of course, I also have three Jags (Garrard, Jones-Drew, and Reggie Williams) and 6 Broncos (4x RBs, Colbert, Scheffler), so hopefully those offenses are as good as I expect them to be.

My team from the #1 spot:

QB[ - start 1/b]

Young, Vince TEN QB 6 (8.12) - QB's flew, so I decided to go heavy and late.

Bulger, Marc STL QB 5 (9.1) - One has to stick, right?

Jackson, Tarvaris MIN QB 8 (12.12) - I only need one to score, please?

Garcia, Jeff TBB QB 10 (13.1) - Brett Favre, do not come to TB, I beg you...

RB - start 2

Tomlinson, Ladainian SDC RB 9 (1.1) - He anchors my RB's, and faces a nice schedule in 1 thru 5. He allows me to go shy on RB's.

Parker, Willie PIT RB 6 (4.12) - I'm not ready to stick a fork in FWP just yet. Got him at his ADP, even without a bye.

Smith, Kevin DET RB ® 4 (5.1) - Yup, he's got a bye in 4, but i got a feeling about him.

McFadden, Darren OAK RB ® 5 - (6.12) - Still there at 6.12? He's mine. Run like thie wind, DMac!

WR - start 3

Colston, Marques NOS WR 9 (2.12) - The best WR left without a bye in weeks 1-5.

Johnson, Chad CIN WR 8 (3.1) - Another no-brainer without a bye. I know he's inconsistent, but he hasn't failed me yet.

Gonzalez, Anthony IND WR 4 (10.12) - He's been going earlier in drafts. His output is tied to Marvin's health. Crosses fingers.

Thomas, Devin WAS WR ® 10 (16.12) - Not a fan of Randle El as the WAS FF WR2.

Kelly, Malcolm WAS WR ® 10 (17.1) - See above; doubled up.

Sweed, Limas PIT WR ® 6 (18.12) - Psyched to get him here. Big target in the end zone for Big Ben.

Clayton, Michael TBB WR 10 (20.12) - 3rd season WR bearkout a year later? Worth a risk in the 20th.

Doucet, Early ARI WR ® 7 (20.12) - Last pick of the draft; total flyer.

TE[ - start 1/b]

Gonzalez, Tony KCC TE 6 (4.12) - Jumped a bit, but wanted him. With the foot of Gates and the bye of Winslow I thought he was good value.

Davis, Vernon SFO TE 9 (11.1) - Couldn't pass on VD here. He's my TE2 without a bye in a Martz offense.

K - start 1

Stover, Matt BAL PK 10 (19.1) - Old man river, good for another year.

Mehlhaff, Taylor NOS PK ® 9 (21.1) - People are afraid of rookie K's, but I am not.

D - start 1

Bears, Chicago CHI Def 8 (14.12) - Fell because of tough schedule; I don't mind.

Cowboys, Dallas DAL Def 10 (15.1) - Same as above; I grabbed 2 top D's after 10 had already been taken.

I finished this draft 3 sheets to the wind, but overall, I like what i ended up with. I only have 4 players with a bye, which is a plus.

The Faletti roster:QBs: Cutler, HasselbeckRBs: Barber, Turner, J.Lewis, A.Bradshaw, L.WashingtonWRs: Fitzgerald, Jennings, B.Johnson & I.Bruce, Ginn, Randle El, L.Robinson, Jacoby Jones, DeSean JacksonTEs: Crumpler, Z.MillerKs: Kasay, K.BrownDs: Jags, RavensA little thin at receiver, no doubt. That's my biggest concern. But I'm likely to have a good QB and RB score every week, and Fitz+Jennings is a very solid top-end at wideout. Lots of really good teams were drafted; should be a a fun league to watch play out. As always, injuries will be a huge factor, I'm afraid...Best of luck all!
Solid team here. The 49er WR tandem should give you a solid #3 WR in most weeks.

