US Men's National Team (8 Viewers)

Israel just beat Brazil in ET.

If the US handles business tomorrow, things couldn't have lined up any better
I would've rather faced Brazil - this Israeli team can really play.
I haven't seen Israel play... They have to be good to have gotten this far.

You watched them? Any thoughts on their style of play?
Incredibly talented all over the field. This is the same core that made a surprise run all the way to the U19 Euro final, where they lost a heartbreaker to England in extra time.

It looks like their best player from that run isn't with the team (he plays for Red Bull Salzburg - maybe they refused to release him?), but they have a couple of other players who should end up playing in Europe sooner rather than later. Their #9, Turgeman, is a rumored Benfica target. I've been super impressed by their right back as well.

That said, I think we match up well. The speed of Luna/Cowell will pose big problems for their backline, and we have the athleticism to match up with Turgeman on the other end.

I think this will be the game where Slonina makes his presence felt. (ETA: assuming we win today!)

Today is LDLT's and Musah's day to be saved or relegated. It would be awful bad luck if both get relegated but the odds seem fair that one goes down. La Liga games are at 3 ET today.

Reims had a small goodbye ceremony for Flo before the game yesterday as his loan is now over. Yet another US player with a big next move to make.

I assume Arsenal will have endless choices for another loan or may even sell him since his price will be high this summer.

Utrecht heading to extra time with Sparta (2-2 on aggregate) in the Dutch playoff.

Booth is still carrying a knock (he didn't play in the first leg), but with Utrecht still down, he came on in the 55th minute. He's obviously still crocked as he's grimaced a few times (I'm not sure what the knock is) but has still been pretty active overall. He had a terrific shot that would have won it saved on about 85'.

ETA: it's on ESPN+

ok, as of halftime, Celta are beating Barca 1-0 but Valencia are losing 1-0.

If all other halftime results hold, both Musah and LDLT survive.

Valencia really need a point here
Celta has scored again. They are up 2-0.

Valencia hanging on by a thread still losing 1-0. They need to hope Valladolid do not score and take the lead in their game. Valladolid is keeping Valencia afloat right now.

Sad to rely on another team not to score to bail you out.

Valencia score and Espanyol score.

Lots has to go wrong in the last ten minutes (results in three games need to flip I think) for Musah to drop. He is on to hopefully see this out.

SK beats Nigeria 1-0 in ET of the U20 quarter finals. SK will play Italy in the semis.
I watched the first 60 or so... Nigeria the better team, SK very organized defensively... And not bad.

From what I've seen, Italy are the class of the WC so far. Haven't seen Israel and keeping fingers crossed the US keeps up their dominant run against a better team today.

Seemed like some lousy defending there. There were 2 guys right there that could've picked up the goal scorer and neither did. Just left him all kinds of space.

Craig got exposed in space as he's too slow to afford to react incorrectly. That said, he amplified that with poor effort.

Wolff head down thinking he can run past people is 0-3 so far.

URU figured some things out after about 10 mins, space wise that has helped them defend and attack the US press.

US looking sloppy on and 2nd to the ball the last 10 mins or so.

It definitely is there for them if the reel things back in.

US MF just off the pace, and URU reading the space well, cutting off all the inside alleys stuff that has worked so well for the US up until now

And the floppo 2nd ball meter pointed heavily towards URU. US shape not right, with Luna having to drop deeper to get involved.

And for all of these negative posts, it's not like the US is in a bad spot or that off the game.

Wtf. Ref not exactly helping things out... So far all of the calls have gone the other way, including some clearly wrong on both sides of the ball.

But... They're not troubling the UR net, and as mentioned, their shape has to come correct and more positive- no numbers up front, and MF getting beat to the ball isn't a recipe for success.

We probably should reorganize to a 433 and slide Che to RB. Bring on Paredes. Drop Wolff back into the midfield.

The headed ball out is just floating in the air.. and the US still can't get a body there. Kind of encapsulated their night... Tired or second best, but it's just not happening.

Speaking of .. this has been a poor performance from Luna.

It's all just too easy for URU defense, between lack of numbers and poor touches from the US

That's better.

Looks like a shift in tactics with the subs.

US needs to move the ball quicker through the MF... They're getting numbers up now, but the holding MFs are just killing the ball sitting on it

The time wasting is so maddening to watch. And the refs do nothing about it. The amount of time the keeper takes after collecting the ball is just insane.
