No I am saying I wouldn't put it above the guy that is sitting all his starters in a nationally televised game to do it. I don't think that is what the situation is, but with Belichick anything is possible....and right on cue there is Ridley.
Well. Seeing Ridley get some carries this late in the game is slightly promising... again, I'd have liked to see Vereen distinguish himself more... but to put Ridley in this LATE? that's promising... i'll rephrase my earlier statement and say Vereen still has an adequate shot at #1 RB for Week 1.
Ridley getting 1st and 2nd down duties in the 3rd/4th.Also, rewinded to see that Ridley in on last 3rd down, too.
It looks like he's taken what's given. For his size he gets the corner a lot too. He looks good running the ball.
Could be matter of wanting to see Vereen and Bolden with 1st/2nd string without wearing them down since they play next Friday. Or could be that Ridley slipped down the depth chart. Obviously we can rule out that Belichick wanted to save Ridley for week 3 of the preseason...Tough call. My guess is that heading into this game, Belichick wanted to see if Vereen would take the reigns as a number one back. Since it's pretty clear he didn't, who knows at this point. Vereen gets a bump after this game, even though he didn't blow anyone's pants off. Ridley owners HAVE to lose quite a bit of confidence in their guy coming in and taking handoffs so late in a week 2 preseason game. Ultimately, though, everyone will have to tune in to see who week 3 starter is.