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB Leinart, Matt ARI QB Gore, Frank SFO RB James, Edgerrin ARI RB Green, Ahman HOU RB Brown, Chris HOU RB Morris, Maurice SEA RB Bell, Tatum DET RB Watson, Kenny CIN RB Owens, Terrell DAL WR Williams, Roy DET WR Berrian, Bernard MIN WR Bennett, Drew STL WR Hilliard, Ike TBB WR Nelson, Jordy GBP WR ® Stokley, Brandon DEN WR Cooley, Chris WAS TE Pope, Leonard ARI TE Akers, David PHI PK Gould, Robbie CHI PK Giants, New York NYG Def Packers, Green Bay GBP Def I didn't realize I took 7 RBs. Another solid looking team. I'd be somewhat concerned about Leinart being my only backup QB and WR depth is a concern.

Interesting strategy taking 4 Denver RBs. It might be a decent strategy. I'm not big on Norwood in non-PPR. Your comment about MJD being good in this format because of not having to start every week is a good point, but not having much behind him takes that benefit away. You almost have to have him in most weeks, especially week 4 (see below).I think your problem could be WRs in week 4 since you lose Welker and Engram. Should Boldin not put up big numbers that week, you could be in trouble. If your Denver RB strategy can net you a #2 RB, you have a chance, assuming you make it through week 4. That is no given.

I was so drunk, I ended up with both Willie Parker and Tony Gonzalez at pick 4.12? I'm amazed I even typed this after the draft. BTW - I got Gonzo at 4.12, FWP at 5.1, and Kevin Smith at 7.1. Good job, you moron. You ended up with as many QB's as RB's. And what's with half my WR's being rookies?

Your QBs should be decent. LT plus the other 3 make for a solid RB group. Gonzo is solid. WR is the problem with your team. I love Chad and Colston, but after that, I don't like much. Gonzalez as your #3 WR could hurt you if Harrison plays. All you have behind the top 3 are 4 rookie WRs and Michael Clayton. One or more of those have to produce some weeks, either week 4 when Gonzalez has a bye, or in a week where Chad or Colston put up pedestrian numbers.

I like the top end of your team a lot, but I think you erred taking that many rookie WRs. Not necessarily that they can't contribute, but counting on rookie WRs early in the year is very risky.

And what's with half my WR's being rookies?
;)

Here is how my team shook out. Starters in bold:

Anderson, Derek CLE QB - 5 7.04

Edwards, Trent BUF QB - 6 16.09

Manning, Peyton IND QB - 4 3.04

Quinn, Brady CLE QB - 5 18.09

- Love my QBs. People all wanted to shy away from Manning because of his week 4 bye and IMO I got great value taking him in the 3rd. I had no reservations at all taking Manning knowing that I could target Anderson later and he has the ideal week 4 match up against the Bengals. I think QB will be the strength of my team.

Bush, Reggie NOS RB - 9 2.09

Jackson, Steven STL RB - 5 1.04

Jones, Julius SEA RB - 4 10.09

Maroney, Laurence NEP RB - 4 6.09

Pittman, Antonio STL RB - 5 22.09

*Will likely platoon Bush/Maroney

- Having used an early pick on Jackson (who has a week 5 bye) I felt it was highly important to get a RB in the 2nd as well. Bush was the best value on the board and IMO is underrated this year. Having Maroney fall to me in the 6th was a very pleasant surprise. He is a starting RB on a high powered offense and his week 5 match up @ SF (coming off a bye) was exactly what I was looking for given Jackson's week 5 bye. Jones was simply a BPA pick. As the last starting RB on the board I figured round 10 was a good time to take him. Again, I'm sure he only lasted so long due to his week 4 bye. With Jackson and Bush already rostered, I wasn't too concerned with that.

Chambers, Chris SDC WR - 9 5.04

Gaffney, Jabar NEP WR - 4 19.04

Hardy, James BUF WR ® - 6 12.09

Marshall, Brandon DEN WR - 8 4.09

McCareins, Justin TEN WR - 6 20.09

Meachem, Robert NOS WR - 9 14.09

Stallworth, Donte' CLE WR - 5 9.04

- WR is certainly the weakest part of my team. I decided to roll the dice with Marshall at the end of round 4. I'm sure he fell thanks to the possible suspension he could face. I don't think he will miss any more than a game if he misses any time at all however, so I pulled the trigger. Chambers will provide solid WR2 numbers this year IMO so I'm happy about landing him. Stallworth could be hit or miss. Week 5 bye doesn't help, but there is opportunity for him in Clev. I was happy to land the top rookie WR in redraft with Hardy.

