Upton suffered the injury while grounding out to shortstop in the top of the first inning. He appeared to alter his stride shortly before reaching first base, then remained down on the grass in right field for a few minutes before hobbling off the field.

The Devil Rays said Upton was day-to-day and would be re-evaluated Saturday.

Upton is batting a team-best .320 with nine home runs and 31 RBIs this season for Tampa Bay.

I should have warned you guys.........I just traded for Upton. So I'm pretty sure he'll go into the tank sometime soon......just didn't realize it would be his first day on my team.
