US Men's National Team (9 Viewers)

US wins easily 4-0

* By far the best game of the tournament for the US.  Dominating a minnow is one thing but throttling CR is another.

* US advances to WC

* US can advance to championship game with a draw or better on Monday against Honduras

* CR had to resort to a ton of fouls and yellow cards in second half to slow the US down else the score could have been worse.  As it was the US hit the post and had two balls go straight across the goal line just begging for a toe poke.

* Probably the most heartening thing of the game was realizing the US was simply better technically than CR almost all over the field.

* US goal differential in tournament now stands at massive +41 (43 scored, 2 against)

* US and Panama are the only two teams left in tournament with a perfect record.  Panama plays Mexico on Monday to see who gets into the final

Mendez looks to be the truth. So composed on the ball. The shot might have been the least impressive part of that first goal. McKenzie plays a beautiful line splitting pass to Mendez’s feet and Mendez casually takes the perfect first touch to instantly drive at the defense.

Any chance that this extreme delay in announcing the coach is related to waiting for U20 qualification to finish to see how the team performed for Tab?

The U17 girls got walloped by North Korea 3-0.

This puts the US in a very bad spot as the last game in the group stage is against Germany which already beat North Korea 4-1.  If the US lose to Germany they are very likely out at the group stage.

Fwiw, NK is the defending champion.

I mentioned the US won their first game via 2 red card to their opponent, and scoring their first goal long after a Cameroon player was lying hurt on the field. Even though it was a 3-0 win, the scorelune may not have been as descriptive of the game

him opposite hazard would be fun
Assuming he started.  He’s losing minutes to Sancho and Jacob Bruun Larson right now.  Would like to see him beat those two out before moving on.

I really would hate to see him waste away on a bench just to say he plays for a team like Chelsea.

It doesn’t sound like he would sit though.  I guess they are expecting a transfer ban this summer and are looking for youth that can start for outside attacking since Willian and Pedro are north of 30 now.

That’s the speculation and I’m sure that’d be the plan, but I would hate to see it blow up in his face.  He hasn’t made the next step in Dortmund yet and I am uncomfortable in seeing him move on until he can prove himself to be a top 3-4 player on his current team.

U17 girls? Damn, you must be retired...

Dortmund speaks out on the Pulisic rumors

"We have known these rumors for many years. We plan at least until the end of the season with him. Pulisic will not leave BVB in winter." - Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc

Schalke announce that scans on #USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie show "no serious muscular damage" and that he will only be out of training for a few days

you had me at mex losing.
2-1 now.  Mexico pressing like crazy.

I noticed Lleanez is playing for Mexico which is interesting since he is one of Mexico's best young players where as the US is missing their best players.

2-2 now.

Ends up 2-2.  Mexico advances on the fair play rule (Panana picked up a second half yellow card).

If the US advance to the final against Mexico, it should be a good game.  I don't think the US will be out matched here.   Mexico looked great when they were down by 2 but I think that was because Panama turtled.

As soon as Mexico tied it up, Panama woke up and created multiple good scoring opportunities and probably should have had the winner that went off the post very very late..

well that was a slow half.

Honduras ceded almost all the possession to the US and the US struggled to break Honduras down.

Soto had the games best chance that he flubbed with a weak shot when a simple pass created a wide open net.

0-0