Boss, Kevin NYG TE - 4 15.04

Keller, Dustin NYJ TE ® - 5 17.04

Olsen, Greg CHI TE - 8 13.04

- TEs seemed to fly off the board so I felt content to wait on them. Nothing spectacular here, but I think sufficient enough to not loose games.

Bryant, Matt TBB PK - 10 21.04

Folk, Nick DAL PK - 10 11.04

- Probably took Folk too early, but I didn't see anyone else on the board that jumped out at me so I just went ahead and took my #1 K.

Chargers, San Diego SDC Def - 9 8.09

- I thought this was hands down the best D available given the format. They have a cake walk schedule for the 1st 5 weeks.

Overall I'm pleased with the team. I think I'm strongest at QB and RB and IMO that is never a bad thing. I should have quality spot players for the bye week conflicts and hopefully that is enough to keep me alive!

Team Henderson 9-spot (Drafted by Gray from the second round on, due to an urgent family emergency, ambulance, hospital until 4:30 am, etc.)

QB: Carson Palmer, Philp Rivers

RB: Marshawn Lynch, Willis McGahee, Rashard Mendenhall, Chris Johnson, LaMont Jordan

WR: Plaxico Burress, Joey Galloway, Donald Driver, Nate Burleson, Patrick Clayton, Donnie Avery, Troy Williamson, Eddie Royal

TE: L.J. Smith, Desmond Clark

PK: Neil Rackers, Jeff Reed

DEF: Seattle, Denver, Arizona

I like this team in a 5 week series.

I think these four teams have the best chance of advancing to Leg 2:

Dirty Weasel

Seymour Corn

Team Henderson

Evil Empire

If Green and Gold can survive week 1, then he has a very good shot at cracking the top 4.

SSOG has an outside chance if he can survive week 4.

I know, I just jinxed myself...

So, who of us didn't shy away from guys with bye weeks:

jurb26 - He tops my list, with 2 of his first 3 picks, 6 of his first 10, and 11 total. He's got cajones, that's for sure.

nittanylion - The only guys to take more are above him, but he went with byes for his first 3 picks. Week 4 will be rough. We have to cut Lion some slack though, because he filled in for an absent drafter at the last minute.

Addai, Joseph IND RB - 4 1.07

Moss, Randy NEP WR - 4 2.06

Holt, Torry STL WR - 5 3.07

Vinatieri, Adam IND PK - 4 15.07

Jets, New York NYJ Def - 5 20.06

Rhodes, Dominic IND RB - 4 22.06

evilempire - Three of his top 5, and six overall. You may be  if Braylon doesn't have a good week 4.

Wayne, Reggie IND WR - 4 2.07

Edwards, Braylon CLE WR - 5 3.06

Brown, Ronnie MIA RB - 4 5.06

Jackson, Chad NEP WR - 4 15.06

Pennington, Chad NYJ QB - 5 19.06

Hanson, Jason DET PK - 4 20.07

Seymour Corn - Ballsiest pick of the draft at 1.03. Hurt at other positions when you took another QB in the 4th. Ryan Grant needs to have a monster start to keep you alive, but I like that you cuffed him with Brandon Jackson.

Brady, Tom NEP QB - 4 1.03

Winslow, Kellen CLE TE - 5 6.10

Johnson, Calvin DET WR - 4 4.11

Harrison, Marvin IND WR - 4 7.02

Kitna, Jon DET QB - 4 9.02

Smith, Steve NYG WR - 4 13.02

Raiders, Oakland OAK Def - 5 18.11

Dirty Weasel - With the exception of my 8.12 pick, I drafted all byes in rounds 6 thru 10, and two are rookie RB's.

