UMass' Gordon 1st openly gay D1 men's hoop player (1 Viewer)

Interesting that the ESPN headline is: "Umass' Godon says he is gay"

While technically accurate, it seems to be an odd way to phrase it - leaving open the possibility that he is not really gay, but is only saying he is gay.

Phrasing it another way could make it seem like they're outing him to someone not clicking/reading thru.

My good friend who is gay played D1 basketball at a very small college. Still D1, though. Obviously, he was not openly gay then. But the weird thing is if you were to meet him, you'd know he was gay within the first three words of him talking. He's not flamboyant, but he's got that gay voice. I often wondered if people knew back then, or if everyone was just so blind to the gay that it never crossed their mind. He played back in the early 90's.
Does he still play?

No. He was in college playing back in the early 90's. He was not quite NBA material. And by not quite, I mean no where near.
"Play" (double entendre)

Besides his word, what proof do we really have?
