My gf and I are planning our next trip. Thinking about Mexico and doing an all inclusive. Has anyone been recently and not felt safe? I doubt anything would happen but there is that small chance I suppose. The last two places we have been were Dominican Republic and Jamaica which we enjoyed a lot. We stayed at excellence when we went to D.R. based off this forums recommendation and really liked it.

Any comments or recommendations on where to stay would be appreciated.

I just got back Saturday from 2 weeks at an AI in Mexico and felt completely safe.

There's a small chance in your own home too...

Most resorts anywhere are pretty safe.  If they weren't, people wouldn't go.  Last time I was in Mexico was about 5 years ago, but never felt unsafe there.  I thought the Dominican Republic felt less safe (off resort).  

As far as recommendations, I am sure others will be more knowledgeable.  However, I will say if the beach vibe is a high priority, steer clear of the Hard Rock Riviera Maya.  Resort is fine, but the beach sucked.

there are a few threads like this one in the FFA that discuss AI spots and the Mayan Riviera... I assume that's where you're thinking for AI in Mexico.