McFadden, Darren OAK RB ® - 5 6.12

Smith, Kevin DET RB ® - 4 7.01

Bulger, Marc STL QB - 5 9.01

Gonzalez, Anthony IND WR - 4 10.12

Firesalt - If Favre doesn't start somewhere, he will have to take what Brodie Croyle gives him in week 4. Dunno that I like the Pats D as the 4th D taken, but you have the Eagles D against the Bears in week 4, so not bad.

Manning, Eli NYG QB - 4 6.01

Cotchery, Jerricho NYJ WR - 5 8.01

Watson, Ben NEP TE - 4 14.01

Marc Faletti - Hats off to Marc for snagging Jamal at 6.05. Here is where he went in the other survivor drafts so far - 3.05, 2.09, 4.06, 3.06, 3.08, and 3.09. Marc still has MB3 and Turner, so no harm taking him, even with a bye and a brutal schedule.

Lewis, Jamal CLE RB - 5 6.05

Hasselbeck, Matt SEA QB - 4 7.08

Miller, Zach OAK TE - 5 11.08

Ginn Jr., Ted MIA WR - 4 12.05

Washington, Leon NYJ RB - 5 15.08

Bradshaw, Ahmad NYG RB - 4 18.05

SSOG - Only took 3 with byes, which was the lowest in our draft. But I ranked him here because 2 of his top 3 WR's are off the same week. Heaven help SSOG if the Broncos bring in another RB to compete. He used 4 roster spots to sew up the DEN running game. If MJD has a bad game, it may be lights out for SSOG, unless one of those RB's in DEN becomes a workhorse.

Welker, Wes NEP WR - 4 6.03

Engram, Bobby SEA WR - 4 7.10

Dawson, Phil CLE PK - 5 21.10

Bruce Henderson - Covered his WR byes very well. Driver and Galloway should help out in week 4.

Seahawks, Seattle SEA Def - 4 14.04

Avery, Donnie STL WR ® - 5 20.04

Thanks Bruce. I wasn't sure what I thought of my team immediately after the draft (I was a bit tired, of course), but upon second look I like it quite a bit. I certainly think I have a shot to advance to the second leg, though just about every team can say the same thing.QB

Aaron Rodgers/GB 6.07

Jason Campbell /WAS 9.06

Chad Pennington/NYJ 19.06

I was hoping to get Cutler, but he was taken shortly before my sixth round pick, so as the viable starters were becoming scarce I took a shot on Rodgers. I may be in the minority, but I think he's going to be good this year, and the Pack may want to throw a lot early to get his confidence established. Campbell is working in a new offense (again!), but all accounts are that he's picking it up well. He has better targets now and could flourish under Jim Zorn. Pennington was simply a late pick to back up the other two in case of injury. He may not even win the job, but I felt a third QB was needed, even in a short schedule.

RB

Brian Westbrook/PHIL 1.06

LenDale White/TENN 4.07

Ronnie Brown/MIA 5.06

Chester Taylor/MINN 11.06

Warrick Dunn/TB 12.07

Chris Perry/CIN 18.07

Had my heart set on nabbing Frank Gore at six, but when he went one pick before me I was happy to take Westbrook as the "consolation prize." He's one of the few guys on the Eagles with star power, and I know I can count on him to put up numbers on a weekly basis. I think people are sleeping on LenDale, who is the top option in a run-heavy offense. I don't love him, but I like Tennessee's early sked against the run, and White was one of the few guys left that didn't have an early bye week. So I should be able to use him and Westy each week. If Brown comes back strong, he may factor into the mix for me a couple of times. The other three were simply taken as insurance in case their starters get hurt (AD) or don't perform (Earnest Graham, Rudi Johnson). I didn't really need them, but they could put up numbers in the right situation.

WR

Reggie Wayne/IND 2.07

Braylon Edwards/CLE 3.06

Reggie Brown/PHIL 7.06

Derrick Mason/BALT 8.07

James Jones/GB 14.07

Chad Jackson/NE 15.06

Will Franklin/KC 21.06

Love my receivers, and even with Wayne being off in week 4 it's still a good group. I would have Edwards/Mason and Jones or Brown to fill in that one week, and I believe that would be enough to keep from being eliminated. My top five could all be in the top three on a given week, so I'm really happy with this group. Jackson and Franklin were simply high-upside flyers and depth.

