Updates on Todd Heap? (1 Viewer)

Grabbed him in the 12th round of a 10 team .5PPR.Any news regarding the calf injury? Also, any concerns with this blurb:

Mike Preston, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said he is not going to use TE Todd Heap how he used San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates when he was with the Chargers. Cameron said they would use Heap as more of a blocking tight end.
That was posted June 2nd...a full month before Sypniewski was lost for the year.

from rotoworld:

Todd Heap-TE- Ravens Aug. 15 - 12:59 pm et

Todd Heap has been sidelined since August 2 with a right calf injury.

Heap is expected to be ready for Week 1, but has long been prone to nagging injuries and doesn't tend to recover quickly. We'd consider downgrading him slightly considering the time of year. The Ravens open in exactly three weeks and Heap hasn't caught many throws from the team's multiple starting QB candidates.

Thu, Sep 4 Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens TE Todd Heap (calf) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 4. He will start Week 1.

Looks like he is going to play, but it makes me nervous he is still limited in practice.

Starting to wish I didn't own him in my dynasty. Missed pretty much all of this year and is already getting an early start on this one. Benching him this week for Scheffler. He has to prove he's healthy. Having a rookie QB in there probably won't help.

This from tomarken's years of experience as a Heap owner:

Thu Sep 04, 9:35 pm ETtomarken, of the Shark Pool, reports Baltimore Ravens TE Todd Heap is expected to suck in week 1. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said that Heap should not be rostered in your fantasy league.

Reading this stuff I may take a look at who is available on the WW for a spot start. But going against a matchup with Cincy's passing D is hard to do.

Update you ask?He is often injured and not very good anymore..... :lmao:
Plus, even if he plays you are always left holding your breath about whether he will get injured on the first series or not. This type of thread was going on all last year and by the end of the season I had enough of Todd Heap. He would keep saying he was getting better and was hoping to play, only to end up not playing. After having half of the 2007 season to and the complete off-season to heal the guy still couldn't get back on the field during the preseason? Hopefully you guys were able to draft a reliable back up because you will probably be having the same debate in one of these threads every week.

Word on the streets, Heap is healthy. I'll be starting him with extreme confidence.

Jacobs just needs to stay healthy. The Giants offensive line is certainly top 10, arguably top 5. So, if you're a guy running behind that line, you should be a top 10 back if you stay healthy all season..........right?Jacobs definately has the ability to finish off a run. Once he starts running down hill, that's when I feel he starts becoming a special back.In tonight's numbers, I feel like he's actually a better pass receiver than he gets credit for........but don't expect the high yardage all season long. The Giants have a lot of decent RB's and even after an entire game against Washington who doesn't have a quality run defense, he didn't score a TD.I worry about his total TDs, more so consistently where we all it's nice to have 2 or 3 Td's in 1 game, but what about next game. I don't need to win by 25 points each week, I need to win by 1.
Unless I hear any bad news, I'm starting him over Vernon Davis.

Dude?!?
Sorry, I got Davis on the cheap and I'm no believer. I was basically given him in a league format that didn't favor TE's at all and I got both in a late bang bang as I was near a turn.I hope I'm wrong about Davis and I'll be the first to admit it, but I don't see it. Heap says he's healthy, I'm starting the VET over Davis until he gets is #### out there and shows me he's the man.

LOL, your quote had nothing to do with Davis. What am I missing here? You quote yourself but it's about B. Jacobs and the Giants offense, but your comments are about Davis. Have you started drinking already? The Boyz don't play til Sunday.

Injury issues, yes. But not very good anymore? I can't agree with that part. As recently as 2006, he was 4th in TE scoring and has been in the top 4 in scoring in 4 of the last 6 years. The 2 years he wasn't, he only played 6 games. It's only a matter of health for Heap.

Seriously. It's hard to understand the hate for Heap - granted he gets banged up a lot, but really only missed significant time for the first time last year. He's played through injuries before, so clearly last year was serious. If healthy, as long as Flacco doesn't totally flop, I expect Heap to rejoin the ranks of the better TEs in the league.

I disagree.Flacco will need his security blanket and Heap will be the benificiary.

Heap returns to top 10 TE this season.

The problem with Heap wasn't so much that he was injured last year. Most of us who had him could have accepted that. The problem was that he was continuously listed as probable and didn't play. I just don't trust him anymore.

That was with the ever-complex Billick though - hopefully with Harbaugh things will be a bit clearer.

Fool me once shame on you.

Fool me twice shame on me.

Fool me three times...well that's just absurd.

He's the ultimate tease. Always getting hurt. Always.

FWIW, the ravens reportedly cut their 3rd TE to make room for Willie Anderson. I'd take that to mean they think Heap and Wilcox are pretty solid in their recoveries.

Of course that doesn't mean Heap can make it through the first game....
