Unga Pro Day (1 Viewer)

Twenty four NFL teams were on hand in Provo, Utah Thursday to watch supplemental draft RB/FB prospect Harvey Unga's workout at BYU.

Unga measured in at 6'1/244 while posting a 35-inch vertical jump and completing 19 reps on the bench press. His forty time was faster than expected, ranging between 4.58 and 4.63 seconds. He reportedly looked "fantastic" in pass-catching drills as well. Although teams are looking at Unga as a ball carrier, there's still a good chance he ends up as a fullback in the NFL.

Can you say sleeper? In the right situation this guy could be interesting. The question is what team drafting him would be the best situation?

Patriots?

Rams?

Bucs?

Dolphns?

I would love to see him go to the Rams, Bucs, or Dolphons where he could have a prayer at being a future starter

(KFFL) Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga (ankle) worked out for 20 NFL teams Thursday, July 8, but was reportedly hampered by an ankle injury, reports NFL.com's Gil Brandt. Unga measured in at his workout with a height of 6-foot-1, 244 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash at 4.76 seconds and 4.65 seconds, the three-cone drill in 7.41 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.51 seconds. He measured a 9-foot-6 broad jump and a 35-inch vertical jump. Among the teams represented at the workout were the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.

ok, two different reports ... the difference between 4.58 to 4.63 and 4.65 to 4.76 could be the difference between some tailback work load and 100% fullback

so which was it?

Here are the numbers from the workout:

Unga measured in at 6-foot-1 and 244 pounds.

His standing high jump was 35 inches and his long jump was 9 feet, 6 inches.

He bench-pressed 225 pounds 19 times.

"When I came in to work with Dave Stroshine, I did 12 the first time I got in there," Unga said. "I'm happy with that."

Most importantly, Unga's 40 time was in the 4.64 range. I asked three scouts who timed Unga's second 40, and one had 4.64, one had 4.63 and the other had 4.65.

The first 40, ran in the opposite direction (toward the mountains) was a 4.72, according to the only scout I got a chance to ask.

His time in the first 10 yards was 1.65 seconds, and 2.75 seconds in the first 20 yards.

"For a guy that is 245 [pounds], I would say that's pretty good," he said.

Former BYU quarterback Charley Peterson threw passes to Unga, and he also did some pro agility drills and other shuttle drills in front of the scouts.

Metz, who is based in Arizona and also represents former BYU QB Max Hall, said he expected a 40 time in the 4.5 range, but noted that Unga has a sprained ankle and has been traveling back and forth between Utah and Illinois for the birth of his son that his workout regimen has been effected.

"Harvey won't make any excuses. That's my job as his agent," Metz said.

that is why I moved PT in my leagues this off-season; I just can't go though this everytime NO send a scout out or when ever NO drafts a 7th round RB

I don't think there is anything of value here. Looks like a mediocre prospect getting more attention than he deserves due to the dulldroms of summer.

didn't you read this? "He reportedly looked "fantastic" in pass-catching drills".He's got uber-stud written all over him.

You would have to be playing with a VERY big starting roster and a VERY deep overall roster in a league with better than 12 owners for Unga to be worth any FF discussion what so ever...

The after draft news is the only thing keeping this guys name alive. Everyone is starved for any news ff related atm...