TE

Todd Heap/BALT 10.07

Jeff King/CAR 22.07

Heap may have been my favorite pick of the draft. I was looking at him and Shockey, and when Shockey went earlier that made it easy. I know a lot of people remember him stinking up the joint last year, but when he's healthy he's a top five talent. Baltimore has a primo sked for TE in the first five weeks, and I'm hoping that he flashes back to the form he showed in 2005-06. King was simply insurance against a Heap injury.

K

Rob Bironas/TENN 16.07

Jason Hanson/DET 20.07

Bironas should be on the field early and often, and he usually does what he's supposed to do ... make kicks. Hanson is aging, but still kicks indoors and can boot the occasional long kick.

DEF

Buffalo 13.06

Carolina 17.06

The Bills are slowly becoming one of the nastier defensive units around, and once Jacksonville and Pittsburgh were gone, this was the team I targeted. An easy early sked could produce some points for me. Carolina may stink again, but I figured it was a good idea to have a second defense just in case the Bills didn't come through.

My basic strategy was threefold --- get as many elite players as possible; take care with the bye weeks; and don't leave positions unaccounted for, meaning grab a backup even if the starter didn't have a bye for the duration of the five weeks.

This was a fun event, and I'm really interested to see how it will go.

OK, now for a sober analysis of my team...

QB - Vince Young, Marc Bulger, Tarvaris Jackson, Jeff Garcia

Not only was I last to take a QB, but 4 other teams had 2 before I got my 1st one. I didn't get quality, so I had to get quantity. In hindsight, I should've taken Campbell instead of Bulger, because I ended up with the 2 rookie WR's from WAS. Plus, he has a better schedule and no bye. I only need 1 to perform each week, so I like my chances.

RB - LaDainian Tomlinson, Willie Parker, Darren McFadden, Kevin Smith

Having confidence in LT let me go light and risky here, although I did take the others in rounds 5, 6, and 7. I really like this group, and feel that I got great value with all of them. If I can't get 2 decent scores each week from these 4 RB's, I will be shocked.

WR - Marques Colston, Chad Johnson, Anthony Gonzalez, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, Limas Sweed, Michael Clayton, Early Doucet

This was my plan. Get two studs without byes, then load up on rookie WR's and hope at least one breaks out. I added Anthony Gonzalez as the last pick in the 10th round, just in case Marvin can't play. I also gave Michael Clayton one more shot at making a comeback, and took him because I had Jeff Garcia.

TE - Tony Gonzalez, Vernon Davis

I am digging this duo. Neither has a bye. I think VD was a steal as the 13th TE taken. If I do get booted from the league, it won't be because of these guys.

K - Matt Stover, Taylor Mehlhaff

Just a couple guys without byes.

D - Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys

I was very happy to get both of these D's at the 14/15 turn. I know they both have tough games, but neither has a bye and both can be explosive. They were the 11th and 12th D's taken.

Overall, I'm very happy and like my chances of advancing to leg 2.

Marc Faletti said:
Beware your RBs. Lewis and Washington have a bye in week 5. Barber and Turner will need to produce for you that week. But Barber has the Cincy D. That alone may be enough to get you through the week.

Green and Gold, where are you?Last Seen: Today, 01:07 AM - You were logged onto this site. I've sent you 2 e-mails and 2 PM's in the last 2 days. You are the only person left that needs to acknowledge we will revert the draft start time back to 9pm. Let's get a move on...
Last Seen: Today, 03:24 PMAnother logon to the site, and Green and Gold is still silent.
I never noticed the PM, sorry about that DW.

