Tab also called Amon but his club did not release him.

No Durkin is the big head scratcher especially with DC out of the playoffs.

Why Klinsmann?  I don't think he's played for Hertha yet has he?  He's still on their reserve team?  I would've thought there were many choices ahead of him right now.

sadly, I would normally be very inquisitive about this but the discouraging fact remains is that so many of my questions are meaningless because 13 months later we still have an interim coach.

 
even though I think there is a good chance the US gets taught a football lesson this week, I have to keep reminding myself how young the team is.

We can look out a long 5 years from now and Pulisic, Weah, Sargent, Adams and Swag are still all going to be 25 or under.

 
Secured my gold cup tickets for June. Let's say I want to put a jersey on my holiday wish list. Is the kit that is available now be the same one they will wear in 2019? I gotta get a number 2...

I think there's a certain cache in wearing an outdated jersey... if you like the current design, go for it.

It seems like the US changes kits quite often so there is a decent chance that a different one will be used during the Gold Cup.

 
The Klinsmann news has kind of covered up the real story IMO.

With Steffen's injury, I think Horvath has a great chance to make an impression.  He is back as his club teams first choice keeper and is coming off of a wonderful game in Champions League.

Hopefully he can erase the bitter taste of the howler against Portugal last year when he played for the US.

based on youth play, always thought Horvath was going to be the guy.. but Steffen's been playing, and playing great.

real story #2- is hamid busted?

I don't think he is hurt.  Out of the picture would mean we have a full time coach so I can't answer that.  I have no idea what Berhalter (or whom ever gets hired) is thinking.

just thought he was an in-form guy, recently out of the playoffs, who still has a future with the US. not sure why he's not being considered. but yeah- let's take the guy who doesn't play 1st team ball.

It is interesting that none of the DC guys got called.

Hamid, Nips, Cannouse and even Durkin getting ignored by Tab.

 
U20 WCQing group

US, Honduras, Costa Rica

Honduras and Costa Rica played to a 1-1 draw today in the first game of the mini group.  Honduras was down to ten for 60+ minutes.

If the US beats Costa Rica OR beats Honduras, they will qualify for the U20 WC (top 2 teams in mini group advance to WC).

Steffens has been great for the Nats but he had no business winning GK of the year in MLS. He wasn’t even top 5 

Hamid, unfortunately, has been dog#### for the Nats.  Whatever went wrong at Midgetland, it didn’t show up in DC. He was solid after returning. 

 
of all the guys on the team, he must be so bummed.  This would have been a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of a ton of epl scouts.  Goff reported he will be out 4 weeks.  I hope this does not effect his standing with his club but injuries are the number 1 way players get their chances.

Somewhat off topic but has anyone ever seen a USMNT wall calendar ?  Seems like they make one for just about everything but the only soccer ones I could find were a few EPL teams, Real Madrid, Messi, Neymar and some generic ones. Usually get my son a calendar as part of his Christmas gifts and the generic soccer ones the last few years are boring. Guess I'll go Messi if I can't find one, he doesn't have a specific team he roots for outside the US.

I have not looked in a long time but I had US Soccer wall calendars in my office for many many years.  I think my first one was back in the mid 90's, maybe even earlier.

can Gall play in that Saief role? I think de la Torre does. I don't know much about the kid. might see some lletget too.

I'd imagine playing in front of EPL scouts isn't an issue for a guy playing in the championship. 

but too bad- would be good to get that back line at least sorted and used to playing with each other.

I'm hoping whatever's going on with Mazda in France doesn't affect him with the Nats.

I made my point poorly.

I was trying to say that he would be watched by EPL scouts playing against the best EPL English talent, which would likely tell them more than watching him play in the Championship.

that would be my exact lineup given the roster changes.

I hope we don't get another 4-1-4-1 with Trapp overwhelmed at the anchor again.
