Value Based Drafting (1 Viewer)

So what is the current thinking on using VBD values for prioritizing draft picks? Assuming you have the team you would like lined up, and whichever players on your wish list, do experts still use this when actually drafting? Or is the VBD valuation tweaked somehow?

I realize this is an open ended question but I thought it might be worth discussing now.

VBD, as I undertand and use it, is simply a calculation that meaures how valuable each player is, or will be, provided the baselines are accurate.

Even if this calculation answered everything, it still doesn't tell you whom to draft--Value Over Replacement still comes into play. You still need to put yourself in a position to collect the most VBD possible, which isn't always drafting the player with the highest projected VBD.

I essentially use it as another level of projections. It's helps me to quickly understand how valuable Peyton Manning is compared to Jamaal Charles, assuming they both meet my projections. But, again, even that answer isn't complete. I still have to decide who is more valuable at that very pick, in that very draft; who is more likely to play up to the projectoins, etc.