QB: Brees, Russell, Alex Smith

RB: LJ, Jacobs, T. Jones, Fargas, Ward, Moriss

WR: Holmes, Curtis, Coles, Wilford, V. Jackson, Curry, Toomer

TE: Clark, McMichael

K: Scobee, Longwell

D: Pittsburgh, Indy

I did very little research for this draft, got up to speed in about an hour before the draft. My local draft doesn't start until the end of August, so I was definitely behind the curve.

My strategy was to avoid bye week players at first, but there was really too much value to keep skipping them once we reached the end of the third round. As long as I had a reasonable lineup in weeks 4 and 5, even if it's a bit thin, I'm happy. I'm not pleased with my QB pick at 2.02, Brees has a poor schedule to start. I regretted it about 10 seconds after I made the pick, MJD is who I should have grabbed. We'll see how it works out.

Below is a cut & paste of Firesalt's self-analysis of his team. He created a thread for it in the Shark Pool, and the replies were less than friendly.

Croyle, Brodie KCC QB 18.01

Favre, Brett FA* QB 9.12

Manning, Eli NYG QB 6.01

QBs - Eli is not getting much love, but he performs at a high fantasy level, especially in the early weeks. I feel okay at QB, but if Favre will just find a team to start on (that does not have a week 4 bye) I will feel great.

Forte, Matt CHI RB ® 5.12

Foster, De'shaun SFO RB 21.12

Peterson, Adrian CHI RB 22.01

Portis, Clinton WAS RB 1.12

Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB 7.12

Williams, Ricky MIA RB 11.12

RBs - Not excited about Portis, but if healthy will produce solid numbers. Please get into the end zone, Clinton. Forte is the FBG man crush of the year, and I cuffed him with AP. I am cuonting on the two Williamses to get their best production in the first 5 weeks, DeAngelo because the rookie Stewart is still learning and John Fox is very faithful to incumbents, not wanting to start rookies; Ricky because Ronnie Brown is coming off a major injury, and when Sparano sees both of them run, he will see that Ricky is simply a more talented runner. When either Williams gets into the end zone, my RB stats will be good.

Booker, Marty CHI WR 17.12

Bowe, Dwayne KCC WR 4.01

Branch, Deion SEA WR 13.12

Cotchery, Jerricho NYJ WR 8.01

Jackson, Darrell DEN WR 15.12

Rice, Sidney MIN WR 10.01

Smith, Steve CAR WR 2.01

I love Steve Smith, but he needs a healthy Delhomme. Just stay off your back for 5 weeks, Jake, okay. Bowe's rookie stats put him in elite company; he might explode this year, especially with LJ to force Ds to put 8 in the box. Rice is my pick for WR breakout in 08. He will need Tarvaris to improve though. That's all he can do, right? I think my WRs are deep and solid. Could be my best position

Watson, Ben NEP TE 14.01

Witten, Jason DAL TE 3.12

If not WR, then TE is my best position. With Gates hobbling, Witten is TE1 on most boards. Watson backs him up, hoping his one or two good games come the same week(s) as Witten's off game.

Elam, Jason ATL PK 19.12

Suisham, Shaun WAS PK 20.01

Whatever. Take kickers late, and from teams who will get into scoring position a few times.

Eagles, Philadelphia PHI Def 16.01

Patriots, New England NEP Def 12.01

Pats have a patsy schedule for first 5 weeks. Philly fills in for the week 4 bye against a low-scoring Chicago O whose lowly QB, whoever it is, will be often sacked and Intercepted.

I do not like my team very much, largely due to having the 12th pick, and that the four guys I targeted went in picks 8-11. I reached for Steve Smith, but he is one of the all-time greatest best ball players, so I am happy to have him. I reached with Dwayne Bowe, but my other options were guys with brutal schedules or a bye, and I felt it was too high in the draft for that. I did okay overall avoiding bye weeks, but I will be a little thin in week 4. What I thought I did very well was pick players who have good schedules. I would be surprised if anyone surpassed me in that arena. I expect my players to outperform the ADP for the first five weeks, that is, if I get that far.

So, who of us didn't shy away from guys with bye weeks:

jurb26 - He tops my list, with 2 of his first 3 picks, 6 of his first 10, and 11 total. He's got cajones, that's for sure.
