United Airlines fight at Newark airport (1 Viewer)

I guess not, but is there any chance whatsoever this is staged?

I ask only because in such an event, I'd expect a swarm of security/police on the scene just about immediately.

You’ve never seen 50 TSA agents standing around? Airport workers rival the DMV

Unless they had special effects the airline employees head looks pretty blood at the end?

You're right. I doubted myself right away.

...

Judge S, wasn't thinking so much TSA. Was thinking more local PD or something like that.

The video seems to be way off peak hours -- Newark is a very busy airport, yet there's no one milling around, walking past, lined up, or anything. Was the video taken at 4:00 a.m. or something?

There are people lined up - one is filming, one woman moves her suitcase out of the way when they get near it.

Saw this yesterday.

1) It's hilarious that people feel entitled to having video from before/during/after, yet are also equally horrified at the state of social media today.  The person that was filming it got the camera out after the altercation started.

2) This was a express luggage check in at EWR and the dude rolled up with his stuff in a wheelchair.  It's still not clear if that was some sort of trigger for this, but easily could be if the guy mouthed off.

If you think 2) is really the cause here, the guy might have asked the guy to wheel the cart back, and then kicked off the war of words.  There's zero way the united employee should have engaged this guy on several levels, and is at a minimum gonna lose his job.  These express luggage people in DFW make 150-200k a year (from tips), so I don't really get why you risk that job over something like this.

All right. I basically would have expected to see wall-to-wall people in that particular airport pretty much everywhere pretty much all the time (possible exception -- between midnight and 6:00 a.m.). Obviously, I'm a mile off.

In the video the airport employee makes contact first with a slap. Has it been determined that was the first physical contact or did the video pick up after a previous strike?

Employee got rocked but from the video he started it and came back for more. If the video is accurate, I see a lawsuit coming.

That pork chop was bobbing and weaving like he was Mayweather, then ran out of gas 40 seconds into the first round.

While I understand trying to avoid the airlines nickel and diming everyone and everything within shouting distance of an airport, I feel starting a fight over a guy using a wheelchair isn’t the whole story, and honestly, everyone looks worse for it afterwards. The worker for starting it and getting knocked down, Brendan for apparently not being able to throw strong punches, and the local law enforcement/TSA for being in Narnia while this was happening.

Watch the longer video. Langley threw several punches before the slap.

Yeah, but the employee clearly escalated things, when he should have been doing the opposite.  I would can him if I was United.

Fired, sure, but I get why they arrested Langley and not the employee.

Hilarious when Langley, after throwing a barrage of punches, gets slapped and says "you see that sh**?" And then accuses the employee of assault. What a d-bag.

I see it differently. Looks like the employee escalated and handed out the first slap.  Unless this is Jayrod, most people will fight back and defend themselves.

Having flown countless times from/to Newark via United over the years, I can’t say for sure who’s to blame without more information.

Both were peckerheads. I think it’s the right call that the UA employee lost his job and the sucky NFL player got charged with assault.

Yeah, I have no idea what led to this, but I can't imagine a scenario of how this happens without them both being idiots. Either of them not being an idiot at any point in this process and this doesn't happen.

Kind of like 2 young siblings explaining who was at fault in a fight. It's not worth the mental energy to sort out stupid, so you just send them both to their room and be done with it.
