I have Gholston (as a DE) on the practice squad of my 14 team Dynasty league. (Roster and League Info in Sig.)

When Gholston's on the field, he looks non-existent and he applies no pressure at all.

Can he be considered a 1st round bust?

Also, Should I consider trading him while he still has "some" value... or should I sit on him for 1 more year while he learns under Rex Ryan?

With apologies for failing to sugarcoat this...

Two years ago, Vernon Gholston only had value as a speculative late round fantasy pick in sack heavy leagues. Since then, he's floundered as a 4-3 end on nickel downs and 3-4 end on base downs and a standup linebacker moved around the formation in nickel subpackages. He failed in a conservative 3-4 and again after a year of seasoning and some weeks of extended playing time under a coach who has made pass rushers out of many different types of players with his confusing zone coverages and blitz schemes.

What marginal value he had on fantasy draft days in the preseason of 2008 is long gone. If you've got deep rosters in a very sack heavy scoring system and want to continue to burn the roster spot on a spec pick who could have a small uptick in value if he "gets it" in a contract season, you might get some value back for him then.

Otherwise, there's no risk in dropping him.
