My good friend who is gay played D1 basketball at a very small college. Still D1, though. Obviously, he was not openly gay then. But the weird thing is if you were to meet him, you'd know he was gay within the first three words of him talking. He's not flamboyant, but he's got that gay voice. I often wondered if people knew back then, or if everyone was just so blind to the gay that it never crossed their mind. He played back in the early 90's.
